Gilad Shalit.
Did anyone here the news about this kidnapped soldier Gilad Shalit who was captured right before the 2nd Lebanon war 2006 near the Gaza Strip by the Hamas (Political or Terrorist organization depending Who you are), anyways he's still in Gaza. There were discussions on "getting" Gilad Shalit back by releasing 30 Terrorist prisoners who are themselves in Israeli Prisons, for the sake of Gilad Shalit. I know its hard getting hold of captured soldiers especially for the trade off of numerous terrorists But Im kind of angry at the Israeli government for the case of the captured soldier, Ron Arad in 1981-1st Lebanon war, Who was sadly kind of forgotten for 22 years. Still Imprisoned in Lebanon, I just hope Hope HOPE they will bring him back-Gilad Shalit at least. Because last time they tried "getting Back" Ron Arad we trade about 1000 Terrorists with Lebanon and received the other stolen soldiers but never Ron Arad, He Still might be In Lebanon dead or Alive, Hopefully still alive.
What do you guys think about this situation? Should Israel trade in 30 Terrorists for Our soldier? Personally I think so. But maybe its because I have an "Israeli Connection". Anyways Post your opinions, Im interested.
If Palestinian Authority Is extremely Poor, where are these weapons from? Magical Appearance with a lack Of money?

If Palestinian Authority Is extremely Poor, where are these weapons from? Magical Appearance with a lack Of money?
One point that I tried to make before but maybe I didn't do too well: just because a government is rich doesn't mean that the people are rich. The terrorist 'groups' or so to speak are getting ILLEGAL money off of PEOPLE and not countries (and if they are getting money off of countries again it is illegal) and instead of using it for their people, they use it to fight Israel. It's the only way they can keep creating strife and killings just so Israel will fight back. You can see that the PEOPLE and not the actual terrorist organisations have stones to fight with and not weapons. It doesn't matter to the terrorists who keeps dying but it does matter that they do something. It's the same for the people. Anyone who is proud of their country and wants independence will try and retaliate. As someone mentioned earlier, it is really in Israel's hands to take the responsibility and try to stop the war, because they are the ones who have power and the most money, no matter how you look at it.
In response to your previous post, I have lived in Israel for a day, and yes given the fact that it was almost 10 years ago, I saw that there is no need for an army. Same as in Palestine. And no, a country does not need an army to function, Switzerland seems to be doing fine and they have a pretty defunct army. The only countries these days that seem to place such an important idea on the army are the only countries who actually invade others: US and the UK are the main ones I can think of at the moment. Greece (a country slightly larger than Israel and with a great history of the Greeks invading other regions but also being invaded, has an army but we only really use it to defend our country and our shoreline. That's all. If someone tries to invade, we have the army and also the support of the European Union to protect us. If we invade another country, God help us because we'll get kicked so far down and made so poor that we'll never ever have a proper life again. Unfortunately, Israel has such support from the US especially, and because of that other countries' support as well, because they are too scared to go against the US (take a survey of most Europeans - not the government but the people - most are with Palestine's side and with the side of peace, not the side of war).
And finally, I think you knew that by posting a topic about such a debatable subject that you were bound to get some responses you didn't like. As some people have posted much earlier, unfortunately no one really cares or even knows about certain people. I could tell you stories about many Greek people at the moment, even mention a Greek tycoon who was kidnapped a couple of weeks ago and released thereafter, but no one would really care. It's the way the world works I'm afraid. Unless it's super big news or it's about Britney Spears or Paris Hilton (just giving an example ;p) if it's someone who is not from a specific country, my guess is they probably won't know and won't care about other countries' news. It's up to them to get educated if they wish about other news in the world, and their right to not get educated if so they wish. If you want to draw our attention to these facts, which you are definitely entitled to, perhaps you can make a blog where you talk about these things or have places we can read up about the Palestinian-Israeli conflict if we wish to do so. I guess it would just stop all the arguments, especially against what you say. I have seen mostly arguments against at what you're saying, and I know that there are two sides to every story, but it seems as if either you don't want to hear the other side of the story, or that other people don't seem to find another side to the story. If you sit and educate us properly (possibly by using another site than this) without having biased opinions either way, and just provide us with pure facts with references, I'm sure that you'll get a much more positive response. I know that as a human being you don't really like being argued at all day; I know I wouldn't like it.
