Ok, I started running/walking an hour a day about three weeks ago. I didn't weigh myself till today...I am up 3/4 pounds! Why? Is it muscle or is that just an excuse? Am I doing something wrong?
I could use any thoughts on this. Thanks!

Thanks, that was helpful. But here is the other thing. My tummy is getting bigger. I swear it is. I can feel my clothes a bit tighter and I just feel like if I were gaining muscle, I wouldn't have gained tummy too. I work out an hour to two a day. I eat between 1,600 and 1,800 or so cals. I work off about 300-600 cals depending on the day. I could understand not loosing, but gaining? And in my tummy, is just so anoying.
This is the same thing that happened to me and I quit doing it because i looked bigger and bigger...
....god that is depressing....to think exercise can make you look bigger around the middle!...cr*p
Nonsense! exercise tones your body and makes it stronger. Muscle is a good thing because muscle burns calories. Your scale will show higher numbers, but remember, a cubic inch of muscle weighs 3 times as much as a cubic inch of fat.
I am trying to remind myself of this. I am going to keep going. Cause I know of the health helps. But I hope that I can actually start loosing around the middle. :)
To make sure that you're loosing around the waist, measure yourself. That way, you will be able to see progress.
Good luck!

I'd second the measurement recommendation. Because, are you actually bigger, or do you just *think* you are? Goodness knows I'm a champ when it comes to distorted body image, and I know you can't always trust your eyes.
I grew a little around the middle at first and then eventually is started dropping. I am assuming initially it was muscle mass. Give yourself a few more weeks. You may need to drop you calories a litte, did you use the tool to estimate your calorie level needed to lose?

Working out doing what for 2 hrs a day? Is it weights and cardio? And are you measuring your waistline after cardio? Your waistline swells up after any activity.
Usually just an hour. About once, sometimes twice a week I do 2 hours. I have been doing a bit of weights. Not a ton. But I mostly run/walk the tred mil. I am going to start measuring! Thanks for the tip!
