Let's Gain Some Weight :)

Quote  |  Reply

After months of making excuses, lying, and ultimately being a huge weiner, it's time for me to commit to gaining weight.  I've been using the "but my BMI is in the healthy range..." excuse for far too long...one more month of these destructive habits, and it won't be.  I'm in my first year of university, I should be at parties, meeting people, having fun, not counting every calorie that passes my lips and maing excuses to stay at home alone and either starve or binge.

I've had my wake up call.  Four days ago, I was hit by a car.  I was uninjured, but it made me realize how short life can be.  It could be snatched from you at any second.  I've decided that I don't want to waste my precious time with this stupid...disease.

This time, I've told friends that I want to gain weight.  They don't know about the disorder, but I'm sure they could guess.  This time, I mean it.

But, as excited as I am to get back on track, I'm new to this, and scared...I'm sure you guys know the sort of fears I'm talking about.  So if anyone has any tips for a loser-turned-gainer, feel free to share :)

First of all im so glad youve made the decison to beat this. it will be hard but you can do it and everyone here is behind you . yes your scared but all those fears and worry wil get better as you get healthier. i dont know what your eating at te moment but my advice to you would be to up your calories by 200 every few days until you reach 2500 this is the least you should be having to gain . see how you go from there i dont know your stats or age you may need more. make sure you eat 3 meals and snacks off good nutrition for example cereal and milk 2 toast butter and jam for breakfast ,   a snack of say a glass of milk a banana and a cereal bar lunch of a couple of baps with filling and a pudding etc. use the weight gain what did you eat today, and post your meals so we can help support you. are you seeing a theapist and a dietican i would advice this . message me anytime goodluck helen xx

SmileIts great to hear your ready to get yourself fully better, life is short and can be taken from us at any time, so make the most of it while you can!

Whenever times get tough just remind yourself of this post and think of all the things you could be out doing and should be doing, let that help to motivate you.

All the best!

:) thanks guys.

I've been trying to do the whole big, nutritious meal thing, but it's really hard, as half the time I'm in school from 8-3:30, and bus from there to work, and don't get home till after 9...I'm you're typical broke student, so I have to pack food, but I just don't have room in my backpack for it all, and I find if I leave my eating till night, I generally end up binging, which isn't something I want to get (back) into the habit of.

Anyone else have this problem?  What do you suggest?

what do u mean nutritious meal?  just pack regular foods, sandwiches, chips, granola bars, leftovers.  u need to eat during the day, u need the enrgy, what r u saving it for?

its understandable you are binging you are not eating enough enough during the day and your body is starved , i know its hard but school or not you need to get those calories in . there are plenty of things you can take with you sandwitches milkshakes yogurts etc . im not saying you wont binge as you till might until your body becomes less starved but i think it will make it easier to resist . i know its hard but dont put excuses in the way your main priority is your health and you need to do whatever it takes to get this. do you think youve taken on to much ?

Take a lunch bag that you carry separately from your backpack.  Don't let ED fool you into thinking you can only have as much food as you can fit around your books in your backpack!
