1300 Gang

Quote  |  Reply

Halloo there. I kind of just want some place to report back to, on my good days and bad, and I figured some other people would too. =) Plus, a gang is a lot cooler than a club.

This thread is for anyone on any part of their weight loss journey that has a calorie target of 1200 to 1400 calories. I do hope to get some of the same people coming back to chat though!

About me:

I'm 19, a freshman in college, and very athletic. I love horseback riding and softball and fencing, but I hate treadmills. =P My highest weight was 180 and my target is 130. My favorite food is TUNA! And cinnabons. =3 One odd thing about me is that I love numbers and LISTS.

Good things to post in this thread:

-INTRODUCTIONS!

-What you ate today

-Recipes

-Tips&Tricks

-Weight Loss Goals

ETC!

Hey Feanor! Thanks for posting this board again.

I will join in the gang!

I am 21 years old, I am 5'6 and weigh 159. I am a married house wife. Last November 06 I got married and gained over 30 pounds! I weighed 135 at my wedding. I started calorie counting aprox 2 months ago and started at the weight of 170. I know I need to do somthing very badly! I have cellulite now and stretch marks on my legs and sides. I hope joining here will help with more tips and ideas. I need to eat 1200-1300 cals per day. My goal is to weigh 130 again.

My tips are drink tons of water! This helps to loose weight and to stop you from getting hungry. It is also very very good for you. Also chew gum if you are having cravings or brush your teeth. Another way is to take a hot shower. I find this helps me stop craving food.

Today I did pretty poorly. I ended up eating at a friends house and she had pizza rolls and ceasor salad along with cheese cake for desert. So my diet was blown today. I did manage to do one mile of walking today though. I also drank lots of water. Tomorrow I am eating at home so it will be easier. I always find it hard to eat right at someones house. I don't want to insult them and only eat salad. ha ha.

Well thats it for now. Signing out for now.
Joelle, you are 6 feet 5 inches?! Surely not... If you actually were, I would think 135 lb would be a bit light...

A 19 year old who is athletic probably needs more than 1,300 calories a day.
feanor holy we have a lot in common!

I am 16, 17 in may. I am 5'3'' and 138 pounds. My highest weight is 180, lowest was 122. My long term goal is to get off what I gained and stay between 120-125. I have tried sooo many sports throughout my childhood: curling, soccer, field hockey, karate, ballet, jazz dance, swimming, gymnastics but the one thing I seemed to stay with the longest is horse back riding I have ridden for 6 years and still at it.

I love all food, but a few of my faves are toast with almond butter, sushi, cheesecake and ice cream.

today I had

a smoothie with protein powder
2 boiled eggs
steamed broccoli and beans
baked potato with a tso of olive oil instead of butter
lean steak
1 cup of frozen yogurt
1/2 a pria bar

I'm an athletic person but not currently very active! That's why I'm here. I burn 1800 calories per day.

Hey joellerousseau, great to see you here. ;)

Wow karliann! We do have a lot in common. I tried soccer also but I was sooo bad at it because I can't run fast. I tried gymnastics when I was littler but never stuck with it; karate was super fun and I got a few belts but I believe my parents took me out of it because the teacher was creepy. Do you ride english or western? I enjoy both. I'm currently showing walk trot canter on my college's equestrian team. ^^

Mmm cheesecake.

I'm 19, 5' 1", 119lbs and apparently my goal for the day is 1400. I'm a bit suspicious of that because I apparently burn 2000 a day. And after the week off I'm having, I'll be back at college dancing/singing full time and it's way more than 2000 then. But for now, since I'm not doing much, I'm sticking to the 1400.

I had a very bizarre idea of how much I could eat, started this healthy eating thing and was so hungry by about 7pm, so I came on here and entered my calories into the log and found out why - I'd only had 700 calories so far! So, with 700 hundred to spare, I had crisps and some chocolate ice cream in a cone with a flake. It was only after drinking some orange squash (surprisingly high in calories) that I made my daily minimum. So today I've been eating more, but more healthily.

And before anyone mentions that I'll be very light if I lose weight - it's mainly muscle so I can't get lower that about 110lbs any more. I just want rid of the wobbly fat bits to be able to show off the muscle. :D

yay this is awesome! we should post everyday what we had so we can get ideas from each other on what to eat.

