Unfortunately I have not had an opportunity to meet with a nutritionist; however, I am following several meal plans in which I have obtained from this forum.
(Generally taking in 2500-3500 calories per day)
I have lost my period for the last year or so-does anyone know if this weight seems realistic enough to gain it back?
Well, everyone's bodies are different. You will know you have hit the right weight when you get yours back. However, 110 is too low a weight for your height (BMI 18.3). Mostly it is recommended that anorexia sufferers try to attain a BMI of at least 20. This provides your body with a small buffer of weight to lose during a relapse before you become dangerously underweight again. Even once you have weight-restored, your body still has a lot of recovering to do. It makes sense that this is much more easily facilitated at a comfortable BMI than one that is hanging on to the very edge of the healthy BMI scale.
I got my period back after four years when my BMI hit 20.9.
Hi everyone I am desperate with my weight gain, I went from 800 to 1700 cals per day in 15 weeks and I didn't gain but since I reached the 1700 ( 10 weeks ago or so) I am gaining like crazy, I guess its water weight but why I did't started gaining when I was eating 1500 or so? anyway I was wondering how long it takes! I already reached a bmi of 19 but it keeps going higher and higher
LW: 97 pounds
CW: 111 pounds
GW: 110 pounds
pleas I want to stay at 110 but it seems to be that my body will keep storing...
I have some questions, I have been eating 1700 for almost 12 weeks so I should't be retaining water anymore, and based on what you have said I should be mantaining or losing and that would be my sing to get a higher intake but I don't stop gainig :( I need hepl whats wrong with me?
I dont want to reach over 2000 cals because I already got the weigh I am sure is not water because I can see it in thights, arms, and belly..... any suggestion? is this normal?
A BMI of 19 is a healthy weight. You must be about 5 ‘ 4 to have that BMI of 10 at about 110 lbs.
People have an optimal weight range, not a single number, and it depends on your body frame/bone size.
Large/some medium framed women need BMI’S over 20 and higher before their reach their optimal weight range.
Small frames/some medium framed women are healthy and have optimal BMI”S at 18.5 - 20.
The only way each individual can find THEIR optimal weight, is by eating enough calories for their age/height/activity level until their weight stabilizes.
Use this website, go to the “ tools” section and it will tell you roughly how many calories you will need based on your stats. You may need more too, so if you are still hungry then eat more.
You may want to maintain your weight, however, your bone/frame size may be too large to maintain this weight. This is fine - you can tone up and achieve a slim looking body through increasing muscle. You do not have to weigh less to look thin and toned.
don’t be scared - simply eat the right amount of calories for your stats, more if you are hungry, and elt your body dictate the weigh it stabilizes at. You may not like it, but that is also part of recovery - you need to recover physically AND mentally - by reaching a healthy weight, and learning to accept that weight. Hard work, but well worth the effort!
Good luck!
2 weeks ago - 111lbs
Today - 113lbs
Good..was expecting more though but I guess it's better going slowly =)

I know but I am Small frame! and yes Im 5'4 , so I think 2000 its a lot to me since CC says that I spend average 1700 cals a day. so what else could I do? increase to 2000 for a week or two to see if it takes me outta starvation mode and then going back to 1700 and see if I mantain and then do the fixes if I need it?
I know you do not have any intention of hindering other people’s goals, which is why I am going to point this out to you:
Many people on here are not a small frame, therefore they cannot maintain a BMI as low as yours; this means it may be triggering for them to read about your goals, because your goals are unrealistic for a lot of people who post on here
A lot of people have larger frames, therefore will need to gain to a higher BMI than you do, so can you understand why a person recovering from an eating disorder may become upset if they here about other people who are naturally smaller then them?
Please PM me if you want advice about maintaining - I have restored my weight after an ED and I am about your height and weight too, so feel free to PM me any questions you have!
It is a good idea if you do not make further post on this matter on this section, because it could hinder others.
Danal I am gaining on the calorie plan I am on and consistent but am trying to increase too and push through the fears though so hard. I have been told it is key to get metabolism going and overall for when you maintain. Personaltrainer may I ask or others who have reached their healthy weight how they feel about their body and eating etc now? Also how you deal with comments which are meant to be nice but are hard? Danal also I am not taking away from your progress but 97 to 111 is 14 pounds in 15 weeks is around 1 pound a week which is not fast. This is not just about weight gain I try to tell myself but about repair. Do you get your period etc and what about how you feel?
Well I must adimit I have felt way better by eating more and I have healed my relationship with food, I eat things I would never even tasted a year ago, and there where a time when I got so hot and sweety at night and had no more chills and there I thougth I were outta starvation mode, I have gainied average a pound per week I know, but gaining with the amount of cals supposed to be for MANTAINANCE so that is not a good sing and I am afraid my body is not used yet to the cals I have been given it, even if I have eaten them for 3 moths or so, I am not trying to make feel bad someone, I was just looking for help and to get better how this were going to be, I needed to make myself sure this is not abnormal and wash away that feeling that gaining will never stop, anyway my apologies for everyone in the forum if I said something unaopropiate

Hello, new here and feeling very motivated and positive about weight gain!
Height 5 ft 6.5

GW: 120
Been suffering from anorexia (although only recently acknowledged this) and disordered eating patterns for about three years. Recently came back from holiday and felt like the fog had lifted- I just don't want to live like this anymore! It's my 24th birthday next month and I want to start enjoying my life, not wasting it worrying about what the scales say.
I've been reading this forum for a few months and think it has such a positive vibe, I'm so glad I found it because I think it's given me the final push that I need to realise you don't always have to be aiming for the scales to go down! :)

Had a bit of a slip-up recently and now the nutritionist has MEGA upped my plan. Constantly feel full and uncomfortable but I have to keep faith that it'll be worth it in the end!
hey coco,
I'm new on here, just seen we are the same height with the same goal weight! Seeing someone else on the same path to you is really motivating and you're right, all this effort really will be worth it in the end!

Can I lose weight by walking on the treadmill for 20 minutes twice a day?
You will lose weight if your calorie intake is less than your calorie output. By walking on the treadmill for 40 minutes, you (personally... Read more
