Hello all!  My name is Danielle and I'm brand new to the site... this is officially day 1.  I'm 28 - 5,3 - 179lbs. and looking to lose 40-50lbs.  I had a baby seven months ago and I want my body back!   I'm trying the calorie counting for the first time and working out as much as possible.  I suffer from low motivation with bouts of weak will power and would love a few friends to help keep me in check.  Looking forward to meeting you all.

hey everybody!  i just turned 22 and i'm from WI.  i'm 5'5, and until about the last year or so i had always been at 180, and i'm now weighing in at 220!  so i need to lose a good 80 lbs or so.  i've always played sports throughout high school and was equally muscley and chubby, but since college started it's a lot less muscley and a lot more chunky.  it's tough because i don't have the time to make really good meals or eat little meals 6 times a day when i work and am on campus all the time, and being on a college budget doesn't help because all the cheapest food is the worst for you! plus factor in all the bar weekends and drunken pizza pig outs and the list goes on.

i'm going backpacking through india for a month at the end of may and i need to be free of  most of this extra fat and get some muscle back.  besides being slimmer, i want to just be HEALTHIER.  overeating is definitely my worst problem because i won't eat for hours and hours and then i'll gorge myself late at night.

today is my first day on the site and i cannot wait to really stick with this and turn a new leaf.  i'm so glad i found it, i know it'll be so much easier with the constant support of everyone! thanks margod!

doowhacker - welcome!  college is a tough time (for girls especially) to keep fit.  I am only 5'0 and when i was in college, i gained 20 pounds, which on a short person, it looks like i gained a lot more than that!  Then over the summer i would lose it, and then back on campus, i would gain it back.  I think it is VERY important to try to work out as much as possible (both for your health and stress level... college + work + social life = STRESS).

Where in India will you be going?  I studied over there for a month while I was in college.  It changed my life!  Hope you like mutton and spicy food!

I'm 20 and I want to loose 80 lbs just to I'm a healthy weight for a 5'5" girl. Plus I'm getting married soon so it'll be nice to not walk down the aisle in a fat dress. I already did sweet 16 and jr prom and prom in a fat dress, so maybe for my wedding I won't have to.

Just looking to make friends.

Hey, my name is Mandy! I am 21, 5'9.5 and my goal is to loose 18 pounds by March 31st. I have been at it one week today and have lost 3 pounds, 15 more to go. Good luck everyone!

hey mlbryan thanks for the welcome :) i do have a membership to a gym but i'll be completely honest, i hate going unless it's about 2 in the morning because i'm so embarrassed about my extra fat jiggling all over!  i've worked out 3 times/week for the last 2 weeks and it's been pretty good -- cardio as well as weight training.

as for India, i would absolutely love to hear some of your stories and get suggestions on where to go!  i'm flying in with 2 friends to New Dehli and our plan was to stay about a week there, then fly down to somewhere in Goa and make our way around to the south east over the next 3 weeks, then fly back up to Dehli to fly home (although we're also making a pit stop on the way home in Paris for 5 days!)

Bess

p.s. i should probably know this, but what's mutton?

Hi!!  I'm totally new too!!  Just trying to figure this out but I saw the fun girl post and thats me!!!  I live in Texas now but am about to move to Minnesota.....just trying to get on the weigt loss wagon before I move.....50 punds by November!  I am such a on-again, off-again dieter, so this time I figured maybe if I talk to people and meet people in the same boat as me I can stay motivated!!!  Hit me up....:)

Hi to all the new people!! What's new with everybody? What is everybody's favorite exercise?

My favorite cardio is spinning, my favorite weight lifting exercise is the dead lift.

Hey everyone! My name is Carisa, I've been on this site for about two weeks now and I love it!! I am 30 and have three young boys. My youngest is six months and I gained more weight than necessary! I am 5'3 and weigh 146, my goal is 120 by May 1st.  I definitely agree with you at33, after 28-30 you really have to work to lose anything. I am from western NY, near Erie PA! I am so glad I found this forum.
By the way my favorite exercise is step aerobics! I need the pressure of other people watching me to keep me motivated and moving!

Mutton is sheep.  That is very prevalent.  Also a lot of vegetarian because of the Hinduism.

India is an amazing country.  New Dehli is industrial so that will be a good way to ease yourself into the culture.  I assume you will take a train out to the Taj then?  Seriously, it looks fake from far away because it is so white!

The majority of my time was spent in Chennai.  I took classes in Madras Christian College (they had a partnership w/some of the midwest colleges).  I would highly recommend going down there.  It is pretty typical India.  Also, we took a weekend trip to Mahabalipuram... this place was AMAZING!  Beach resort.  Anyway, in the south, they do this head wobble thing.  It is hard to explain, but once you see it, you'll know.  And all it means is that they are listening to you and understand you.  That was one of the most difficult things for us to get used to because we thought they were nodding yes or no.

Wow, you are going to have soooooooo much fun!  I'm jealous.  Be sure to take some digestive medicine.  :-)

at33 - i have similar goals... i'm at 139 and my first goal is to get down to 129 and then ultimately, i would like to be somewhere between 115 and 125.  you're 32??? i guess you're not really a "fun girl in her 20s"... I guess we can allow it.  Wink

halo_620 - i live in MN!  are you moving to the twin cities?  i have to say that i love it up here... but um, are you aware of the winters?  the high today is 3 degrees.  but you should still move up here anyway!

fav exercise - gotta be running or like, hip hop dance but i haven't done that since high school.  running calms me.

fav weight lifting - bench press - i see my progress the most here.  i'm up to 60 pounds!

set24: eliptical! (sp?) love love love it! i do it for an hour three days a week and let me tell you...with some nice jams on the ipod i wouldn't say the time flies, but i isn't a huge killer, that's for sure! today i burned almost 800 calories on that thing! good stuff and super low impact for those of you out there with sensative knees, like me!

hi my name is Erica and I will be 25 in the next few months...I think its time for me to try to lose weight...I am so scared I am not going to stick to it (Like I usually don't stick to diets) but I don't wanna hit the 200 lb mark....I am like 20 pounds from that but u know, I am being stubborn to do this!!! Please check up on me LOL....

Hey Girls!

My name is Kristen.  I'm 22.  I'm from St. Louis, mo.  And would love to motivate any of you and vice versa.  Send me a message.

XOXOXO

Hey everybody! Good to see so many fun girls here! I'm so jealous of those of you still in college! I miss it so much.

My favorite workout is yoga. I'm LOVING it! Also getting better at jogging. I can get into a zone now and just go and go and go. My weight has kind of stagnated, but I'm wondering if it's gaining new muscle versus losing fat? I do feel great though. Stronger and more flexible.

I've also been posting a journal entry nearly every night. It helps summarize my day and then get ready for the next one. I never wrote a diary when I was younger, it's kind of fun!

I'm totally bored at work today, does anyone have any funny gym stories to tell? I was on the treadmill awhile ago and this woman got on the treadmill next to me and started pushing buttons and the next thing I knew, she just flew off the back like something out a movie. It was hilarious/horrifying! We all ran over to see if she was okay, she was. And then she left.