You claimed then an army Isn't needed when you were in Israel, How so? You were protected, There was an army Present, Wasn't there?
Now honestly this is something I really want to know, Was it Hard for you to gain enterance into Israel?
And Actually Yes. I would really be interested in New subjects, Like the one you just stated, About the Greek Tycoon. And I hate the News In America because everytime I get interested in a subject on the news suddenly the Britney face pops up. What kind of News is that?
And I do care. I guess Im not like "The rest of the world". Glad you aren't either, From what I see.
It wasn't hard per se to gain entrance to Israel due to the fact that I have a Greek passport. But I was questioned for about an hour and a half about my intentions and when I was leaving and many other things as well. My dad who went to Israel to visit my mom while he was at university was stopped by the Israelis because they thought he was a terrorist just because he had a beard. I didn't think an army was needed when I was in Israel because nothing happened while I was there. If a nation continuously becomes oppressed then something is bound to happen. Ten years ago I must admit things were definitely not as bad as they are now.
I'm happy to see that you are interested in gaining insight and education into other news that are marginally more interesting than Britney Spears. However, not everyone is like that and you have to realise that as well.
Perhaps if you would like to see the other side, and see how Gaza is, you can join an international volunteer organisation to gain access to the area. I am not sure if this is possible because you probably possess an Israeli passport. It is always better to see something through a neutral organisation than through the army's eyes. I just hope that when you do see what goes on that you'll realise the horrible things that these people are put through every day. It would be interesting also if you could compared it to any Israeli places that are put through hell every day as I'm sure that it's not just Palestinian places that are being subjected to the horrors of war. But unfortunately, most people who do get affected are the Palestinians.
About the questioning for Half an Hour thing, Israelis do that to many people even Jews and Israelis, They thought my Friends brother was a terrorist because he also had a long beard when in reality he is Jewish, This was right outside the exit of Ben Gurion airport. Also my Grandma Has JEWISH written all over her passport but was born in Libya, And this is one of the reasons she hates coming here : Everytime she comes to America she gets attacked by questions as if she is a terrorist herself one time her suitcase was even taken for inspection. Yep, People investigate the wrong Individuals.
Puzzled and amused.
Why did Father give these humans free will?
Now they're all confused.
Don't these talking monkeys know that Eden has enough to go around?
Plenty in this holy garden, silly monkeys
Where there's one you're bound to divide it
Right in two
Angels on the sideline,
Baffled and confused.
Father blessed them all with reason,
And this is what they choose?
Monkey killing monkey killing monkey over pieces of the ground.
Silly monkeys give them thumbs they forge a blade
And where there's one they're bound to divide it
Right in two
Monkey killing monkey killing monkey over pieces of the ground.
Silly monkeys give them thumbs they make a club,
And beat their brother down.
How they survive so misguided is a mystery.
Repugnant is a creature who would squander the ability,
To lift an eye to heaven, conscious of his fleeting time here.
Cutting it all right in two
Fight over the clouds, over wind, over sky
Fight over your lie, over blood, over anything
Fight over love, over sun, over nothing
Fight till they die,
over what? for their ending
Angels on the sideline again,
Benched along with patience and reason.
Angels on the sideline again,
Wondering where this tug of war will end.
Cutting it all right in two
There is much better news out there than the bs shown on American tv. I saw an interview with a British reporter working for CNN who has been in Iraq for the last five years. She said she has to fight with her bosses to get more important stories put on the air. They do stories about what people want to hear about... and unfortunately, most people are tired of hearing about wars... even if it's what is the most important thing going on.
I like BBC news and Al Jazeera news the best... You can find other media outlets.

No, it's lyrics to a Tool song.
I've posted the lyrics to "Vicarious" on this site before too. Tool has a lot to say about humankind.

Yay Purespark! You knew the song.
Just For your knowledge. Today there was an attack in Jerusalem on a bus by the work of a Palestinian worker, Working in Israel who decided to take his working truck and ran over while demolishing cars, as well as on the way to demolishing a bus.
Aside from this attack my main point Is to show that this is one of the reasons why Israel doesn't transfer "full Power" Unto surrounding nations. And so Far From what I see, I don't think the Middle East Is ready for peace just yet. And this is 2 weeks after supposed "cease-Fire".
Just Bringing on My Personal Point.

Israel was even considering creating a fence surrounding East Jerusalem and the Jewish Quarter (Meaning a gate not only around Arab Side but Also Israeli Side) as a result of this random attack. Looking at this, This occured exactly 2 weeks after a "Cease-Fire" apparently the cease-fire failed.
