Any one following the GI diet?
At 196+. Not happy with current progress. I obviously have to watch the calories and step up the exercise, but I find the calorie counting very boring especially when I cook. I find the food listing mainly fixed on fast or convenience foods with determination of calorie content for home made very difficult. Looking at GI diet of "green light foods" and a 1500 Calorie a day limit.
Best wishes to all
April 17th update
Plateaued at 195, time to get serious on GI using green light at 1500 cal level and ramp up exercise. Big challenges are caffeine and potato chip cravings ( l'll admit it I'm addicted to potato chips). Need to make long term life style change seeing too many fifty somethings looking and acting like 70.
im not gonna beat around the bush
look, you are eating 1500 cals?
and you're doing exercise
that's bad
if you want a nice steady weight loss, eat more
1800-1900
then add on the calories burned by exercise
you will plateau cos your body doesnt want you to get rid of it's weight
weight training is a good thing to do
ups the metabolism, any food you overeat will also go to building muscle,
change your exercises, if you're doing mainly cardio, aerobic, do anaerobic for a bit
you need to use shock tactics to get your body to burn some weight off
Thank you, I appreciate the input. My goal is 1500 but I seem to hit 1650-1700 about 4 days out of 7. Things like oil on salad or too much almond butter are hard to regulate. I like good food, what I eat is 80% very healthy , just too much for my metabolism. The anarobic exercise is my missing piece at this point.
After about 3 days below 195, I ate all the wrong foods and bounced up again. I seem stalled. I know I need to add weights to exercise and be drastic in my food choices. Other life issues are on my mind
Best wishes to all, today is a new day...........
Last Entry: 193 lbs (May 06 2009)
Goal Weight: monthly 5 lbs steps to 175 lbs than maintain for 6 ths prior to any further drop. I would like <170 but not sure if that is realistic or sustainable.
Status: Lost 9 lbs, 18 lbs to go!
Not a great week for motivation or pushing up the activity. Six day a week walks of between 30 to 60 minutes have become an entrenched habit as well as 6 flights of stairs going up at least once a day. I have not established a set weight or flexibility work out routine yet. My eating habits are taking a pattern of 5 days of being fairly good than 2 days of”off the wagon". I do like good healthy Mediterranean Diet type food as a rule but I confess to junk food cravings at times. Comfort food for uncomfortable days. Job hunting stress gets to me but the daily walks first thing in am help me cope. Bottom line, I am doing ok for the situation with clothes fitting better and looser. Best regards to any Canadians for the coming long weekend (one week earlier than for you Yanks).
