Hi everyone,

I haven't posted here in a while... almost a month now! I slipped back into old bad habits, but I'm trying to fix things again. I'm not going to try to gain weight this time, because it will just make me feel awful about myself, but I'm going to try to be healthier in my eating habits. I booked an appointment with a nutritionist in October and I'm really excited to have a bit of professional help. I just thought I'd come back and say hi because everyone here is fantastic. I am going to get my life back on track, but I'm going to do it slowly.

Hello everyone.  I've gone from trying to maintain to trying to gain overnight. ^^  I am determined.

Height: 5'5"

SW: 107

CW: 110

GW: 113

Goal: 1 lb./week, or ASAP

went to nutritionist today... I am up .9 lbs this week on her scale (weird bc i am up 2 lbs on mine)

question.... the whole theory on eating higher cals (2500+) so that you are able to maintain on lower and not have to maintain on 1200 or something crazy.... it sounds right to me.

But... where did it come from?  A nutritionist?  I asked mine and she said there is no validity to it, though many people, including myself, may need that many in order to gain.  She said there is no telling how many cals a body will need later to maintain.

Is she wrong?  Because it does sound right?!?  I may post this elsewhere as well so ignore me if you have read it.   I am just curious before I up my cals.  Which I am gonna do anyway to gain.

Weighed in today.

New scales so there has to be margin for error, but:

Current weight: 51.8

Lowest weight: 48

Target 1: 65

Height: 182

SERIOUSLY I have been eating 3.000 calories and it DOES NOT WORK jesus H christ (what does the h stand for?) beginning to wonder if it's all worth it...I'm off to buy pizza.

hi everyone---ate 2500 the last 2 weeks, waited 2 weeks to weigh, and am up 4.5lbs, stay at 2500???

this week -101.5

way to go agru!! stick with it, that's a great amount to gain in 2 weeks and keep in mind your weight should always be given a margin so you gained 4.5 give or take a little but you never know what was going on in your body, if it gained faster because it was the first 2 weeks or what. Getting into the 100's was one of the hardest things for me! you should feel proud :)

I've decided to go back to doing Capoeira, brazilian martial arts. I had done it for about 3 years and stopped when I went to study abroad and then never started again since I didn't have money for it. Stopping this may have even contributed to my ed because up until then it was really my only exercise, I would go to class once or twice a week at most. I really just did this for fun, but when I couldn't do it anymore I decided to find other ways to exercise and went a little crazy. So for my birthday this summer I asked if my mom would pay for the classes for the fall, so we decided that was my gift this year. I'm planning on going this morning but am a little worried about losing weight. I still have a few lbs to go but I think I'm at a comfortable enough weight to start exercise again. I'm going to eat more on days I practice and if after a few weeks I notice I start to lose, I guess I'll just eat even more?

theo- keep trying! it will start! I had to push my intake to 4k for a few weeks to jumpstart the gain but it got easier after that. Just take advantage and pig out on all your favorite things!

This is a neat little forum.  I have been jealous of things like the Self magazing challenge and other communities where members join forces and support each other’s weight loss efforts.  There seems so little out there for the weight gainers!

Low weight: 94.5 this summer [my lowest was in the 80’s 2 years ago]

Goal weight: 110-115 range I think?  We’ll see where I’m healthy, strong, and….hot?!

Current weight: 97.5

Up from 96 at the beginning of the week, but I’ve been about 96-98 for weeks now so I think I need to make a change if I’m EVER going to reach my goal.  I’ve been normally eating 30-3300 calories per day. I’d like to have a goal of 4000 and minimum of 3500 if I can.  I figure I at least need to get at the 3500+ level.

The really funny thing is when I made my account here it told me I need 1200 to maintain.  Now that's just a little off!

I almost want to stop counting though.  I feel so stupid measuring and logging everything I eat when I’m trying to eat a lot.  Should I just focus on eating as muh as possible?  But then I wonder if I’d really eat what it takes to gain over 10 pounds.  I don’t know.  What’s worked for you guys?

LW: 100 lb

HW:156 lbs (looooong time ago)

CW: 103 lbs

Height: 5'5''

Activity level: I enjoy Pilates for 30 minutes and a light walk with my dog which takes an hour.

Wow - it just now hit me how unhealthy 103 pounds is...

I'm workin' on it, though.

