About my gazelle under the Activity Log

Quote  |  Reply

I did 30 minutes on the Gazelle today! I would like to know if anyone knows which option to choose when I type "gazelle" in under the Activity Log.

It gives me these options

  1. Ski Machine - General
  2. Elliptical Trainer - Moderate Effort
  3. Nordic Walking
  4. Elliptical Trainer - Light Effort

I selected the ski machine for now, but does anyone know for sure? Thanks in advance :).

You should choose the Elliptical Trainer.

I generally choose the Light Effort because I'm just starting out and only really go about 1.5-2 miles per hour!

Ski machine is most accurate for me when I match that number with the real amount of calories burned on my heart rate monitor

Here's a site I found that actually lists the Gazelle for activity and will give you the calories burned.

I just went to the website that was posted and it said I would burn over 500 calories in one hour on the gazelle??????  I don't even burn that much in one hour of jogging/running!  In my opinion, the gazelle is MUCH easier than running.  I think that website is misleading, at least for that particular activity.  I will check out some others.

I put it in under Ski Machine too.

I just burned 415 calories 'walking on an incline' on my treadmill for 44 minutes so  maybe it's not that far off.  That is according to my heart rate monitor!

When I called the manufacturer of the Gazelle they told me that at my weight and speed that I would burn about 350 calories for 20 minutes of activity.  According to the website I posted that is about what they estimate as well.  I guess it's possible that some activities may be off, but for me it seems to be pretty accurate.

I have a Gazelle too.  I would personally put it under the ski machine.

Is the gazelle worth it?

personally, I don't really feel like I get much of a workout on it.  I don't really get winded and I don't usually sweat at all.  Maybe I'm wierd, but it doesn't even feel like it's as hard as walking briskly.

yeah thats what it seemed like when I tried it in the store.

well it works for me , someone who is very over weight and hasen't done any exercise at all most of my life.

thanks for the info everyone!
