Wow, I'm in the exact same place.

I'm 17, 5ft 1 and 117 pounds.

This is my second year of not restriciting or purging, and to be honest it is impossible to get better from an ED while trying to loose weight. I tried over and over again, but the moment you start weighing yourself it starts crushing you. No matter how much better you get, you are never really completely free of an ED. It's been two years, but I still have to remind myself everyday to eat my full calories.

I don't feel comfortable with dieting becuase it makes me want to restrict even more. I'm trying to loose a few pounds with exercise alone.

If you want to try, and trust me it's easy to spiral out of control, make a promise to yourself to eat 1,500 calories a day. I don't know it you are a binger or a restrictor, but it is hard to eat that much food while still feeling in control. Then exercise in ways that make you happy. Take more walks. Lift some weights. Since I also used to over exercise, give yourself a limit to how much exercise you get. Mine is no more than two hours of 'exercise' exercise. I, you know, can walk more and stuff but only two hours. No more.

But, to be honest dieting and getting better just aren't compatable. I wish someone had told that to me a long time ago. It's better to just take one thing at a time, and getting well is THE MOST important thing right now. I know it doesn't seem like it, but soon you'll look back at yourself and be in shock over what you put your body through.

heya

well i ve been restricting then binging then purging so yeah been thro the motions.....

but i still feel so huge you know?? well i m trying to eat regularly to stop the binging like once every 3 hours i m going to try and reach about 1200 calories first ..i m so used to eating like 500 cals hen binging on loads like every few days, its horrible

i ve been inpatient so many times i was ment to go to a special unit but refused to go as i d be huge compared to all the anorxics

anyway how u ??x

You are not fat, you do not look fat, you are in a healthy weight class...I would wait to try losing weight until after you get your perspective back or ask your parents or doctor if they think you need to lose weight.

1200 calories is still only an intermediate goal for you to shoot for, not the correct minimum for a 16 or 17 year old.  Teens need more calories for their bodies to do a lot of internal development so another 300 calories putting you at 1500 calories would be a more accurate minimum, assuming that you're sedentary.

Given that you have an ED, are you consulting your doctor or a nutritionist?  You will need to increase your calorie intake so that your body can lose weight properly before you can lose to a lower normal BMI range.  Not eating enough will actually cause you more problems with weight gain in the long run.

I'm 17 and exactly 5'3 and 120 pounds. I wanna lose weight too. I am really dissatisfied with what I weigh right now. I wanna get down to about 110. 115 would make me feel a million times better too.

You are not fat, you are not overweight...eventually, people will get tired of reassuring you of this and just tell you what you seem to want to hear which may very well reinforce whatever self image issues you may have.  I'd suggest keeping your weight loss goals to those who know you very well or on this site to prevent that from happening.

At 5'3" and 120 pounds, your BMI calculates to just over 21.  This is healthy.  At 5'3" and 110 pounds, your BMI calculates to just under 20 which for CC is considered to be slightly underweight, but for WHO standards is still healthy.

Given that your goal is not unreasonable by WHO standards which I believe CC is looking into adopting in their calculators.  I'd suggest that you start following the nutritional and calorie guidelines suggested on this site.  A calorie deficit of 200-500 calories per day will get you to your goal and not cause you to feel deprived.  Add a bit of strength training exercise to make you look and feel toned and you should be there in no time.  Use the tools in the Weight Loss Welcome sticky that are for teens to calculate your calorie needs because the CC ones are geared for adults and will not give you accurate information.

i ve recently started doing more strength training, definatly make s u feel a hell of a lot better, i hav no idea if i ve lost anything as i dont have a pair of scales at home

x

Hey! I'm 5'3 and 120 pounds, but I'm 15.
Hey I'm 15, 5'2" and 115. I'm also in process of recovering from EDNOS...I'm hoping to get down to about 100

I'm 19, 5' 1" and 119lbs but most of it is muscle from dance, I doubt I could weigh much less than that. Instead of trying to lose weight according to the scales, I'm just trying to lose and fat that is there and replace it with muscle.

I don't care about the numerical weight, more about the way it looks. I work very hard and I want everyone to be able to see the muscles that show this, without having to 'imagine' the wobbly bits away :P I'd actually like to weigh a bit more.

For example, there's a girl in my class who is solid muscle, not an ounce of fat on her to look at, she's 5' 3" and 140 pounds. Now, the scales tell her she's massively overweight, when in fact she's healthier than all of us. So if you're working out with weights or any other sort of strengthening, never be afraid of weight going ON to you because it'll be muscle.

I'm 17, 5'3", and 105 lbs. (e.d.) I'm kind of stuck deciding whether to gain or maintain. I'd probably be healthier at 110, but I doubt I can make myself gain. I get paranoid and exercise everything off..
I'm 5'3, 18, and somewhere between 110 and 115 pounds. Right now I'm pretty happy except for the little bit of belly and upper thigh flab that I'm working on. I've finally accepted that I'll never be the 100 lbs stick I was when I was 16. lol
