Why do I gain weight within hours??

Hi! Everyday I weigh my self in the morning and evening. When I way in the morning today it was 63 almost. But now my scale says I'm 64.5. Can this happen? Why do my weight fluctuate like this?  I need to lose myweight at least to 58 by april. I'm 5'3", female, 64. I walk alot, do aerobic exercises with weights and do aerobics whenever I can. Please help me. I drink almost 2.5 litres water. I avoid suger and hardly eat salt.

It might just be water weight. Do you have a scale that calculates your body fat and your water weight along with your body mass?

Anything you eat our drink will effect your weight throughout the day. Two bottles of water can easily show a 1-2 pound gain.

In the morning when you weigh, you're empty.

In the evenings when you weigh, you've had food and drink all day.

All of that food and drink weighs something *before* you put it in so it's going to weigh something *after* it's in there.  Doesn't mean you've put on 1.5 kgs of fat throughout the day.

So you have 2 choices:  learn your body's daily fluctuations and roll with the punches (I do this one - my mom explained the fluctuations to me when I was like 8 or so, so anything within like 6 pounds I don't fret over from day to day); or don't weigh yourself more than once per day, in the morning.  Many will tell you not to do it more than once per week in the morning and that may work for you better if you can stick with it.

Personally, I recommend getting to know your body and rolling with the punches ;-)

don't bother weighting yourself twice a day- just do it once a day, recommended in the morning, after using the bathroom, before showering, eating, dressing, etc. the measurement in the evening is meaningless to compare to the morning.
Thank you for your advices! I was really depressed. Coz I know how hard is it to lose a pounda and when I gain that pounds I feel really bad. Then I'm scared whether that weight gain will remain. I hope that would not happen. DO any of you have suggestions for me to lose weight  permanantly and some what quick, like 1 pound per week.

I'd say don't even weigh yourself daily.  Pick one day a week and weigh yourself on the same scales at the same time of that day.  During each day body-weight fluctuates quite naturally and can easily be a kilo either way due to what you've eaten, how efficient your digestion is or how well hydrated you are.  So every day you can be up or down and it means nothing.  But if you check weigh once a week then the fluctuations are ironed out and you see the real trend.

And weight isn't the full story.  Learn to appreciate the other benefits of a healthy diet because they are all signs of 'success'.  Are your clothes fitting better?  Does your skin look clearer?  Are you in a better mood?  Do you have more energy?  Recognise all the improvements and your weight becomes a bonus, not the be all and end all.  Put the scales away until next week and good luck.

But yes, weighing yourself more than once a day can be counter-productive.

Thank you very much! Yeah I know My clothes are fitting better more than I expected. I feel more energetic and feeling healthy. But my tummy(lower abdominals) are bit big. Not very nice. and I have a big butt. Still I think I can be happy about what I've got so far/
