Will I gain weight?
Hiya - I am FINALLY happy with my body and trying to maintain my new weight. Unfortunatlely, I am really nervous about indulging incase I ruin all my hard work! I cycled 23 miles today (cycling for around 2 1/2 hours) and have eaten 3000calories today. I usually maintain on around 2000calories per day with light exercise. Will i gain any weight?
I don't think anyone here can tell you that - your body is too individual to be able to say.
I would recommend you just keep close tabs on your weight, and when the scale starts going up, you know you need to eat a bit less or exercise a bit more.
I don't think that you or anyone can gain any significant amount of weight just in one day - stick with your plan and you wont notice any changes at the end of the week .
Well, when you enter in your exercise in the CC website, how many calories does it say you've burned? It will depend on your weight and effort involved. When I do an hour and a half of bike riding (about 30km, or 19 miles), it says I've burned just over 1000 calories. So I would suspect you haven't messed yourself up at all, or at least not badly, if at all.
I find that I'm starving after commuting to/from work (that's the 30km). I do eat heavier those days than I do other days, although I try not to eat 1000 calories extra. Maybe 500, instead. Split the difference. So I pack extra healthy/filling snacks on those days, to make sure I can eat good food, rather than having to eat whatever junk is around the office, like unhealthy vending machine food.

If it's an isolated splurge, I'd say no, you won't gain weight. If you make this a habit, then yes, you probably will.
I had a big splurge on Thursday (3500 calories when I usually eat under 2000) and I was actually down on the scale the next day.
I like what I read here on a regular basis: a single day's overeating isn't going to cause to you gain weight any more than a single day's undereating will make you lose weight.
What type of food should not be eaten?
Calorie Count does not prescribe a particular diet or tell people to avoid particular foods. We only ask that you eat a balanced diet... Read more
