Fun Girls in their 20's for Motivation!!!
Reason: Moved to the Motivation forum (since name indicates that is it's purpose anyway :) Thank you!
I started out by only doing cardio and found myself just getting frustrated. It wasn't until I decided that I didn't care if I looked like an idiot and began using free weights that I started to see a difference. I think the strength training is more important that cardio. Slowly but surely!
28 years old female from Michigan with the goal of finally getting healthy and fit.
Hey everyone! My name is Danielle. I am 20 years old going on 21 in June (yikes drinking calories) I didn't get to read all the comments, but I was curious...am I the only MAINAH here?? (thats the state of Maine
) I love that there are so many young people on this site!
I'm 5'3, 135lbs and trying to lose 15 pounds. I was always 110-115 when I played sports consistently, but I don't think i could get back to that unless I did vigorous exercise every day of the week...no thanks!
Hey there all you fun girls! I'm Shanna and I'm 23 in good ole South Louisiana. I actually have been faithfully counting calories and exercising for one month today (I started on Jan 1st). I've lost 11 pounds so far (yay!), but looking to lose about 45 more to get down to 130ish. I love reading through this post and seeing all you other girls my age on the site. Feel free to message me or add me as a friend. I love friends! :)
Oh, and this weekend is Mardi Gras, so It's going to be really hard to stay motivated. I'll do my best though! :)
NO Jessica- You are most certainly not the only one here with insane cravings....
I still havent had a Big Mac and I'm proud of myself.
However, Ok so question, my burn meter says with my delightfully sedentary lifestyle I should burn 2030 calories and should consume 1650 to lose weight.
Some days I consume more and some I consume less, I have also started going back to curves 3 times a week and I did Zumba last friday, but so far I've only lost 2 lbs....
Any ideas?
Hey Jess - I think if you want to lose weight quicker with a 'sedentary' (ahh, I love that word) lifestyle, you may have to cut down the cals a bit more. I work out about 5 times a week and eat about 1500-1600 cals per day, and I'm only losing 2 lbs a week.
I think you'll def still lose weight, but maybe just slower.
And speaking of cravings, I just fell into one. I just shoved some Russel Stovers valentine's day candies down my throat. I don't even really like Russel Stovers...but it's candy...and its bad for you. And those two added together somehow equal delicious. Funny how it works out like that.
HI Margod! i'm Jenny. I am looking to lose about 25lbs as well. I'm 25, 5'6 and 150. I'm a fun girl from Alabama. Any motivation i can get i will greatly appreciate.
Cravings are hard for me...i have had the Russell Stovers moment, more than once!
Any other Southern Girls?
26 from Texas, 20-25lbs to go, only been on here a week, but VERY determined! I am so discouraged because i was down 3 lbs the first week, but i have been so effing bloated since Sat i don't even want to go near the scale. I drink like 4 liters of water a day! Anyways, everyone keep up the good work, I find these threads helpful!
Oh yeah, does anyone else really struggle on the weekends? Being a "fun" girl in her 20s, we often go out for drinks (i stick to white wine) and at times end up eating late night or perhaps needing something greasy the next day - maybe why i ended up 30 lbs overweight in college!
Joanne- Yea.... I've been trying to cut back... have been having a tough time finding stuff that fills me up and isnt a whole crap-ton of calories. I dont know, trying really hard to keep it lower than that and am religiously going to Curves at least 3x week and Zumba and now possibly Kickboxing too...lol I'm trying.
However, a bonus- even though I only have lost between 2-5lbs regularly, I tried on a dress today and it looked better and I have gone in a notch in my belt. So maybe its the fact that I'm strength training and drinking a ton of water that is just maintaining or losing reeeeaaaallly slowly, because I think I notice a difference in my body. Cant be sure, but I think so.
Anyway, thanks for the advice.... I'm just finding it difficult to stay full with low calories...
Jillsarah- Yes, I totally struggle on the weekends- I like to get the chocolaty drinks too, like hot cocoa with chocolate and peppermint liquor in them, and I really like the fancy shots, so I hear ya.... I just try to make sure that its only one night that I do that. Course, the rest of the weekend- food is the issue.
So I have no answers only agreement for that :)
jillsarah - omg the weekends are the worst!!! a couple weekends ago i tried "saving" calories by just eating broccoli for dinner so i could have an extra drink or 2 at the bar. totally backfired. i forgot that my tolerance was lower due to lack of food in the system and ended up pretty sick the next day... which then led me to eating pizza (i'm sorry, but the only hangover cures i know involve greasy food or mayo-drenched sandwiches). so yeah, totally defeated the purpose. i don't recommend it. anyway, i have found that as long as i work out most days, i can have a slip up on friday and/or saturday and i'm usually fine.
but yeah, more of my problem is the food on the weekend... who wants to make their own food on the weekend? i mean, come on!
mlbryan - exactly! Everyone wants to go eat lunch somewhere, and even if I have the willpower to go for a healthier option it is still going to put me over. The best thing I have found is to just eat at home and fill up on fruit and stuff for snacks (for some reason, I never seem to get full on my normal breakfast or lunch on a Saturday...)
To avoid extra bloating, I drink a bunch of water with every drink i have, this seems to help with next day headaches and calories! Best of luck.
Hey girls! I'm 23 years old from Michigan! I'm 5'5 and currently around 129/130. I used to weigh 155 in high school (5 years ago), and went on a drastic diet of only liquids and lost 20 pounds in 2 weeks! That was the end of my senior year in HS. I have managed to maintain around 130 for the past year or so. My goal is around 125 or 120. Really - i want to be toned!!
I have BED disorder. Binge/restrict. I've always wanted to eat HEALTHY... and i do good for a few days, or even a week... but then tempting food comes along and it ruins my WHOLE day!! I end up just eating like crap ALL day long... it sucks :(
I dont really belong to any other "groups" on here. Figured this one would be good, girls my age... keep me motivated.
I'm going to try and start fresh today, since it's the first of the month. I belong to a gym, love doing Turbo Jam (or other workout videos) at home, and usually keep a food journal on paper, as well as on here.
Good luck to everyone and i'll be back soon!
jillsarah - water is a good idea. sometimes it makes me feel worse though. but it certainly does help w/the extra calories. if i drink 1.5 to 2 nalgene bottles of water a day, i always eat less because it fills be up. but it seriously is annoying to be running to the bathroom constantly. oh well...
And here comes the weekend... good luck everyone!
Hi folks!! Tonight, I was soooo hungry for a giant bag of greasy potato chips with some sour cream and onion dip. It was seriously all I could think about. When I get these cravings, having just a bite or two does not help.
So, to beat my craving, I bought Lays light potato chips (only 75 calories for 20 chips and 0 fat) and dipped them into fage 0% greek yogurt with dried french onion soup dip mixed in. It was really yummy and a good amount only cost me about 250 calories!! Yay!!!
What is everybody doing for the Super Bowl?
Hi all, I am 24 years old, from missouri. Just started my 3rd week with CC and i am down 5.2 lbs... 30 more to go!!!
I need some major motivation to keep going, this is the longest i have ever made it on a diet!