Im 24. I started last year january at 156 and stopped in may or so and then gained 10 pounds back and then lost some...hahaha... up and down! Right now I'm at 133. Trying to reach 125. oh and im 5'6

It's only 9:30 AM so I will list what I are yesterday.

Breakfast: Granola cereal and tea

Lunch: whole wheat pasta with broccoli/carrots and grilled chicken

Dinner: 2 slices of whole wheat bread with boca burgers

2 cups of fresh orange juice

So thats right between 1200-1400 cals

umm tips? i dont have any!!! you guys give me some!

My target is allegedly 1300.  I am 18, 5'6", 139lbs.  I am aiming for 110.  I jog/walk briskly for about 30 minutes a day, do strength training on my hips, thighs, and arms several times a week and try to urg (row) a few times a week as well. I'm in college and walk pretty much everywhere I go (except for when it's 5 bloody degrees outside like today!).  I do have a problem though.

I find it nearly impossible to force myself to consume more than 800 calories a day.  If I eat more, I usually cry myself to sleep that night, convinced I'll be a balloon in the morning.  I know I need to, but I don't get fatigued.  I take vitamin supplements and drink a crapload of water.  I'm still only losing 1-2 lbs per week. I know this is unhealthy, but I think I will need serious counseling (online forums are the selfhelp groups of today) to force myself to eat more.

I am so glad that this thread is running since I need a TON of help counting.  I am 26, 6'1'' and 172lbs with the goal of 150 lbs that I want to hit by June therefore my recommended caloric intake is between 1300-1400.  That is going to be low for me but if I have a plan I do well with following-through.  Keyword:  having a plan.

I am sitting down writing my list for the grocery store and am attempting for the first time to plan out my meals for the week.  I have been a vegetarian for over 16 years and have been eating vegan the past month so with that being said...

I am all ears for 1300 calorie menus that folks have out there and will def share mine as I figure this planning stuff out!!!

THANKS!!!!

Awesome! Welcome girls! I didn't really think about it at the time, but I now realize that no guy is going to be eating 1400 calories. And if he did try, we'd have to kick him out, haha. Didn't mean to be sexist! -d'oh-

Buut anyway, I had a pretty good day today despite the fact that I woke up late again. And then was busy. Hence the small/lame breakfast and ridiculous lunch. Tomorrow is Monday and so I'll be back onto a regular schedule, along with regular eating times. But here is what I had:

12PM Breakfast:
1/2 a South Beach Cinnamon Raisin Bar - 70
2PM Lunch:
2 Tbs Skippy Super Chunk Peanutbutter - 190
5:30PM Dinner:
2 Cups Progresso Vegetable and Rice Soup - 120
8PM Snack:
1 South Beach Cinnamon Raisin Bar - 140
9:30PM Snack:
1 plastic cup diced peaches - 25

And still planned is 1/2 cup of White Beans (140) and 1/3 cup Texmati Rice Blend (140). Might add some salsa or something to that. And then I also have logged 1 cup raisin bran cereal for 188 (I'm out of milk). And 30 cals worth of broccoli that I need to get rid of soonish. But then I still have to eat 200 cals or so. @_@ I'll probably end up with more peanut butter or popcorn, haha, since those are the only things I have left besides carrots. 200 cals of carrots would be horrible. GROCERY SHOPPING TOMORROW IT IS!

EDIT; And onyouthfulcynicism, I really hope we can help you but if you don't improve soon, please try to get some help that is also offline! I've never had an ED, more like anxiety/depression, and I was miserable with it for years because I thought I had to deal with it all by myself. Not saying that you're in the same situation though. Also peanut butter and/or granola is seriously one of the best ways to up your calories for the day! Or any other sort of nut is good too. And if you're still under, treat yourself to a square of extra extra dark chocolate. ^^ Anti-oxidants yay!

I'd love to join the gang!  I'm 19, married, working and going to school.  Today is my day 1, My goal is 1400 cal a day.  I'm 5'6 and weigh 167, goal weight is 130-135.  I'll keep you updated on my food intake.  What type of workouts are ya'll doing?
Oh my gosh----by the time I have my lunch and afternoon apple I am only going to have 300 calories left for my dinner tonight....EKKKK!!!  What do you all suggest keeping in mind I eat vegan?

