Would you gain the same weight from veggies as chocolate?

Are all calories the same?

Say you eat 100 calories worth of veggies (or other healthy foods) ,, OR 100 calories worth of chocolate(or something unheathly)

Would you stil gain as much weight/fat as you do from the veggies as if you would from the chocolate? why?

yes, a calorie is a calorie. It is a measure of energy. So 100 calories is 100 calories no matter where you get it.

However, you will be full from 100 calories of veggies, and 100 cal of chocolate is only a handful and you will still be hungry. Also, the veggies have nutrients and fiber that the chocolate doesn't.

Yea I have to agree with kodischild, 100 calories of cooked vegetables is going to be 3 or more cups compared to the 4 Hershey Kisses you will get.  Horrible to have to make these comparisions but that is exactly how I keep from eating those bad foods.

I use to like to have an occasional drink and I drink Black Russians (Vodka & Kahlua). But when I realized that each one of those was equal to about half a steak, well you can probably guess what I decided to go with.

As an anorexia recoverer you should probably stop categorising foods as 'unhealthy'...  There are no bad foods, only bad diets.   A common feature of eating disorders is an irrational fear of things like fats, 'carbs' and sweets.

If you want to reshape your body ("How do I lose the stomach fat") the very worst thing you could do is restrict your calories.... as this may lead to a relapse.  Choose good quality foods the majority of the time but include some 'fun foods' like chocolate in the mix since that is the way to get a normal, balanced diet.  Make sure you're getting enough calories for a teen ( http://www.bcm.edu/cnrc/bodycomp/bmiz2.html) and be as active as possible.

It depends on what you need.  If you need to satisfy your appetite and take in lots of nutrients and fiber, then eat 3 cups of vegetables and be happy.  If you need a momentary burst of goodness in a couple of bites, then eat the chocolate.  The first nourishes your body and the second nourishes the pleasure center of your brain.

But why not have both?  Eat a good balanced diet of all the food groups, and once in a while have a bite of really good chocolate.  Both can fit into a healthy diet.
