Hey all,
I'm currently living in Italy for the next three months and i am trying desperately to maintain the weight i was before I left home (123lbs). I was doing good until this past sunday when my weight went up to 125.6lbs (57kg). I run 5-6days a week for 30-35minutes. I do core exercises and stretches each day to. I'm nannying here so I am also running after kids in the afternoon (counts as being active, right?). I know I haven't been overeating but I'm eating more carbs than I eat at home. I do have my period right now but I'm not sure if I should gain that much water weight because i normally don't gain much weight if any during my period. If anyone could help me explain my weight gain pleaseee do! Tips and advice are welcome as well!
Hugs from italy!

This forum is generally for people who are trying to gain weight deliberately. Your post might be better situated in the 'Weight Loss' forum.
More than likely the reason for your weight gain is due to water retention from having your period - I wouldn't worry too much if I were you... just as long as when your period is over, your weight doesn't still climb.
If you are still very active (which it seems like you are) then once again, don't fret too much - stress is a contributor to weight gain too so if you try and focus on other things in life (enjoying Italy) then weight gain probably won't result...
As for the food over in Italy - I am well aware it's pretty high in carbs but there is also a lot of healthy fish & tons of yummy veggies - so try your hardest to stock up on those and try to keep starches/carbs to the morning and mid-day meal!
You will be just fine, you're in Italy - try to focus on the sights you want to see and the kids you are nannying! Is that why you're over there, just to nanny or are you taking classes, etc?
My family and I have been planning a trip to go over there but now instead of Italy we are going to Turkey - ha ha... we moved over a couple of countries (we were also planning a Greece trip too..).
Have fun out there - and don't get too caught up in the Italian boys - I hear they're bad news! lol.
Thanks for the lovely comment! Well my period should be over within the next few days so we'll see how the weight goes. I'm going to go to the supermarket soon and just stock up. I am nannying here for three months and the family buys my food and they don't eat many veggies so i feel bad making them buy me all the veggies but I guess i shouldn't.
Turkey how random! I hear greece is beautiful and trust me I have been warned about the italian boys =)
What you said about stress is totally true! When i'm happy my weight stays the same or I lose some weight but when i am unhappy i gain weight!
