5ft 2in girls--what's your goal weight?

Quote  |  Reply

I'm just wondering what your goals are.....I am 5 ft 2 in as well (medium build, 22 years old, female) with a goal of 120 lbs calculated by CC.  I haven't been that weight since I was 15.

I first started out on here at 140-142ish about a month ago, a 10lb gain over 3 months from the 130-132 weight that I maintained without calorie counting for probably 6 years.  After gaining that 10lb (I went into depression when my new boyfriend finished his work project and moved back home 3 provinces away) I luckily stumbled on this site and am determined to embrace a healthier food lifestyle.

I can't believe the difference in how I feel, even after only 4 lbs (so its been rather slow for me at about a pound per week)....I can't believe how much my sugar cravings have lessened.  I can't believe how much food I can actually eat and STILL lose weight.....and its taking a while, but I'm making much better choices now.  I had always thought that you needed to practically starve and exercise a lot to lose weight--so not true!!!

CC is just the greatest help too!  I love the input from other members and the tracking tools.  Anyways, sorry for the huge story, this is my very first post so I guess I had a lot to say....and I apologize for putting it on your post, luvmyboy.

I'd love to hear from other 5ft 2in people and their goal/maintenance weight so I know what I am heading for and what is achievable for me!

Thanks so much,

Melissa

i'm 5'2 and i weight 120lbs. I signed up to this website a little less than a month ago & i was 122. so i've lost 2lbs in about 3 weeks. but i feel like i'm trying to hardd and i'm losing weight to slowly. my goal weight is to be at least 115lbs. it's so frustratinggg

I'm 26 years old and 5'2" with a small frame.  I'm at 126 down from 134.  Throughout most of my life, I've been about 105-115, so even though I've lost, I still feel like I'm carrying too much weight for me.  I'm getting married in September and am aiming to lose another 15 pounds (goal is to be in the best shape of my life).

I've been eating clean and healthy for about three weeks and am working out cardio/strength/core training 5-6 days per week.  The weight is coming off slowly, I feel.  I know muscle weighs more than fat, but I'm ready to see results.  I just have to keep reminding myself to keep upping the intensity and change my routines and I will see results.  But I hear ya on the frustration!!  Good luck to everyone in their efforts.

well, I really wish women would let us know how many children they have had or pregancies.  I mean if they didn't mind.  IT could give a little more insight on a realistic weight.  And what actually is good looking for this height!  I'm 5'2 and currently 136 pounds!!!  I have had three children, my last two are twins and they are 2 years old now!  I was 120-124 last year after really not getting my calories in, but i thought that was the way to lose!  of course that yo-yo-ing led me to gaining it all back fast!  So I am trying ot do it the right way this time, and exercising and trying to get back.  I lvoe to be anywhere under 130!  Even if it were 128, although, I may be lying a bit!  I would love to ge tto 125 and maintain it there on a healthy diet, and not restricting and exericsing my heart out too much.

any other moms out there 5'2"?

I think pregnancy and age are important factors to consider too!  I have one child, 2 years old, and I'm 32.  Right around 29 I realized that I no longer had the ability ignore calories and to drop a few pounds simply by eating healthier and exercising once in a while.  I hit 140 and started to exercise regularly, cutting out junk food, reducing carbs.  I planned to have a 120lb, bikini worthy body for my 30th summer.  I was on track, exercising 3-4 times a week, eating better, I lost 5 pounds, and then I got pregnant.  Yeah, no bikini THAT summer!  After my son was born, it took me about a year to get within 2 lbs of my prepreg weight.  But my regular eating habits no longer work for me, and I've gained about a pound a month for the last 15 months, so I'm about 150 now, and finally fed up enough to work at lossing weight.

I'll be happy when I hit 130, though if I can get down to 125, I wouldn't complain.

I'm 5'2 and my lowest weight ever was 118 after going to Navy bootcamp in the middle of a hot humid Chicago summer 12 years ago.  I think I was too skinny when I look back at the first pictures taken after the weight loss.  Since leaving the Navy 2 years ago and subsequently having a child I am at my heaviest  weight of 167lbs and feel horrible.  I am aiming for 130lbs, which is where I felt the most comfortable. I will be perfectly happy with 130ish or a size 8 which ever comes first.  Happy eating:) Cat

im 140 right now my ultimate goal is 115-120. According to the wrist thing i have a small build but i am proprotioned when i gain weight so i could get away with medium build (im broad and put on muscle easily)

I'm 16, 5ft 2in and 124-126 and I'd be happy with 120 but I really would like to be 115

i'm 5'2" and somewhere between 100 and 110.. im happy where i am thoughh. it's much better than my lowest weight of 83!! :]

I'm 5'2", 37yrs, with two children (4 & 2). I put on a bunch of pounds trying to concieve my first (went from 150 up to 180) with bad food habits. "oh, I won't be able to eat/drink this once I'm pregnant, so I have 2 weeks to gorge on it!" Bad habits.

I gained too much when pregnant with her (max of 202), but got back "down" to 180, then a bit unexpectedly became pregnant again.

I again put on too much with him, bloated up to an all time high of 230 (mostly water then), went down with meds to relieve the bloat, but "gained" back up to 216 as of this March.

I've been back at it (third times the charm!) and have lost about 12# of the 86 or so I want to lose to get to 130. Once I get closer, I'll see how I feel.

I have a large frame, so 130 would not be bad, but if 120 or 125 feels right....

I'm taking it day by day, and realize that the daily weighs show me the TREND, not the hard-fast # (which is why I say roughly 12#). I have a series of non-food related rewards set up for every 5% of original weight loss (10.8#) made - jewelry, a bike, clothes, etc.

