Ive got the gym thing down. I go almost every day for an hour and I have a buddy and we make each other go, so I haven't missed any days. Now I'm working on my eating and I can get myself to eat anything lower than 2500 calories! I eat lots of veggies and filling foods and drink a lot of water green tea (im always very well hydrated). I eat high fiber, high protein, some fats and I m still hungry until Im at 2500 calories. Either its a self control thing or im missing nutrients. I take a whole foods multivitamin, take a lot of probiotics and make sure to eat a variety of foods. I think it is self control and i need to get used to a new amount of food. Veggies themselves don't fill me up, they make me hungrier, so does breakfast? How did you guys gain self control? I don't know where to even start! its so hard to fight your own body!
edit: Im 5'8, 19yr old 140-145 female.
Im just trying to get back to my old weight of 130 I was before I starting binging on junk food at school. Im not looks for anything drastic but I was trying to get advice on having self control so I dont overeat on stuff like the cookies. My main goal is to tone up with a LITTLE weight loss on the way but Um afraid Im still putting on weight by keeping up a 2500 cal diet. advice is welcome :) Im not an expert and I dont know what Im doing. Ive just been studying this the past few days.
So you're 5'8" and want to lose 10 to 20 lbs. But are you overweight (unhealthy BMI range) now?
You are eating what sounds like a fabulous maintenance diet and exercising regularly.
So before we chat about whether the intake really does need to be restricted, perhaps you could give us your current weight?
And also, are you 21?
It helps us give useful tips if we have more info...
sorry I got confused, I added the info to the edit above. I thought cc wasn't working but it wasn't letting my post because my email wasn't verified. Thanks for the advice!
The truth is that at 140-145lbs you're a perfectly healthy weight (BMI 21.8-ish) for someone your height and an active, healthy 19 year-old needs plenty to eat. You may have been 130lbs as a schoolgirl but women's bodies are not the same as children's bodies.... you're probably better muscled so you've filled out a little. That's normal. You're very slim.
If you enter your age and stats into this site you can see how much 'Daily Energy Requirement' applies to you http://www.bcm.edu/cnrc/bodycomp/bmiz2.html If you're doing exercise for an hour a day and active the rest of the time then you need 2500-3000 cals a day to maintain your weight and be healthy at the same time. So if you're still hungry after 2500 cals then don't be worried about eating more. You need the nourishment.
lol I guess its part of aging, yuk! If I can eat 2500-3000 calories and mantain then Im fine. I wont try to loose any Ill just keep going to the gym and working out! to tell you the truh Im actually kind of happy I dont have to really worry about my weight, loosing weight is so much work! I have so much respect and admiration for people who have done it for any extended amount of time, I cant even IMAGINE dieting for a year of my life! WOW.
Actually not so much about aging as it is about growing. There will be a lot of skeletal changes from now to age 25 and you'll likely find you look mighty fine at 145 lbs when all that bone sculpting is complete!
The freshman 15 happens to college kids who stop being active. You are obviously keeping your body and mind in great shape with daily workouts. You won't put on weight at 2500-3000 staying active.
I am 5'4" (shorter than you) 123 lbs and 34 years old (working out 4-5 days a week 1.5 hours at a time) and I eat 2200-2400 to maintain -- so you can see that even in another 25 years from now, your metabolism should stay about where it is with regular activity.
Enjoy!
