Hey! Wow, we have almost the exact same stats.

Age: 18

Height: 5'3"

SW: 178 (my highest weight ever).

CW: 175

GW: 120

I don't have motivation issues, unless you count being over-motivated. I've always kind of had issues with food, so I've been having trouble getting up to 1200. I'm just so full after 900 or so! I absolutely do not want to trash my metabolism though, so I usually get it up there.

I'll take all the support I can get. :)

Hey... I'm pretty similar... but this year of college i gained even more weight than before. I'm got up to 200 before I realized I really needed to do something about it.

Female

Age: 20

Height: 5'3''

Starting Weight: 200

Current Weight: 194

Goal Weight: I actually have 2. My first being my 21st birthday: 165

Overall Goal Weight: 135

I am hoping that by splitting it up it will feel more attainable, and easier for me to believe that I've made some progress...

Tell us some about you, so we'll know better how to help.

I've put on a lot of my weight since moving in with my Fiance'  a year ago. He eats what he likes and barely exercises and is a thin as a rake - i think thats where i picked up my bad habits! :s He does try to be supportive but it wears out after a couple of days!!

My goal weight is 140 lbs which hopefully I will achieve by next summer! I work full-time and on average 10 hour days with 30 mins for lunch.

I love my Wii fit but am rearely motivated enough to use it on a regular basis.

For me it was just college. I always thought I was big in High School, but I really wasn't. I've been on my own "technically" (I have similar aged roommates) since I was 17. I was going to school full time and had taken on 2 part time jobs. It made for a ton of vending machine foods, and soda to keep me awake.

I thought that when i was 132lb when i was 15/16 that i was big - now id love to be that size again!! my problem is i really cba to cook something healthy when i get i from work so resort to takeouts or just something easy like chips!

although i must admit that i have started to make bigger portions of healthy meals and freeze the extra portion so its easier next time.

I know how it feels to be on the run and busy all the time. I'm in a summer class which is extremely fast paced and difficult, so when I get home I have to focus on that and don't have a lot of time to come up with new and exciting healthy meals.

What I do is put everything in individual containers for lunches. Like when I buy chicken, I shred it up and put it in little containers. I do the same for lettuce, etc. Then, when lunch time comes, everything is already portioned for me, and I throw it all together in a flash.

For dinner I've just been sticking to pretty basic deal of a lean meat and tons of veggies. Sometimes I'll throw in some roasted potatoes or sweet potatoes if I'm craving carbs. It's really simple with no fuss.

Once I get used to this lifestyle more, I'll start mixing it up. I don't know if this will work for you, but you could try it? :)

I THOUGHT I was chubby as a kid too, but now that I look back, I really was just healthy and the perfect weight.

I really like the idea of putting everything into individual containers. Especially with my job this summer. I work outside for 8-10 hours, and when lunch time comes around, it'll be nice to have something quick, easy, and light. (no one wants a super heavy lunch in 90+ degree weather)

I'd love to be the size I was in high school (i stayed around 140, but got down to 120 by the time i was 16) My mom and brother would always make fun of my size and I believed them.

Hey. You keep up your diet. You CAN do it. I'm 5'3''. When I was 18 I was 183 pounds...I decided to start a healthy lifestyle last august. I'm now 150, and dropping still.

I don't know if you really wanted to know or not, but when I read about people who are my age and height, that used to be my weight and have lost, it gives me hope and motivation.

If you want a weight loss buddy, I might not be the right one for you, but I can give you some tips :)

I'm in this same category as well!

Age: 22

Height: 5'2

I have the same scheduling issues. I do the pre-planned container thing as well, my biggest problem is finding time for exercise. I just started my new lifestyle 3 days ago and I'm finding it much more of a challenge than expected. It's not the diet, it's not the exercise, it's getting to the gym. I tried thinking of other options like wii fit too, but before I started this lifestyle I did nothing but research for about a month to find out how to do things the right way.

The problem is, now that I know more, I have more things to accomplish. It's ideal to work out in the morning, but I have to be at work at 8am, the gym opens at 7 and I need 1.5 hours of exercise. If I work out after work, I don't get the same benefits of the peak work out time, and therefore have to increase cardio to make up for my daily recommended carbs and fats. I was told by a personal trainer that there is an enzyme released after 20 minutes of increased heart rate that burns more calories, so ideally you want to work out longer after that 20 minutes. Most websites recommend 30 minutes of exercise 5 days a week, but at 30 minutes, I would have just released the enzyme, whereas an hour will give me 40 minutes of serious fat burning.

I def would like to be a buddy in this support system, I need all the help I can get!

Just an update:

SW: 200

CW: 192

Down 2 from last week...

Does anyone have any tips or helpful hints about stress eating... I've been under a ton lately, and its been wreaking havoc on my diet...

