Giada de Laurentiis, of course. I mean, the girl eats like crap for three days straight every weekend [well, maybe not EVERY weekend, but there've been enough]. and I mean, she EATS, not like Rachael Ray who just takes two bites or two sips and orders a water on the side. No, this chick is the real deal. and she still looks great! I wonder how the REST of her week goes.. how does she do it?!

How do we know what her portion sizes are?

I agree, she makes absolutely scrumptious porno-food. :) I watch her show and drool.
LOL  I LOVE watching Giada.  I like to watch the food, my hubby likes to watch her boobs. LMAO
everytime i watch her show she takes a baby bite and then drinks ? where is she stuffing her face?

she looks like she works out though

baby bites? no way! even if she takes just one bite, it's usually a very LARGE one as far as I've seen. yeah, it looks like she works out.. but geeeez. well anyway, she's my food network idol :D [right after bobby flay]
GRRR! Giada makes me jealous in every way. Well, minus the nose, her nose I could live without but jeez she has such a nice petite figure! I'm so envious of all the women that have cooking shows that are slim..how the heck does that happen anyway.. I have heard that alot of recovering anorexics and bulimics become chefs, dieticians, nutritionists etc so they can surround themselves with food but not necessarily have to consume it. weird, but its something i've heard more than once and from credible sources
I love her shows but that woman is a walking bobblehead. When I watch her all I can focus on is how big her head is in comparison to her body. I don't even know what she cooks because I'm so fixated on it. lol.
revolution, you said bobby flay is your favorite chef. He has that show now called Throwdown where he challenges everyday people (who cook, or own a restuarant) and the funny thing is.... I've never seen him win. I've watched Throwdown marathons and still never saw him win. He always loses... to normal people. This makes me wonder why is a famous chef if normal people are better and making just about everything than he is.

It's just something to think about. I really liked Bobby Flay before his show "Throwdown" started.
Ha ha!! Look at the first question:

My Mom and I wondered this very same thing :P Portion control and she probably doesn't eat processed foods, she's so lucky!!
Well it makes sense, eh?

What makes me wonder more is that girl, don't know her name, that allways wins in eating contests, still looking pretty nice, even more if you look at what she's shovling in her tummy O.o
amazinglaura--haha! yeah, she does look kinda dwarf-like behind the counter. and I've seen bobby flay win ONE throwdown--he had to make a mixed drink. I think the reason he doesn't win very often is because he's always trying to throw a huge spin on something very very traditional--like adding pine nuts to cinnamon rolls! what the?!

katethegreat--well that explains it! haha.. I'm sort of a grazer as well. I guess on her 'weekend getaways' show, it just LOOKS like she's consuming a lot.
wow really!? He finally won? It's a miracle! lol.

I just told my boyfriend and he says that show is fixed, haha, whatever.
i love the food she makes, but i'm bored with her cleavage bearing outfits.  does she have to show it off is EVERY single show?  she must have a great metabolism, or not actually eat the food she cooks.....of course i'm madly jealous of her as well...

or not actually eat the food she cooks.....

aah! there's the problem!  I never could stop @ 1 bite ~ after preparing it, i'm ready to dig in...

oops! that 'splains it
geez people, shes a normal person just like you or me.

she probably watchs what shes eats, and knows when to stop and show moderation. She's probably like most women, and probably worrys about her figure...

you can eat any kind of food you want, you just have to show moderation.
The answer is, she eats like a native Italian.  Something not many people know is, Italy is the thinnest country in Europe

Have a look at this Chart

Italians eat small portions, frequently and don't overindulge with large amounts of food.  A meal that looks huge on the table will be eaten slowly, with lots of pleasant conversation and socializing.  A meal in Italy can take hours.  Nobody stuffs themselves.  And.. they are all in a good mood.

Why Italians are Thin & Happy

I wish I could get back to the roots of my heritage.  As an Italian American I was raised on big portions and lots of food.  Over the course of 3 generations we've become Americanized.
Traveling in Europe has shown me how much more ACTIVE people are.  Americans tend to drive everywhere, and the only exercise we get is artificial.(in a gym) In Europe, people will walk places.  Also, if you live in an apartment without an elevator-more walking!  People have smaller homes and smaller refrigerators.  They buy fresh food daily to cook meals.  In the US and Canada, we buy in bulk at huge warehouses.  I tend to stop losing weight after a visit to Costco.  I mean - someone needs to eat all the food I just bought, ha-ha.
I just read the answer from Giada (followed the link above from katethegreat).

genetics, portion control and fresh ingredients

I think she's natually thin more than anything else :)  Giada is sooooooooo hot.  My husband and I love her shows (for different reasons ;)

besides her GInormous head I can't believe no one mentioned her tiny arms!  I get so distracted when I watch her show because her short little arms look so funny......she seems like a really nice person though, even with her flippers:)
I have to 2nd what Claire posted. I visited my friends family they are Italian (He is the 1st generation in another country) I was expecting a big plate of pasta. Nope. Big salad fresh from the garden, fresh veggies, calamari, and a small bowl of pasta it was a side dish not the main course and everyone had just a small bowl of it with homemade marinara sauce. And of course homemade wine. I was very surprised at the portions and the actual food!!!  And get this the family was thin!!!
