I'm going to keep this simple - i'm 5'11 and weigh about 128lbs, male, 19 yrs old.

I've got to be heavier by a FEW POUNDS by the middle of july.

I realise this simply can't be done in muscle, it will nearly all be fat, but how many calories should I be eating a day if I maintain on about 1700-2000?

3500 kcal+maintenance=1lb weight

hehe, it's not easy

but by god man spread it over a fewdays!

maybe +300 - 500 every day

+500 should IN THEORY equal a pound a week

it varies though

Wow, we're almost twins. I'm 19 (almost), male, 5'11 and weigh 133lbs. If you maintain on 2000 calories, and you want to gain 3lbs (you said few right?) then like peanut_butter said, eat 2500 calories every day. What is your goal weight? Mine is 145 pounds.

I haven't set myself a goal weight, i just need to have more bulk in three weeks.

2500 cals a day for the last week hasn't seemed to do much at ALL, is this because my body has just adjusted to this new level of calories?

If i need more bulk in three weeks should i perhaps be aiming for more like 3000 a day?

Y'know they got like a calorie calculator right? for me (a moderate active person) i need 2600 cal to just to maintain weight, so i think u should maybe try to raise it to 2800-3000. of course this depends on how active you are and so on.... =) good luck

Eeek 3000 sounds a frightening amount...but i suppose that to actually bulk up in three weeks I need to do some serious over-eating, it's just such an un-natural thing to do, especially as i'm trying to recover from an ED.

Has anyone else here had to do this? Very rapid weight gain?

If 3,000 calories is enough then that's how much you should eat. I maintain on 3,000 so I can't tell you if you'd gain or not.

The easiest/healthiest way to increase your calorie intake that much is with Protein shake with peanut butter, fruit, low fat ice cream added. I know a few people who had to do that and it worked nicely while allowing them the additional calories but in the way of protein and carbs rather than high fat.
