Gaining weigh-ins!!
Let's all post with putting our gaining weigh ins and stats!
What are you doing to gain?? How much have you gained?? And what is your goal??
I am 5'7 and currently 118-122. My lowest was 94 so you do the math!!!
My nutritionist says that 130ish is where I should be..anyone else?
Reason: Unstickied after being stickied for over a year 8/15/09
Well, I'm still at 52 kg as of this afternoon. Should I try another week at 3500 or up to 4000? I'm getting kind of worried here. Is it normal to need this many cals to gain?
I'm thinking about ordering pizza and garlic bread right now, but working up the courage, and also wondering whether I want to fork out the money for delivery. The joys of being a public transporter!
Keep up the great work, all!
Mel. xox
5''4.
Last weight - 49KG, 107lbs. BMI 19 according to my psycologist, 18.4 according to CC?
Goal - DONT HAVE ONE! Any ideas where I should aim guys? :)
Mel: Applies as before! If you're not gaining on what you're eating add another 500 calories.

I know, I know; methinks I just like someone else to give me that kick in the pants. I'm just wondering if it's normal, because I don't have hollow legs, and last time I checked I wasn't a bottomless pit!
A week and a half to gain 3 kg/6 lbs. Should be interesting.

Hey Mel! I think we're in a really similar boat, and don't worry—I've been packing in the calories as well. Yesterday I didn't count (a huge accomplishment for me), and I'm reasonably guessing that I ate over 3500 calories! And I think I'm going to do that again today! :) If it helps, just keep remembering that your body is going to throw you a party after all this. More energy, more life, more everything! Yesterday I laughed like I haven't before in a long time. ^^ Good luck, and stay strong!

GW- AT LEAST a bmi of 22, wt AT LEAST 127, then ill see where my body takes me so that I can live the FULLEST+HEALTHIEST life i can!!! AND I AM!!
Mel: Why is your target that soon, again? D: 2lbs a week is the highest healthy gain rate, really (any more than that is usually excess in water) as much more can begin stressing your body out. Don't damage yourself! <3
But whatever it is a target for, whether a holiday, for your family, for your doctor, to avoid inpatient, whatever - take pride in how far you have come, how hard you are trying, and even if you don't manage the full gain in that time but put on something you should be happy for even the smallest jumps. And not saying you do, but never ever ever beat yourself up for not seeing a gain! It's as bad as when you may have kicked yourself for not seeing a loss.

Hey guys, I'm new here. I have never had an ED or anything, but I have always been extremely skinny. I'm glad I found this site. I just got back from a vacation and was horrified at how disgusting I looked in my swimsuit in the pictures. My doc says that nothing is medically wrong, however I do have blood sugar issues naming me as pre-diabetic. I asked for some help to gain weight without all of the carbs from sugar and sugar itself. I am doing a protein plan...currently trying for 2400 calories a day to start. I sit at work all day and the only exercise I get is from light housework and walking the dog. According to this site, my calories burned are around 1600. I am 5'8" and currently weigh 105.5 pounds(yuck). I would like to be around 130-135 minimum. I am drinking a crap ton of Carnation Instant Breakfast (sugar free) and eating meat and nuts and drinking lots of milk. I wish I could increase my calories more, but my blood sugar gets too high and I feel really sick. I am wanting to be healthy and nobody around me can relate to how I feel. Good luck to you all and I hope we can reach our goals together.

Thanks for the pep talk, Okie! I'm the same as you in that I feel like I have to know how many cals I've had, and the calorie content of everything, but I've been challening myself. I've been making 3500 cals, and then eating more if I feel like it without counting cals.
Keep up your great work. I'm going to celebrate when I see that new kg/lb appear! At the very least, it'll deserve a slice of cake!

Thanks heaps for all your support, Ellie! You help so many people, and I bet there's many recovered people who have you on their thank-you list. I'm going to be one of them.
It's not a goal set in concrete; I was just hoping to impress my folks when they come to visit at the end of next week. I think they'll be awed enough though when they see what I eat now.
All the best,
Mel.
Hi have just joined the group since I need to gain weight. I do not have an ED but looking at me you would assume I do or did. After journaling my food intake for a couple weeks my average intake of calories is 2000. I eat and eat and never gain!
Here are my stats:
Height: 5'5
Current weight: 102lbs
Goal weight by my doctor: approximately 125lbs
The only time I have weighed more was when I was pregnant with my son I went from 100lbs to 150lbs. Would have been happy to stay the 130lbs I was afterwards but after 6 months I was back down to what I am now.
My Plan: Try and eat as much healthy high calories foods as possible.
Anyone have any ideas on what I could eat other then the noticable nuts and breads (can't eat much of either developing a sensitivity to them)??
Ndrown: You need to be eating at least 2500 calories to gain, but you might need even more than that. For high calorie food ideas check out the stickies at the top of the forum. Are you saying you have sensitivities diagnosed, or just think you do? Never cut anything out unless your doctor tells you to.
Time for an update-
Starting weight- 115lbs
Current weight- 121.8lbs
Goal weight- 125-127lbs
This last week has been really slow. Painfully slow in fact. I think it's because I shot up 6 lbs in just a few weeks, and it's taking a while for my body to adjust to the new weight. Already, I feel so much better. I'm still getting used to my changing body. I still, at times feel like I'm 113-115 lbs and then I look down and see all of the nice substance that has been added to me. It almost feels like a second puberty or something.
I'm really going to try to kick it up a notch and just finish this thing off. I want to be finished my the end of the year. I also have a nice reward for myself. Once I reach my goal weight I get to go shopping for new clothes. I haven't bought anything since I started, and I've gotten rid of a few tops that don't fit anymore. It will be nice to refill the closet with things that fit.
TANGERINE-lol, same thing, i mean, i still think im 100 lbs when im really 110 and i look down and its like, phew. i had to recently go shopping for clothing, well 2 weeks ago, and theyre already not fitting but it was relatively cheap stuff on purpose but yes, NICE clothes for my new job and yes, by the end of the yr or so i hope to be relatively done w/ this as well!
congrats on the gain!
lalabanana: Thank you for the information, it will be very helpful. I didn't realize my calorie intake should be 2500 or more. As for the food, I have been told the I have the nut sensitivity which is slowly turning into an allergy, I can only eat maybe 5 nuts at a time then my throat will start to close. As for the bread/grain products I have to watch how much I eat since it makes me sick if I eat more then 1 slice of bread. I am in the process of being tested for Celiac and Chrones as potential causes. So it does make it difficult for me to gain weight, so that is why I joined this group. It's helpful to know that others are trying to do the same as I am.
Weekly weigh-in, exactly what I expected. I'm neither happy nor upset, just ambivalent. I guess I am kind of happy because I know that I'm making progress, and that my body functions predictably.
Start weight: 101
Last weigh-in: 104
Today's weigh-in: 105
Goal weight: 108
Ndrown: ^__^ Okay, I like to make sure. And don't worry, by the way, there are others here that're gaining without an ED to tackle but even then, we're all here to gain, right? :D
That's an awful shame about the nuts, as nuts are so very nutritious, but you've still got lots of options. Olive oil and other oils, avocados, gluten-free grains like buckwheat, millet, corn, soy products, cocoa powder (the powder itself, untampered with). Can you eat dairy? Whole fat dairy would be good, too, though with Coeliac's as a possibility I know that may be an issue. Still, you can still make higher calorie food lactose and gluten free!
