gained 3 pounds since treadmill
I have the same problem. Every time I add light weight training, elliptical machine workouts, etc., I gain weight and it's discouraging. My husband tells me it just water the muscle is holding and that if I continue I will eventually see the results but it's just so discouraging when I see the scale creep up after I did all that extra work.

You will hold some extra fluid in the muscle. Working out is a traumatic experience for your body. It treats it like an injury. It responds the same way as if you hurt yourself, by swelling. The swelling will go away in time. Try not to focus on the weight so much as other things like how you feel, how your clothes fit, and your posture. I know that when I train my posture improves and I look better overall. Don't give up. You're right on track.
