why do i gain weight when eating healthy?

Quote  |  Reply
so from monday to thursday, i ate around 1250 - 1450 calories without intense exercise. instead of losing or at least maintaining, i went up a pound on friday morning! it wasn't water weight, cuz i have a body percent scale. now i'm trying to get rid of that pound.

weight fluctuates i wouldn't worry about it esspecially since your just starting out
weight fluctuates, because you're retaining water, but i wasn't. i weighed myself first thing in the morning after using the washroom. i'm not just starting out. i've been doing it since december.
Is it possible that your scale is incorrect?
If you only ate a maximum of 1450 cals a day, there's no way you could have gained a pound of fat.  To do that, you would have had to eaten 3,500 calories above your normal expediture during those four days.

Besides, you don't get rid of all your water weight when you use the bathroom first thing in the morning.  Your tissues will still have a lot of water in them, especially if you've had a lot of sodium lately.

I agree with Sublime - it's probably normal body fluctuations.
my weight goes up and down all the time, by about a kilo a day - I can be 92 or 93 or anywhere inbetween but it doesn't mean I've actually put on weight in the grand scheme of things, it's jsut what my body does.  I guess most people are the same, my boyfriend's weight changes everyday aswell.  Yuo should't weight yourself too regularly or you pick up on those little fluctuations - it doesn't give you a true picture of what your weight is doing.  Try to weigh yourself once a week or less and thsat should show you a better picture of how things are going.

I'm sure you're doing really well - I don't think I've ever only eaten 1450 calories in a day so that's something good!
I wouldn't freak out and call it a pound of fat unless that pound has been on you for a week.  If you weighed and you were 1lb more for 1 day, it's really not cause for concern.  I'm sure you'll see it drop off tomorrow or the next day.
Check what your sodium intake was yesterday.
