Funny/Strange remark

Quote  |  Reply

So, I was at an office party on friday (didn't eat cake).   It was a roundtable type party.  I was talking about how fast time goes b/c it is julia's first birthday on July 30th.  One person piped up "I feel like she's older" -which I didn't find strange; but another person piped up "That's becuase every other word out of her mouth is Julia!!"

Yes-  I'm declaring the fact that I'm a proud momma and I will not stop talking about my Julia!!!  Laughing

I just thought maybe that person was trying to tell me something......LMAO!

Aww, I'm the same way already and my Pearly is 7 weeks!

Just wondering, does this person have children? I get the strangest comments from people with kids, mostly (bad) advice). :)

You talk about her as much as you want!  Julia, Julia Julia!  Shout it from the roof tops.  I do not have children of my own but I am a step mother to a wonderful funny little 4-yr-old.  I find myself talking about him ALL the time as well.  I would be worried if a co-worker didn't talk about their baby all the time.  Tell that lady/man to lock it up!  You do what you want!Smile

LMAO Thanks Ladies!

And, ironically, this person does have a son who is 25!!  I will never stop talking about her.  She sometimes rolls her eyes when I talk about how good Julia is....like "shut up already, we know you have a great baby that eat and sleeps."  Tongue out

I talk about my kids all the time. Sometimes, I feel like people just don't know what else to talk to me about.

I just think to myself that the people who roll their eyes are just jealous that they didn't/don't/won't have beautiful, perfectly behaved children like I do! Laughing

I can't believe someone would actually say that out loud.

Keep it up Vanessa, I still talk about my kids and they are 22 and 20! You must be a wonderful Mom.

I know all my friends and family think I am nuts, I talk about my kids more than anything else I am with them all day everyday. What else would I talk about? They are the people I hang out with the most, it is alot better with them anyhow they don't try to stab you in the back or try to dominate a conversation they are also greatful for the littlest things who else starts dancing around when you tell them dinner is ready.

I agree - talk about your kid(s) as much as you want.

But don't expect other people to want to hear about it.

An anonymous quote I came across recently:  "A gossip talks about others.  A bore talks about himself.  A great conversationalist talks about YOU!"

Funny and true in a catch-22 sort of way.

I think people can easily get annoyed when people talk abotu ANY one thing alot, be it a child, car, pet, new (fill in the blank). But oh well talk about what you wnat and if they are that annoyed by it, they can leave the conversation :-)

i agree 100% amayou82.  I figure it's better to talk about happy babies and happy lives instead of gossiping, work complaining, and blaming others for not getting work done.

Although; pre-baby; I got annoyed at people who were "sunny" like me.

It is very strange how one little person can change you.  ce la vie.  I'm sure with my 2nd I'll just complain about how tired I am and how hard it is to toilet train little ones.  LOL!

I AGREE!  Sometimes I think to myself that I talk about my awesome step daughter too much, but hey...I might not be a biological mom to a little one yet, but this is as good as it gets for me right now and I'm loving every minute of it! I say celebrate your motherhood!
