Let's Geturdone- over 50 +
I have had a few health problems but I am in great shape and healthy now and want to get this weight.
Could use any and all help. Would anyone care to join me in my new adventure?
Hi all - well those that are around.
Donna, thanks for the advice regarding changing routines, eating habits etc. I will give it a go as far as is possible. It is difficult because my days still revolve around a 9 - 5 ( well more like 6 by the time I get home) working day and whatever I can fit in around that and with the evenings starting to draw in it is difficult to go out walking. I have joined a salsa dance class and its one of the most fun and exhausting ways of getting through a bit of exercise.
The eating bit is a little bit more tricky - because I'm scared that I will fall back into my old habits simply because I can eat more. I need to get back into the swing of logging my daily routines as I have only been putting in my exercise and not my daily activities so perhaps I have actually put my body into starvation mode without even realising it. Anyway I am at least glad I'm not gaining.
I still don’t have my computer. I hate using another one but was really wanting to get back here.
Jenika- Well in the winter it usually isn’t to bad here. I live in Kansas and our weather changes daily, but anymore we don’t have the snow we use to get. We have had a few bad ice storms and I would rather have snow that this ice. It is in the 80 today and will get down to maybe 55, then cool in the AM hot in the afternoon. So many times we have the furnace on in the night and turn on the AC in the afternoon.
Now what business did you have? Sorry I have CRS disease…. Can’t Remember S---, Stuff. Haha
Good luck on the jury duty. I have lucked out and not ever served. Been called but never had to set and judge anything. 3 times it was settled and one time we were all setting in court house and they came in and announced” Go home the prisoner has escaped”-- kind of scary wondering if he was hiding in the back seat of the car, because no one locks the doors here. Well we do now but that was a few yrs back when we didn’t worry about locked doors.
Dess I have been using my friends WII it is sooo much fun, but too expensive for me right now. Just bought me a scooter and I love it but sure don’t give me any exercise.
I am going to have to hit the gym more or do the Walk The Pounds Away dvd-- or maybe the Red- but I have to get to doing more exercise. Sense I got the scooter that is all I’m wanting to do-- jump on it and take off. It is a small one it is a Rokata-- Japan made and will get around 100 miles to the gallon when it is broke in.
YAWN-- I’m getting sleepy, guess I’ll turn in for the night.
Sure hope I get my computer back tomorrow.
Well looks like its the week-end and everyone out having a good time. See you all later.
Donna
Hello Everyone!
Here it is Oct! Time is flying by. This was my last busy week. Now the calendar is empty and I know the food will be a struggle during the day. I must keep busy!
Please come out and talk!
Marie
Hello Everyone
My summer has wound down so I'll be staying around the house a little more, spending more time at the computer. I didn't intend to go so long without using the computer but the days just ran together and when I did remember to check my e-mails, I'd find 100+ messages at a time. That took time, weeding out the junk e-mail. And in the summer, I'd rather be outside enjoying the sun. Don't get much of that during fall and winter here in the Pacific Northwest.
Anyhoo, I'm back. I hope to see others come back, too.
Marta
I just received a note from Alice she will be back sometime. I have been busy being retired. lol Anyway I'm sure you will get tired of me when the snow blows and I'm once again living on the computer.
My motivation is somewhere setting on a shelf. Hope I soon find it and get it dusted off and get back to the "WEEEEEE I'm here and losing weight."
Need to get some work done that is another thing seeting on my self and the dustbunnies are multiplying. They are like that one pound of weight -- once one gets in they multiply fast.
OOPS double post-- guess my puter had the hiccups. Once again I'm poof and out of here.
Hi All,
Just a note to let you all know I am alive and kicking. I am also back at square one diet and exercise wise. Starting over is better than doing nothing at all and just giving up. I haven't read old posts so forgive me if I take a while to get up to speed on what everyone has been doing since last I looked in.
take care
Penny
Hi Penny
Welcome back. Things are pretty slow here now but I hope it will pick up when the weather is not worth getting out in.
I know we need one thing and only one key to weight loss and that is a mind set. It all depends on our choices. If we eat junk we gain, if we leave it alone we lose weight. So why do we make the wrong choices time after time?
Thanks Donna,
Ain't that the truth. We make excuses about slowing metabolism, menopause related stuff etc.... and its all about what we choose to put in our mouths, DUH!!!
Penny
Hi all!
Donna prodded at me (Thanks, Donna!) so I thought I should just pop in for a sec.
I have not weighed myself since the last time I posted. I suspect I'm heavier than when I started. I know I've been doing nothing to improve the situation, and have let myself eat whatever, and however much, I want.
On the other hand, we have finally moved into our dream house, named Tree House. Well, we're mostly moved. We are sleeping at Tree House, and most of our stuff is moved, although still in boxes. The rest is at the old house, waiting for us to pack it up and finish, already.