I'm looking forward to when I HAVE to buy new clothes, as opposed to just wanting the smaller size. LOL

I try to keep my intake to my BMR - roughly 1500 plus or minus 100 cal. I have a spreadsheet that I created that calculates my BMR and BMI based on my weigh in # - also give me my % to goal, etc. I look at it for inspiration and a reminder that it is a long journey for me - Through the end or close to the end of next year. Unfortunately, due to my daily schedule (FT desk job), I only have time to exercise during lunch, so I am trying to walk at LEAST every other day and combining with intervals when my knees allow.

That's me in a nutshell (baked without oil of course)!

I was 127 when I started working out. I'm aiming for 110-105. Im about 118 right now.

I 'm just over 5'2" and desperately cling to the extra 3/4" that brings me close to 5.3. Am just shy of 41 years old, 2 small kids (they'll be 3 and 5 in early August) and am currently toggling between 115 which is my goal weight and 118 which is the weight my body seems to want to cling to.  (By the way, I haven't been this thin since high school).

To answer the first question, I believe that 115-120 is the perfect weight for most of us at this height because it is thin enough to feel fantastic about our bodies and can be maintained fairly easily.

Don't forget a women needs 1200 calories for all of her organs to function properly and that is just assuming that all of her calories are going toward her organ function, don't forget to add caories for the getting out of bed, getting dressed, walking around the office and if you are exercising don't forget to add calories for that too. If you go below 1200 calories  your body may go into stravation mode and start saving everything you eat as fat. The other thing is you may lose you rperiod, not a healthy sign. If you do see weight gain and you caloric intake is hovering around 12-1400 consider upping it another 100 or 200 calories and you should see the weight start coming off again. If yo lose your period, see a doctor there could be other factors at work besides weight loss.

I'm 5'1" (a bit short for this thread!) and my goal weight is 105, I have a really small frame and I don't think I carry too much muscle weight so I'm not really happy now at 118. I'd also like to tone up my arms and legs but I'm struggling to find the time to get much of an exercise regime set up with lots of studying for exams in the up and coming weeks. Hopefully summer will give me plenty of time to do this.

I'm so glad this thread was started!  It's nice to be around women who have goals similar to mine.  We can all relate to the challenges of being "vertically challenged (lol) and trying to maintain weight.  Last year, I went from 130lbs to 116 for my wedding, and I looked great!  I was the happiest I had ever been.  That was one year ago (my anniversary was monday) and I've gained ALL of it back, +3.  The pressures of living overseas with my husband in the air force drove me to emotionally eat.  I go to the gym regularly and make smart food choices 75% of the time.  There's always that ONE thing every day that messes me up.  I'll eat perfectly all day, then my husband will want chinese food and I just couldn't say no >.<

Until now ;-)  My current weight is 133.  I have a goal of 119 by July 14, with an overall goal of 115.

I am 5'2" and my goal weight is 140.  It sounds like my goal weight is higher then most people that replied to your question but once I get to 140 I can be proud that I accomplished it and re-assess my goal if I feel that 140 is still too heavy for me.

BMI charts and most other websites put us in a category of 120-125 pounds but remember it does take into account body frame and other individual factors.  I say go for 140 lbs and then re-assess when you hit that goal.  It's safe and accomplishable.

Best of luck to you.

I'm 5'2"  21 years old, no kids (thank goodnes! haha) My current weight is 135, my goal weight is 125.  I've lost about twenty lbs over the past year, but i seem to not be able to get out of the 135's!

I am 5'2" and weigh 209.  I started using CC about a week ago and have lost 1lb.  I'm kinda disappointed, since I've really been watching my calories and have increased my exercise.  I think the problem is that I haven't been as consistent about the exercise...  But I'm working on it.  My ultimate goal is to reach 125lbs.  But I'm going to break it down into smaller goals, so it doesn't seem so overwhelming.

Good luck everyone!

jamjen638 - I have added you as a friend!  Our stats are so close!!  both 5'2", I just turned 22, no kids, and a current weight of 135, which is down 5 lbs from what I gained from December to March.  Right now I'm shooting for 125 as well, maybe even 120 if I can comfortably maintain there....

Thanks to EVERYONE!  I am really glad to hear from so many other people who are "blessed" with the same height!!

Like my great-grandmother used to say (and she didn't even make 5 ft):  "Good things come in small packages and so does dynamite!!  (and poison too, LOL)

So cheers to all of us and I wish you success on your weight loss journey!!

Hi Melissa,

CC has set my goal at 123lbs, but like you I haven't seen that weight for a long, long time.  I'm making my first goal 175, then will take it 10 lbs at a time until I get to 145.  At that point I'll decide if I think I can get down to 123.

I hear you all! I'm 24, almost 25! My highest weight was 180 , my lowest 128, right now I'm in 138 (I was 132  but I'm such an emotional eater, so I gained 6 back in just one month). My goal by June 17th (my birthday!) is 128 and my dream weight is 122.

I've been lurking and posting around this site but it's just until last monday I started to log here every little thing I eat and actually following the suggestions it says. It says I should eat 1200 cals a day, so I'm doing that plus I'll start kickboxing classes next week (not this week 'cause I'm out of money! lol)

I really hope this site and all of you help me go through this challenge, I'm glad we are so many in the same boat.

Btw, is there any weigh in day or something, just to keep an eye on eachothers progress.

Hugs to all and good luck.

we should definitely do a weigh-in day or something.  I think it would help motivate us and keep us on track to our goals.  Let's get something going!
