Gaining muscle, maintaining weight

Quote  |  Reply

So I recently weighed myself in and found that I had achieved my weight loss target a bit ahead of schedule, but still find myself wanting to lose a few more pounds aesthetically.  However, I think a lot of it is I just need to convert some fat to muscle - would I be able to do this by eating my daily expenditure of calories, or should I undereat in order to burn fat?

Currently I'm running about 70 miles a week, have been doing core exercises, but should really head to the gym to do weights.  How should I proceed?!  Thanks!

You would achieve your objectives by consuming your full energy needs.   An calorie deficit will make it very difficult to create muscle.

eat 6 small meals a day and make sure you have protien/complex carb with each meal, making sure you hit your caloric requirements for the day.  Then hit the gym and start putting some muscle on with weight training.

I make sure I have a 500 to 1000 deficit because I am still trying to lose the last 12 lbs.  I am trying to put muscle on at the same time. I try to lose 1/2% of fat a week.

Good luck!

BTW, running 70 miles per week, you are awesome!
