Gassy from working out?
What I've noticed is that I get pretty gassy when I do my cardio workout. Since the machines in the gym are close together I try to keep it in all the time but last night "one escaped" and I was so uncomfortable, because... Man! It was a nasty one
. I had no problems at all before I started...
Can someone tell me why this happens and how I can prevent it? Is it in the food or in the workout (I am picking up running - so it was during a new exercise).
Jolanda
Don't think it is the workout itself that is creating the gas but the foods you eat. When you workout it gets things moving in your body and probably allows to gas to break up and move out.
Maybe try doing some jumping jacks in private before your workout.
actually that happens to me as well. but i've noticed that that usually happens when i have a full meal a few hours ago (if you eat just bfore you exercise it don't seem to affect it). maybe you should empty your bowels before exercising!
Hahahaha I have the same problem when I go for runs. I think it has a lot to do with the bouncing up and down.
happens to me too with jogging!
Avoid fiber before you work out. If you do eat keep it to a small amount of dense complex carbs or protein. The fiber is what makes you gassy and your body bouncing up and down doesn't let it sit very well in your intestines.
This is too funny! My 13 yr old daughter started cross country yesterday and is very good at holding it in in public. But as soon as she got home it all came out, all night long. I told her that if she "used" it during running she could probably up her speed by a couple miles per hour
hehehe, I see that I made a few people laugh, well it is funny subject when you think of it, especially when you're using it to run a bit faster... ;-)
thank you all for your responses, they were very helpful. Esp the one about fiber because I often eat a high fiber cookie before I work out because I do it just after work. I'll see if not taking one is different...
Again: thank you!
