I gained weight? Im confused.....
Hi everyone,
I just started CC a few days ago as well with my diet. I've been working out going to the gym every night burning 600-1.5k calories a day. I weighed myself last night after I ran for 2 1/2 miles. Im confused i weighed 280 when 2 days ago i weighed 278... I'm following my low calories and I'm eating healthy. Does anyone know why I would be gaining weight? (and I know, I just barely started, but I'm still confused
)thx!!!

I'm not an exercise expert- but I've read on here that muscles will retain water if they're used- maybe thats why? But theres loads of other reasons your weight will fluctuate (water/fluid retention, food/liquid in your system etc.)- I'm a classic case of this- I can 'gain' 3-4lbs overnight and be back down the next day.
Weighing yourself at the end of the day is not consistent. You should weigh yourself (as little dressed as possible) in the morning, after you use the bathroom, and before you have any water/food.
This will provide you with a consistent weight, as anything you have eaten, or any water retention will have been 'handled' overnight. You'll still see fluctuations from day to day, but weighing at a consistent time before you eat anything for the day will be the best.
If you're burning up to 1500 calories, you also need to fuel your burn. If you eat too little, and burn too much, your body goes into storage mode, and will slow your metabolism. Obviously, this depends on the number of calories you've taken in vs. burned - everyone is different.
The other posts are right on target as far as an "explanation" is concerned. I know it can be confusing and EXTREMELY disheartening, but don't quit!!!! I remember experiencing the same weight gain when working out. It won't last long and eventually you will see the weight start to come off. Keep it up and it will pay off. To date I have lost almost 50lbs since I started on my journey and have to remind myself that the 'momentary' gain from working out is a good thing!!! Good luck!!
I ALWAYS weigh more immediately after my workout. It goes away within a few hours.
that happens with me too.On a typical day i weigh around 112 lbs in the morning which goes upto 115 lbs by the night.but it eventually comes back to 112 in the morning again. So its nothing to worry about. You are doing gr8.keep it up.
All the above is correct, I can gain anywhere from 2-3 pounds during a day regardless of what I eat. Morning is the best time to weigh yourself!
Hang in there, you are doing great with such consistent workouts. Don't focus so much on the number, but also how you feel (it will take your mind off of the numbers!!). That's my game plan anyway ![]()
I have hypothyroidism, so I can work until I'm blue in the face and may not see change for a while. All you can do is keep going...it DOES work out.
What type of food should not be eaten?
Calorie Count does not prescribe a particular diet or tell people to avoid particular foods. We only ask that you eat a balanced diet... Read more