We still have to sort out things like deliveries, address changes (since we're not stopping the old address just yet) telephone lines, connectivity ... So I'll be highly irregular yet a while.
But I'm here. Thinking of you all. Hope you are all doing well on your goals. Expect me back sometime after the elections in the US.
Hi everyone! I am going to try to start posting again. I have gained a couple of pounds and need a fresh start. The exercise is going great but it doesn't balance out my over-eating. Right now I'm munching on carrot sticks. At least I feel positive these last few days. I know I can get back on track with the eating and learn to love that hunger again ![]()
Alice
Well gals I have a new addication but this one is good. It is the Wii. I bought it and then bought the add on the Wii fit. Great workout. I have never enjoyed a workout any more than I have this.
the weather is turning colder and I'll be forced inside before long. I put up my bike for the winter and thinking I need to do the same to my scooter but I'll see how long I can ride it before I give up.
Carol-- glad the move is coming along and glad you made it back here.
Penny- looks like we will have to go pull the rest of the gals back here as soon as the snow starts blowing. Hope they have this place as their winter home.
Keep the firplace burning we will be back.
Hello Everyone!
Glad to see people are coming around again.
I was on vacation, cruise to Bermuda with hubby and friends, it was wonderful.
However, time for reality. Back to putting workouts and food journals into a DAILY ROUTINE.
Alice, Penny, Carol, Marta....Let's get back on track!
Dess and Donna.....Thank you for the continued posting. It helps, even when I read and don't write. Donna, it's great you're losing!!
When I joined this forum we were playing the word game. What to give it a shot again? It helped me to stay focused on a healthy lifestyle. I just thought of the word and repeated for reinforcement. Of course, everyone thought I was nuts talking to myself!
Well here goes.....
A is for ATTITUDE!!! Keep it postive!!
Be healthy!
Marie
Hi Marie! Cruise to Bermuda sounds FABULOUS!! Sign me up.
Okay, I have a good positive attitude today, despite some unhealthy eating.
B is for BELIEVE! I believe, truly, that I can lose 5 pounds by my 54th birthday in December. Also for Back on track.

Well count me in as another one back to the fold.
Donna - you were correct about the snow - it's started already here in Ireland. Just a freak storm (we hope) it's been 25 years since we had snow this early in the year. Glad your enjoying the Wii and that it works for you.
I'm in the same boat as Penny back to nearly my original weight(not quite, still 4-5lbs lighter). So new focus between now and June - I would love to have lost at least 28lbs by then - I need to start getting real again and looking seriously at my portion sizes and my constantly bending elbow and mouth opening syndrome (it's a serious problem I have
) there always seems to be food of some description in my hand when it happens.
Welcome back every and good luck in all our endeavours. I look forward to some good news, good support and good fun as we journey on.
Dess
My new reslove last just a matter of hours yesterday as I indulged in 1800+ Cals and my activities were only at 2100 but am still in the positive frame of mind and know I need to get back in line again. I find that using the counters give me a reality check and I don't try to fool myself that I'm eating correctly when in fact I'm tucking into cookies.
Hey Dess, I hear you clear across the big pond! It's amazing how those little bites add up to pounds! I'm right with you.
I'm struggling to put the food out of mind when it's not mealtime. Meals are OK, it's the snacking that has me. Also, I am slipping from my daily walks. I'm still working out twice a week with my trainer but it's not enough. She gave the warning this week, get 6-10 lbs off by New Year's or else. I didn't ask what the else meant......If she ever dropped me for lack of results, I'll be back at 254 in no time!
I know time flies by, not enough hours in the day, but I really need the help and support of everyone in this forum. YES, I'M NEEDY!!!!!
I hope everyone comes back even if it's not every day.
Hello, fellow food-fighters! Marie and Dess, I have the same problem. Snacking is a big obstacle. I find the more tired I am at work, the more I snack. Now that the weather in California is cooling off, when I'm really tired I have started to take a nap in my car at lunch instead of walking or doing the elliptical. I figure I might burn 200-250 calories max at lunch, but the nap might save me from eating a lot more than that. I am holding my own with weight, but I sure would like to drop 5 to 10 pounds before the end of the year.
Get back to the walking, Marie! It is hard to eat while you are walking! ![]()
Alice
Hi Alice, Yes, you are soooooooo right, very hard to walk and eat! I do feel better when I walk. And now that the morning temps are cool, it's so refreshing. I totally understand about being tired and eating anything in sight. I hope people don't think you're homeless sleeping in your car!!! LOL
Hi Donna, GET YOUR COMPUTER FIXED!!! I miss you! Mindset, yes, you are right!! I find I really have to be focused and goal oriented to stay on track.
Dess, Penny, I hope you're both hanging in there.
It's true.....We are what we eat!
Be healthy!
