Yes, It's me the Israeli girl who obsesses about her Nationiality.  But this time Hopefully there will be no fights  =)

Did anyone here the news about this kidnapped soldier Gilad Shalit who was captured right before the 2nd Lebanon war 2006 near the Gaza Strip by the Hamas (Political or Terrorist organization depending Who you are), anyways he's still in Gaza.  There were discussions on "getting" Gilad Shalit back by releasing 30 Terrorist prisoners who are themselves in Israeli Prisons, for the sake of Gilad Shalit.  I know its hard getting hold of captured soldiers especially for the trade off of numerous terrorists But Im kind of angry at the Israeli government for the case of the captured soldier, Ron Arad in 1981-1st Lebanon war, Who was sadly kind of forgotten for 22 years.  Still Imprisoned in Lebanon, I just hope Hope HOPE they will bring him back-Gilad Shalit at least.  Because last time they tried "getting Back" Ron Arad we trade about 1000 Terrorists with Lebanon and received the other stolen soldiers but never Ron Arad, He Still might be In Lebanon dead or Alive, Hopefully still alive.

What do you guys think about this situation?  Should Israel trade in 30 Terrorists for Our soldier?  Personally I think so.  But maybe its because I have an "Israeli Connection".  Anyways Post your opinions, Im interested.

It seems to me that most Citizens, Israeli AND Palestinians have more important things to do than wander around planing bombs and killing people. Most of us have lives to live, jobs to do, families to feed and wages to earn.

It's those few who don't have enough to do that tend to be more of a problem, in general. There are definite links between unemployment and crime.

I don't have to put myself in your shoes.  My people have been through plenty.

Big Brother is the government.  Read 1984 for a full explaination.

I figured, in the C-C context, Big Brother was me ;)

Poor HK. That's not something I'd like to be compared to, lol.
Well If Israel won't protect itself, who Will? The Jews as you know are Tramutized by the holocaust especially, Maybe thats also part of the problem..

JewelsMCblah.....Are you Palestinian, Syrian, Egyptian?

Eh. I don't mind being all evil and controlling and stuff. ;) Works with my Evil Overlord Image I'm trying to give myself ;)

*watches, always watches*

Are we? Gosh, I thought most of us moved on with our lives, and tried to move forward, so long as nothing like that ever happens again.

I dunno. I've forgiven Germany. Have you?

Then also Why do I have to put myself in the "Palestinians" Place?

I can Also say fairly that my people have been through plenty and enough as well.  Thats easy to say.
Maybe you forgive Germany.  I don't think many Jews did forgive germany, Many really are still traumatized.
And exactly thats why you have to hold defense in order to prevent these kind of things from occuring again.  It's not as simple as forgive and forget as you claim.
I'm a Redman and a Mc.

I'm also done debating (if you can call it that).  I think Palestine deserves a place to call their own without fear.  I think Israel deserves a place to call their own without fear.

OK, thebledx3.. in an effort to hopefully open your worldview somewhat..

Please prove the statement "Many (Jews) really are still traumatized." Can you back this up with numbers or statistics?

We have a deal, hopefully.
Nope.  No number no statistics.  2nd hand experience from personal Individuals I know.  Including Israel as a whole, it always comes up , the holocaust situation.
I know ~20 Holocaust survivors and it never comes up.

My parents are orthodox Jews and they didn't need to "forgive Germany", because Germany never did anything to them. Nazis murdered Jews, not Germany. A country cannot kill anyone, only people can murder.

Germany hasn't forgiven Germany. My best friend is German and when a new person came to her work and she found out that person was jewish, she freaked. She was terrified that they were going to hate and be disgusted by her, just because she was German.

It looks like thebledx3 knows more about being a 'traumitized' jew than you do HK ;)

Edited - didn't want to be disruptive

Thats my point HK, kind of. How can you steal a land?  Like I said I don't know to much about anything going on over there, it just got me thinking, why was the land Palestine's?  I guess the question is who's land is it, and why do people on here claim it is Palestine's Lands?  When did they take control of it?  How did they obtain it?  (these are serious questions by the way, I do not know the answers to them).  And the question goes back for as long as there were people conquering people.  Whether it be the Americans and Native Americans or the Romans and Germania or Babylon and Jerusalem or whoever.  I highly doubt there was ever a land that was given freely and without resentment to another people.  I guess my question is, just because they lived there does that make it their land?

As far as a 'long time ago', I was referring to the biblical and King David and King Solomon (circa 1000 BC).  But I guess if you don't believe in that history (do you have another record or some form of history that denies it?)  then Babylonians didnt conquer it in 587BC and take it from them.  Then you are right, and my argument that it use to be their land doesn't hold.

As someone else mentioned, possession is 9/10th the law, and Israel is in possession of it now, so doesn't that make it their land and they are just trying to defend their land?  I don't know an answer, and I am not in position to debate this because I don't know enough, I am just throwing some other opinions out there.

Also, if the Jews should have forgiven the Germans (Nazi's) for something did 60 some odd years ago, shouldn't the Palestinians forgive the Israelis for something done 62 years ago?
