full body strength training 3 times a week???
ok, so i was wondering if strength training 3 times a week, still doing hiit, intervals & light running, is a good idea?
im planning to start a new regime (i do that about every 6-8 weeks) in a couple of weeks.
from the time my new regime starts, i have 6 weeks before i get married. im trying to look as 'cut' as i can for the honeymoon. i know diet is key, but for me exercising is almost about 40% of why i look much better than before.
EDIT: or would 2 days of full strength training & another day of circuit type of strength training sound better???
thanks melkor. and a big THANKS to entersandlady for sending me a doc with still pictures of the exercises to take to the gym, helped ALOT
.
workout B kicked my a** tho, i couldn't complete all the sets! if you think you are in shape, this plan will definately make you rethink that. oh well, i can only get better. still wish i could do the pull up moves tho, but the burpees suffice.
melkor one more question (sorry). do you think that 200-300 calories deficit a day is ok while on this program? im going away to get married in 5 weeks. while i want to look cut as much as possible as soon as possible, but i do not want to compromise my immune/recovery system or energy by taking too big of a deficit. on top of this i walk 90 minutes total every day to/fro work.
cheers
Hey, don't be sorry - I wouldn't be doing this if I didn't like answering questions ;)
I ran calorie deficits of up to 1000 on this program, but its pretty universally understood that I'm crazy - your plan sounds a lot more reasonable :)
um, not that im complaining & all and maybe its the scale (its not mine) but i seemed to have lost 4.5lbs this week from last thurs. its just a bit freaky, last time it happened, i think i lost some muscle. but i dont feel weak in anyway like the last time, in fact pretty energetic for all the workouts i've been doing.
ok its been 4 weeks, did my last workout of week 4 today. 2 more weeks to go. i must say i've been feeling great. i must be doing something right with my nutrition and the exercises. altho not doing so well with the deficit as i've been to many restaurant dinners & such.
this week the workouts were so much easier (relatively speaking) that i was happy about my progress but a little sad cuz i know im not burning as many calories as previous weeks, but that's the way it goes.
first week i only did 1 workout A & B, just easing myself into it. second week, i did full everything & lost 4.5lbs. 3rd week (bad time of month) didn't do all reps/sets but i did increase the weight (maybe a little too much at one stage as i nearly toppled over on some exercises). so far up until the 3rd i've only done interval running for 3 weeks. 4th week did everything including interval running & hiit.
i noticed i didn't do all the exercises exactly as they did on the url but i made sure to do it this week. as i said my deficit hasn't been very consistent but so far i've lost 3.5lbs, most of it the first week or so. i must say my shoulders look more developed tho, while my triceps a little less. the shoulders are even slightly more developed than on my pics.
the plan is also making me do a couple of things i would probably not do which are push ups (hate) & using the stationary bike (boring) at the gym. and i have not strained anything like i have a tendency to do. which is good because it some times sets me back on my progress.
my daily endurance threshold is way up. i don't think i've actually felt this healthy & physically alive, maybe ever. thanks melkor.
and i would completely recommend this program for anyone increasing their endurance if you are not look to for real fat fast loss
