Fighttotc - I agree with Tessa1223, that upping your calories is a good idea. Not only beause it would help you not to binge, but also, as you refeed and increase your calories, your metabolism actually speeds up. You can find lots of good literature about it on the internet by searching hypermetabolism.
So there is a good chance that your metabolism has sped up so much, that you now need more calories to gain weight.
With me for example, I started out gaining on 2400 calories a day, but as the months have gone on, I am now up to 3650 calories a day with a gain of about 1-2 lbs a week!
So I would suggest first trying to up your calories by 300 cal or so, and see what the results are like at the end of the week.
Also however, I would reccomend getting help from a professional nutritionist or a doctor or something. I dont think this is something that should be done without supervision. Im not sure if maybe you are already seeing one, but if not, its a good idea, and a great source of support for weight gain.
Good luck :)

Great to hear from you Emma! Congrats on the gain! I can already tell that the gaining has slowed a bit, as no doubt your metabolism is beginning to catch up. Definitely a good sign!! You should find now that the gains will continue to get smaller, unless you up your cals. Hang in there!! You've really made some tremendous progress this week! :)

Yeah, I'm kind of doing this all on my own, so maybe I'll seek the help of my doctor, although I doubt she'll do much, since last time I saw her, she weighed me and discussed how I haven't gotten my period for the past few month and didn't think the two were related![]()
Anyways, starting today, I'll try for 2800, and will hopefully be up to 3000 by halloween...thanks for the advice, guys!

I MET MY FIRST WEIGHT GOAL!!!!!!!!!
After all this time and effort!! WOW!! scary, yes! More like terrifying and itimidating, but still!!!! FINALLY!!!!

Wow, mvalentine:
I've got to tell you...your past posts have reminded me SO MUCH of myself as I was caught for years in the cycle of "weight gain mode" but something [the ED demon!] keeping me subconsciously from actually doing it, even if my intentions were genuinely there. I was always convinced I was gaining but not really getting anywhere--deceived to note the "up" ends of my safe/ED range, and discount the drops...
But you DID press on to your first goal!!! *gasp*
Now ED is really gonna fight! Whatever you do, don't give YOUR victory back...or any more of your life to him! Time to rawr and make sure you take your victory and rock with it!
I am not yet at a BMI of 20 which I know is what's recommended here but my treatment am have agreed I can start to experiment with my calories to see what maintains my weight now to avoid relapse.
I've always been naturally underweight and my mental state is the best it#s ever been which is amazing :)
So I cut down by 300 calories this week and I lost a kg!
Last week: 43.3kg
This week: 42.3kg
Didn't expect that at all. It was on different scales though, so I'm going to eat the same this week and increase next week if I lose again.

Your BMI is currently around 17. You need to increase; if you lose weight again this week you will not be in a good position.
By the way, the best way of preventing relapse is not switching to maintainence before even over a BMI of 17.5, it's reaching a healthy weight. Furthermore, you will maintain on a different amount at a higher weight, so experimenting now is only dragging out the process and allowing ED to win.
lw 34kg
last week 43.6kg
this week 54.2kg

im not knocking your progress because i think you are doing fantastic, but i really think you should increase now youve lost weight you havnt even maintained . i know you say youve are the best youve ever been mentally but you can be better hun. you also have to think what is you fear of reaching a bmi of 20 ? is it valid . im notting getting at you im just concerned h x
I completely understand where you are coming from Helen and girlplurality.
It's not really that I fear a BMI of 20 it's just that it does seem sort of unnatural for me, I am a seriously small framed girl, always have been, my BMI has never been over 19 when I was healthy.
Last time I continued to gain weight and I couldn't cope with it and relapsed, I guess I just don't want to push it when things are going so well.
I probably will gain more weight as I experiment with calories and especially when I switch to normal eating.
I don't know, I just feel really happy with this weight and with these calories.
Emma, I've noticed you do a lot of being nice to ED thinking you are being tender to your recovery... things like allowing ED to tell you that as a recovering anorexic the "nice thing" is to not have to have party food or weigh X or continue to eat X.
Just keep in mind that who you're really being nice to, who's really "comfortable" is ED.
Of course you feel better at that level intake--it's a weight loss intake! Exactly what ED is all about--and why it hooks you.
Anorexia is addictive and that sort of safety sucks you right in.
It's the easy way out.
The killing ED is the hard, uncomfortable thing--but ultimately, it's the nicest thing you could ever do to yourself.
Height: 5'2.5 (I think, might be just 5'2)
LW: 38kg
Last week: 42.7kg
This week: 42.2kg
GW: 48kg
I am amazed by my metabolism. I was weighed in at 9.30am instead of 2pm, but I expected at least to maintain so... up go the calories!
hey tessa - i think you may have meant to say you weight last week was 53.6kg and you are now up to 54.2kg? :) You are doing so well girl!!! Keep it up!!!
Emma: First of all, I think Lilmissgutz gave you some really good, heartfelt advice! I understand what you're going through because I used to have the same mentality, and I let my fears win for waaay too long! But I can honestly say that even though my weight has gone higher than I thought it "should" (or than Ed thought it should), I don't really even look any bigger than I would at a few pounds less! Actually, I think the last bit has been building extra muscle. So even though its super hard, give your body a chance! Let it show you where it wants to be, and you may be surprised to find out that it won't look as "bad" as Ed wants you to believe! You can do it girl!
My weight update!
Several weeks ago: 107
Yesterday: 108.5
It's definitely maintaining most of the time, but as I've incorporated some weight-training, it has creeped up a bit. But I'm trying not to let it bother me, and I'm focusing on how GREAT I feel! I want to be FREE, completely and utterly, of Ed! Bring on the real life!
in regards to getting to a bmi of 17 (NOT healthy by far), let alone 18.5-19, from experience, it is NOT enough, not enough to get back to life, health, flexability, really, its BORDERLINE healthy, as ive said, why would you want to be only BORDERLINE HEALTHY???

This is why I have been avoiding posting on here...I am only experimenting with calories at the moment. I might decide to gain more weight yet.
My doctors say I am healthy, everything is fine at this weight, my life is not at all limited...
Hope I can still get support here