Food so far for today that totals 998 cals:

strawberries w/ soy protein

whole grapefruit

small banana with peanut butter

salad with kidney beans and light asian dressing

apple (to have this afternoon)

I really don't want to go over 1300 cals today so I am open to all suggestions!!!  This counting stuff is hard!

If you do go over today don't worry too much about it! I would suggest letting yourself go over a bit rather than be starving late tonight...because this IS a learning process. It takes a while to figure out how much you can eat, and of what. How much peanut butter did you have? That seems to be your main downfall. banana at about 100 calories plus a serving of PB is 190.. or even if you had only 1 Tbs it's 95. On a 1300 cal diet, a 200-300 cal snack can throw off the whole rest of your day.

Do you know the calorie values of the other stuff you had? The asian dressing for example.. I have no idea how much that would be but if it's adding a substantial amount of calories you probably want to consider switching to some sort of substitute.

And as of now, skinnybyapril, I have no work out really. Besides walking around to classes all day. And horseback riding 2 or 3 times a week (pretty intense training). So maybe someone else has some suggestions for you.

This is a great idea!  I am 25, 5'3" and 155lbs with a goal of 125.  So I'm suppose to have a caloric intake of 1200.  Just was married in June 2007 and as with a lot of others here, gained a bit of weight after getting married.

Lately I've been really loving the special k for breakfast.

Today so far:

Breakfast - special k waffles
Lunch - was in a hurry this morning so took a lean cuisine pizza with yogurt
Planning on making a quick stir fry for dinner.

I'm pretty much just getting started so it will be great to see tips people post in here!

hey great idea!  i seem to fit in this boat as i'm about 135 and looking to lose about 10 pounds, apparently i maintain around 1700 calories, so i'm looking to consume 13-1400 calories.... some days this goes okay and some days it's hard, if i'm hungry i'm eating!  i have made a lot of switches to at least eat better foods though, unfortunately i usually blow it on the weekends.  i'm not active in the slightest but i'm really really trying to get motivated to start exercising!  (if only it weren't so cold :(  )

as for today's diet.... i should probably wait til tommorrow to post haha i had oatmeal and chocholate chocolate chip cake so far :P  and i'm seeing the spice girls later (yup i'm a big dork) so i'll probably grab something quick and hopefully healthy on my way.  i'm not hungry today, once a month i actually eat less so i'm not fighting it.  i'll post my normal eating tommorrow :P

Hi feanor---

Thanks for the helpful feedback...I am trying to figure out how to cut and paste my intake for today from my food log.....I hear your point on the PB....that was 95 cals and the dressing was at least 120(yikes!) I need to find other alternatives....
Hello everyone! My name is Jenalee and I am 20 years old and engaged. I work a 9-5 office job and go to college at night. I'm 5'5 and last year when I started CC I was 150 pounds, after a few months I lost about 25 pounds and made it down to 125. After the holidays and just being lazy I am now back up to about 132 and I would like to get to atleast 128 because that's where I was most comfortable. So 1300 calories a day for me and more exercise.

What I Ate Today:

Breakfast: Oatmeal with a banada mashed in and Vanilla Soy Milk

Lunch: Salad with lettuce, tuna, cucumber, blackbeans, light mayo, mustard. And 1/2 cup of grapes and a diet pepsi

Dinner: Cheerios with Soymilk. 2 boiled egg whites. and a "baked" apple (chopped apple and cinnamon microwaved for 1 minute)

Snacks: Apple and packet of regular oatmeal

Tips/tricks: Even if you dont feel like going to the gym or going running outside, just put on your tennis shoes and make yourself go, you'll feel better afterwards. - Chew sugar-free gum to avoid cravings. - Give yourself encouragement for daily diet/fitness accomplishments

Hey there, I'm 18 and a freshman in college.  I eat 1200 kcal a day, although on weekends I tend to eat closer to 1400.

Breakfast:  Kix cereal with my last few bits of fiber one

Lunch: Lettuce with tofu along with pineapple and artisan bread, oh and a brownie

Snack: Smallest apple I've ever seen and popcorn cakes

Dinner:  Lettuce, with some protein and whatever else looks good!
