Gastroentestinal Upset... emphasis on "gas"... anyone else's stomach revolting to healthy living?
Okay... I thought that eating healthy would help my GI tract. But, I have more gas now than ever before. I try to eat a lot of fiber and green leafy vegatables daily...but, I think it is too much. I have so much gas. Anyone got suggestions...or been through this before. I am dying here.
beano, simethecone drops, or my most recent find and it works, peppermint tea. I doubled bagged my cup and it really helped.
water water water o and water
Have you ever heard the Italian proverb 'Tromba di culo, sanità di corpo'? There, old knowledge that gas and healthy lifestyle are related.
It takes a while for the body to adjust to these diet changes. I think in a few weeks you'll be able to eat the same with much less stomach trouble.
Anise seeds are good against gas, and generally digestive.
The same thing's happened to me. Sometimes the gas can get so bad it wakes me up at night. Beano seems to be hit or miss. I've been having gas for months & I thought my body would adjust, but it hasn't yet. Good luck!
"Where ever you be let your wind go free, for holding it in was the death of me."
Farting is a sign of good health. Embrace it. Use it to your advantage.
If you're eating a lot of sugar-free candy, stop!
Ha ha good timing I was just thinking of a delicate title to make a similar post. I eat a lot of cabbage, broccoli and cauliflower so I was expecting some rumbling to start eventually. It starts as burps and ends up as..well you know the rest. I also recommend peppermint tea and honey. It seems to help. But, and this may sound gross, but does anyone have any suggestions to make it less *pungent* when it does happen? And, cellulitedelight, when you say use it to your advantage do you just mean get the loveseat all to yourself or something more sinister?
I've not adjusted "over time" as people say either. I have noticed that there are better and worse days. Beano doesn't seem to help - it just taste's disgusting and powdery. I just take advantage of alone time and my dh will just have to deal with it when he gets back. I love tea, so I might try the peppermint thing.
water DEFINATELY isn't helping me! I'm going to try the tea, personally. And I also am trying to only eat fiber at breakfast and not the rest of the day, lol. It is helping quite a bit, considering I get my daily reccomended in one sitting of All Bran....
HAHAHAHAHa - pungent......good word. I don't mind the release of the "stuff", but the aftermath even makes my dog go to the next room. I even think the wallpaper is starting to peel.
I blame the broccoli, cabbage and sugar free candy. How is it that folks not needing to lose weight are always sweet smelling with no "outbursts" eating well, and what we're eating to lose weight makes us capable of shooting to the moon, should the output be bottleable? Thank God I don't have a boyfriend during this embarrassing episode.

I don't have the problem, but a friend of mine told that activated charcoal worked for him when he had it. He said that he could feel his stomach swelling with the gas and that the charcoal put an end to it. I hope this works for you.
I think it took me about 2-3 weeks for my body to adjust to the increased fibre. Then the gas died down after that.
