Hey girls...

Looking through groups for a 20's something group and lookie I found it. :)

My name is Leah, I am 24 years old, 5'3", started at 140 back on January 9th and now I am at 135.4 pounds.   My goal is 125 by April and 115 by the mid summer.

My weekly routine (just felt like mentioning it) is 3 days a week doing a 30 minute power walk,  1 day a week doing a 45 - 60 minute walk, and Pilate's/Calisthenics 3 days a week.

So yah that's what I have to say.  *waves hi*

Hi everyone.

I'm a 22 year old silly gal named Tanya. My height is 5'2'', and I was pretty heavy through most of my childhood and teenage years. My heaviest weight was 170. This past summer I decided to get into gear and get healthy. Now I weigh 130.

My goal weight is 125 or 123. Whichever. I really don't mind having a little fluff. ;)

Jellykiss - wow!  That's awesome!  What's your secret?  What does your work out plan look like?

Keep it up!  Very inspirational!  I am 5'0 and started the year at 140.  I'm down to 136... slowly but surely, right?  My goal right now is to get to 130.  Then I would like to get down closer to 120.

Way to go!

How's everyone else doing?

mlbryan- Thank you! Congratulations on your progress too! :D

My workout plan has been very improvised. When I was at college in the fall, I took advantage of the gym. I used a combo of eliptical and stationary bike for an hour three times a week and kept to a reduced calorie diet. Now that I'm at home, I like to jog everyday for twenty minutes(hour on weekends).

My motivation is purely emotional.  An immediate family member died, following my boyfriend of three years breaking up with me over the summer. A lot of sadness and alot of changed priorities.

Good luck to you and everyone. May all your goals be reached.

Umm - weekends are THE WORST. Especially when you take a long weekend and go on a 4-day bender. And yes, I'm speaking from experience.

I've been doing this for 4 weeks and have lost 8 lbs, then this weekend I literally drank and ate my way through 4 days of madness and somehow gained 6 back. Is that even possible? How can one (me) gain 6 lbs in 4 days? I'm banking on being bloated and hoping when I hop on the scale tomorrow my 'real' number comes up.

This is hard Cry

joanne - hang in there!  just don't let it ruin everything.  I'm sure you have made some healthy changes to your life and if you stick to them, the weight will fall off again.

I'm totally not weighing myself this week.... yep, it's that time of the month and I know i'll be disappointed.  so I'm taking a free week and will weigh myself again on Monday.

Hey!

I'm Beckie, a 23 year old from South Carolina. I'm 5'11 and I currently weight 198 pounds...ugh. When I was pregnant I gained 85 pounds and now I am finally getting it off, I've lost 42 pounds already, and have gone from a size 18 to a size 12, which has made me happy, but I'm aiming for more. I'm trying to get down to 165, my pre-pregnancy weight before May, when my husband and I go for our 5th anniversary trip to St. Pete.

Good luck everyone!

ML - Thanks. I'm going to follow your lead and only weigh myself once a week. The 6 lbs I gained disappeared, PLUS 4 more when I weighed myself 2 days later (10 lbs in 2 days!), so I must have been carrying a crapload of water weight. I totally freaked myself out, but all is well.

How's everyone else doing?

joannep - nice work!!!!

seriously, sometimes scales are not helpful.

Everyone else doing well????

mlbryan - I am doing well, although this morning there was no shift in my weight.

My mom took me and my sister out for chinese food for lunch and even though I ate half of my calories for the day I was still good about it, ate lots of veggies and not a lot of meet. and some sushi, but a lot of the calories came from wonton and soup and sushi.  For dinner I am going to have a big salad with lite dressing and I did go 350 over my cal limit, BUT since I shovelled snow for 2 hours today, damn snow storm.   I still have a 500-1000 deficit.

HI!  I'm 24, 25 in July (quarter-life!!Undecided).  I'm looking to lose at LEAST 15 lbs, but ideally 30 lbs.  I'm 5'1" so extra lbs really show up on a short frame!  I'm from MA, living in GA.

I gave off procrastinating for Lent, so I can't have any lame excuses to skip working out, but I still definitely need the motivation!! !

I stay in this window that oscillates in a 5 lb. window...I'd like to stay in that lower range, but I'm not sure why I'm fluctuating so much.

Please help motivating me to keep up my workouts and keep me from hoovering some pepperoni-pineapple pizza!!

Hey ladies! Glad to see there are so many other 20-somethings looking to get healthy and still have fun. I'm 22, also from Oregon and looking to get back down to a healthy BMI in time for swimsuit season. This is the longest I've ever stuck with anything like this and I don't plan on stopping anytime soon. I'd love to meet anyone who'd like to swap recipes or can help keep me motivated and I'd gladly return the favor.

hey girls! im 21 and from philly. Im trying to lose 20-25 pounds before summer and I need some motivation! i loveee eating and cooking and i cant seem to curb my appetite.. id love to exchange recipes and motivation with some of you!

So, Officially getting frustrated.

I was working hard to count the calories for a while and have only lost 5lbs.

I gave up logging for a while- was still watching what I ate, but just not obsessing, and I didnt lose anything. Although I have been going to Curves 3 days a week and Zumba on Friday nights. So at least I'm sticking with that.

Now my mom suggested Weight Watchers so she gave me the book or whatever... which is nice, but that was just yesterday... I dont know I guess I'll get back to doing both.

On the upside, went to my moms yesterday and tried on the wedding dress- I could fit into it!!! Hallelujah!! The only prblem is I need to lose a few lbs more because I have armpit/over the arm ooze going on (its a strapless dress)...so gotta work on that- anyone have any ideas?

congrats on fitting into the dress jess!!!!  that's awesome!  that dreaded armpit ooze.... no idea how to fix it!!!  i've been lifting weights and focusing on strenthening my chest and it is having no effect on that.  if you figure it out, let me know!!!

I love this site, I think its been really helpful for me as far as answering questions and jumpstarting my fitness/diet routine. I also think that keeping connected is a great way to stay motivated. Its also wonderful to recieve positive reinforcement from real people living real lives, unlike the completely rediculous advice and tactics you read in so many magazines. I recently started a blog to help share my stories and setbacks, and to hopefully encourage others and keep myself motivated! Check it out and let me know what you guys think!
