Im getting frustrated i lost a stone and 7lbs over 4 years ago and have managed to keep it off although i might gain the odd half stone i always know that its creeoping on again and start to do something about it.The trouble is people at work keep telling me i look gaunt with one asking if i had lost weight and that i look really ill its about 5 different people now but i ont want to put the weight back on, plus im 39 so this doesnt help because i know you lose fat in the face as you get older. Im getting really frustrated because i dont know what to do or how to stop it happening.

Make sure your diet is as nutritious and healthy as possible.  Drink lots of fluids.   Also, have a good skin-care regime and get plenty of fresh air.   You can't plump your face back out exactly but if your complexion is fresh and your skin is a good colour you won't look so gaunt/ill.

Well first off it's a bit rude for anyone to say you look gaunt and ill and I can imagine it probably has made you feel self conscious.

There's nothing you can do about where your body decides it wants to gain or lose fat. I wish there were. The best thing you can do is keep your weight the way YOU want it, and revel in your bone structure. I'm one of those girls with round, soft faces and I'm always jealous of women with "gaunt" faces, because what that usually means is you lasses actually have cheekbones that show! It's all in how you look at it. Also bear in mind that people can be a little mean. I'm not saying that people are necessarily TRYING to be mean, it's just that people probably know you've lost a large amount of weight and for some reason this brings out all kinds of things in people from genuine concern (Omagad, she's going anorexic!), to feeling threatened (Now I feel fat by comparison, I need to insult her so she feels bad now), to hyper criticism, to this and that. The "you look ill and gaunt" comments are probably not even worth thinking about to be honest.

As for brightening and freshening complexion, you can look into adding plenty of fish oil into your diet. Taking a good Omega 3, 6, 9 supplement can help your complexion look fresher and brighter. Also, add Alpha Lipoic Acid, Co-Q-10, and plenty of antioxidants to help keep things looking bright and your skin looking "plump".  Lots of water too. May as well look EVEN BETTER. :)

 

 

Thanks i heard about omega but its so confusing when you go to buy it i heard it had to be over a certain mg and stuff but i think i will buy some. I must admit im not too good at drinking water even though  i know i should. It does make me self concious when people say im gaunt i could never say that to a person myself. Thanks again for the advice i really appreciate all the answers :)

Tan!  Fake tan if you're worried about UV.

 

And the best way to drink water is to start keeping a bottle wherever you are, so if you feel a twinge of thirst it's right there.

thanks i will try that i do  use fake tan but i still get told im gaunt its so depressing.

Your picture doesn't look gaunt to me.  Consider going in for a make over, perhaps your current style of make up application is emphasizing your cheek bones over your other attributes?

Thanks you could be right i do like to wear blush a lot as i dont wear much makeup and naturally have very pasty skin so im always trying to put colour into it.

Your cheekbones are prominent - but by no means do you look gaunt ... those cheekbones are to die for! Enjoy your great look and new self, the others are probably just jealous. That being said, the suggestions for healthy diet, lots of water and less blush might help if you really think the concerns are legit  Smile