Weigh in this morning: 96.5

=up 0.5 from last Monday [my official weigh in day], but actually down a pound since I increased to 3500 cals.

oxymoron-
I felt that way going to the Dr. today.  I realized just how "sickly" I really am.  Ew. I hate this.  I want to be a living, thriving, good looking gal not some gross sickly thing.  I am GOING to do this thing--even if I have to fight my "issues" until we come to diagnosis/treatment.  No time to lose, my life is ticking now.

Plus, I've only got ONE body.  How am I going to use it?  What do I want out of it?

SPUNKY-hi hun, hmm, i forget ezactly but i think youre pretty tall, 5'7 maybe?  also, you have some med stuff going on, rt?  id say increasing is a good idea since such a small gain, altho its good and encouraging, may infact just be a simple fluctuation w/ body fkuid and stuff.  id deff let the GI doctors know.

dont lose motivation and keep it up!

Hey agruskin-

No I'm not 5'7,  I didn't post my height actually.

Yeah i'm getting a crapload of fun tests done, ew.  But I hope that it helps me.  I just don't want to wait around with the weight gain part.  It might be a lot harder without treatment, but I'm still going to fight.

My current weight is 80lbs.

My ideal weight is 95lbs.

My height is 4' 11"

Hi! I don't think I've posted in this thread before but I'm not new at all! But I am scared!!!!!!

I had a weigh-in at the doctor yesterday, and I was thinking I might have lost a bit, since I had been on holiday and not counting which resulted in me (I'm pretty sure) undereating. And then I was sick, so I wasn't eating too much then either, although I was getting to or just over 2000 most days. But when she weighed me, from last time I saw her about 6 weeks ago.......

I GAINED 10 pounds! 10!!!!!!!!!! That's A LOT. I'm trying not to freak out. Its weird coz I felt the same weight, just a bit more muscly, before the weigh-in, but now I feel HUGE. I'm tryin to tell myself its all in my head, but at the same time, I have gained 10 pounds... ahh Frown Someone tell me this is good and I'm just being paranoid?...

xx

Cookie: 10lbs in 6 weeks is brilliant! 10/6 = 1.6 recurring, which means on average you gained about 1.5-1.7lbs a week. :] Which is great! And if you feel more muscled it's likely that's in part what you've been putting on, especially if you have been doing weights too. Don't be scared, it's really good news and a good level to be gaining at! I am sorry to hear you've been sick but don't let it throw you. Get your intake back up - 2000 is a maintainance level, not a gain level! ^^ Good luck and good job so far!

hi everyone!

last 3 weeks were at 2500, yestersay got impatient and went to 2700-

i think i stayed about the same and yesterday's increase ofcourse could not affect it, so obviously ill need to have more?  i suppose 2700?

HT-5'3.75

last week-101.5

this week-hovered btwn 101-101.5

Agru,
Yikes, I think you should try increasing a lot more than 200 calories per day—that’s really nothing, more like an “intake fluctuation.”  If you want to keep up with your body as it burns more AND keep gaining I’d go for a 5-700 cal increase.

Sticking where you've adjusted to and gotten semi-comfortable is a great way to get stuck.  Welcome to my summer.  I have been in "weight gain mode" for months now, but after an initial fight to increase and gain, I got used to that and didn't keep pushing when my weight settled to.  It was more manageable diet at 3000 vs. the 4000 I maybe needed, but had I just sucked it up and done it who knows where I could be now.  Hot, energetic, better thinking, less health going down the drain and damage being done.  It takes real pushes, a real change, much more than 200 per day, to finish the job.

About the fast, Is there any way you can get out of the fast for medical concerns?  Not because you’re doing it to lose weight, but because now that you’ve been at an unhealthy weight even longer, your health is even more at risk to fast for any reason.

hi SPUNKY-probably my last post till tomm nite but i voiced my concerns to my mother who saod im making it out to be worse than it will be, i really dont even believe religious-wise but like, i dont know.

i was at 2500 for 3 weeks, weighed after 2 weeks and had gained 5lbs.

i deffinately want thins all to be done with already, yesterday was 2700 so i suppose fri-my 1st real day back i guess, ill aim for 3000 and if i can do more, im thinking switching to full fat, im sure thatll make it easier to increase?  thatd be 500

500 is usually minimm daily to gain, plus you're trying to keep up with your body burning more as you gain.

Remember all changes feel weird at first, so maybe go with "I'm making a change" rather than "see if I can" or you'll just stick to old patterns.