I do actually! When I'm stressed out, I def start feeling the need to eat, and ALWAYS overeat. I'm pretty sure it had to do with the fact that when I was a child I was rewarded with food (i.e. good grades got me a dinner out, cookies and snacks for good behavior, same with a bad day, my mom would bake me a cake to make me feel better) so I've had to start telling myself that I don't NEED to eat, I WANT to eat because I've been programed to want it.

I start listening more to my body - am I hungry? If I really am hungry or if I'm just so upset that I can't resist, I eat fruit. It not only satisfies my sweet tooth, but I get to eat, and fulfill my childhood "sweets make everything better" mentality. Try frozen grapes, yum! Also, if you need something more substantial (in the sweet category) I know the best diet "cookie" recipe:

1 cup of honey bunches of oats cereal (this is the best one, but if you want to go healthier, try just quacker oats)

1 cup of dark chocolate chips (try to get the highest % of cocoa)

1 1/2 cup of dried cherries

Melt the chocolate, add the cherries and cereal, mix and drop 1 tbsp size scoops on a cookie sheet. Let cook in the fridge for 3-4 hours until chocolate hardens. Enjoy!

Hope this helps! Stick with it!

That cookie recipes sounds really yummy!

Just thought I'd update you, I'm down to 167.6 :D

Congrats! I hope to be at your weight in 3 months : )

Thanks for the recipe. I'm going to have to try it. :)

Hello Everyone...

I noticed that we'd dropped away for a while, and I was curious about how everyone was doing with their weight loss.

Height: 5'3''

Starting Weight: 200

Current Weight: 188

Goal Weight: 165

I don't think i'll be hitting my goal weight by my birthday after all. I hit a plateau for a few weeks when I was working so much i'd come home and crash without any energy for exercise. But last week I cut back some hours, and added some swimming and dropped 2 lbs. I was very excited.

How's everyone else doing?

I've hit a plateu due to work as well. I didn't stop working out all together, but I've dropped from 7 days a week to maybe 4 or 5. I've been working 7 days a week since April but now that the summer is almost over, I've just felt drained and when I get home exercise is the LAST thing I want to do. I think that the only route I can go to stay successful is to go back to the gym rather than working out at home. Once I get home, I just want to crash. I'm glad to hear that you've shaken your plateau back into progress and I hope that I will start seeing similar results...

Hey Everyone

My school year is starting back up tomorrow. My birthday was on Friday, and summer here is basically over. I also moved into a new apartment, so i've not been very good on my diet in the last 2 weeks. Stress really hurts me.

On the bright side, for an extra credit this sememster, I've signed up for a Zumba class. It meets twice a week for 50 minutes at a time. I figured that if i have some built in exercise that I have to attend, then hopefully it will help keep me more on track. What do you'll think? Have you ever tried Zumba or anything like it? I hope I enjoy it and can keep it up.

As for my birthday, I am not sure if I made my weight goal. I have been without a scale for the last two weeks. The last time I weighed myself it was after a night of dancing, and had made it down to 178 (a pound below my goal.) I am pretty sure that it was just water weight, but it felt pretty good anyway.

So, now that school has started I am setting a new goal for my Winter Break (December 18) I hope to be down 20 lbs by then. I am not sure my current weight, but will go to campus and look tomorrow. It is a little bit more than one pound a week, and still healthy.

Sorry for talking so much about myself, I just wanted to give an update. How is everyone else doing? Agmilano, have you broken your plateau yet? Jpegg0, any news on your progress?

Hey thtlola!

I've broken through my plateau only to set into another one... I was at 180 and unable to budge for nearly a month, I finally fell to 177 and that's where I've been for the past 3 weeks now. School is definetly a stressor and I haven't been keeping up with anything at all the first week of school...I had scheduling conflict and I'm sure you all know that to fix a school's error, it takes days. I feel like I have lived in the Busar's office for the last week, and the gym I usually go to closes at 7. I go to class from 8-8:45 and my only break is exactly an hour long (how long I usually work out) so there's no time left to get to the gym, get a locker, a machine, shower, and to class.

I'm hoping that once school is settled and we're all into our new routine for the next semester, that we can make new fitness accommodations and stay on track. I'm so glad to see someone reply! It's always encouraging to see that we suffer from the same downfalls. Keep up the good work and I'll report back soon, hopefully with some progress!

I completely know how stressing scheduling can be. I specifically scheduled my classes so to only have class mwf but still have a full schedule. That way I can still work. In order to do that I had to go and get a closed class permit.

Glad to know that you broke your previous plateau. Good luck on this new one.

I weighed myself on the first day of school, on Monday, and had gone back up to 195. I am pretty sure that I didn't gain all of that week, but gained a few pounds but also had to account for the difference in a home scale and a doctor's office type scale. Though, by yesterday I had gone down 2 pounds to 193.

My favorite part of this week by far has been the few comments I've gotten about looking better when I came back to school.

Good Luck with getting your schedule figured out...

April

Buddy up with me! I'm 5'5 186 lbs. medium/large frame, hourglass shape. eat 2000 a day and work out 1+hour 6 days/week.
