Girl Help...New IUD and my body is out of whack!!!

Anyone with an IUD?

I had an IUD inserted a month ago and this week I should have my period. I am feeling so bloated, but I am barely spotting. While I would happily give up my monthly, how long does it take for your body to adjust to an IUD and is this bloating going to be every month? I normally do get a bit bloated but this is different!

I've had an IUD for a little over a year.  Outside of the initial crampiness and bloating, I love it!!!  It took about 1 cycle for my body to adjust.  Every now and then I get a little bloated, but not too bad.  I also stopped having periods..... I think it's wonderful!

NO PILL.  NO PERIOD. NO BABIES!!!!!
It took me about 4 months to adjust. and the adjusting sucks, but the having the IUD is so good once you get used to it...

I had an IUD for a year and my periods got a lot worse! I had to have it taken out because I got an awful infection and almost lost my chance to have more children. My doctor said that some people they work for and some they don't. If the cramping does not get any better after a few month go to your doctor and make sure you body can hanle the IUD. My mother had one for five years and loved it! I hope you don't have the luck I had with it.

do you have the hormonal one (the mirena) or the copper T IUD?  I have the Mirena, and after a few months, you're probably going to love it--no bloating, hardly any PMS, really light or absent periods.  Just be patient.  Your body has to adjust :)
I've thought about doing this, but after reading that it could accidently slip out of place and out of working order, I'm a bit scared.  Currently I'm on the depo shot which is a shot you get every 3 months.  No period and no PMS.  I've been using depo for about 8 years and it rocks.  I'm also scared of the transition that could be between the 2 methods.   If I go back to having a cycle for even more than once I'd cry and/or my husband would kill me.  He's never known me with PMS, and I hope he never has to meet that B*tch!

Anyone ever make the transition between depo/IUD or have had a bad experience of the IUD getting out of place?  I do NOT want a cycle and I do NOT want kids!!
I have the T IUD for almost six years now.  It took me a few months for my body to get used to it, but it gets better.  If you have a lot of bloating drink more water.  If you usually have a normal cycle, then you can tart drinking extra water a few days before and continue through the cycle.  It sounds funny but water helps get rid of bloat.  Good luck.
Hey nymo
my sister was on depo for 10 years and got an IUD about a year ago. She had one pretty bad cycle and said the insertion was real bad (they have to dialate your cervix slightly) but after a few months to adapt she is in bliss, no periods no problems. She also doesn't have/want kids.

IS SKIPING A PERIOD NORMAL.. IF YOU ARE ON THE IUD??
I had one put in after my son was born and I LOVE IT too!!  I never notice my body out of wack from it (probably because it already was adjusting from just haveing a baby) but I dont have my period either!!  Ive had mine for 2 1/2 years.

Also my doc said it is not abnormal to not have a period with and IUD.  Some women like that side effect but some dont.. I guess its your personal opinion
I've had a copper IUD (no hormones) for over 3 years. Unlike the hormone one, the copper one tends to make you menstrate a little heavier for a couple of months and then you will regulate.

I used sooo many different types of B/C, depo, pills, patches, natural scheduling and the hormones really were super stressful on my body and now I am sooo pleased to now have the IUD. I don't even have to think about it. I LOVE IT!

Give it some time... if things do not get better in the next couple of months, go see your physician.

Good Luck
With some types of BC, including some IUD's and Depo as well as certain types of bc pills skipping periods is normal.

As someone who had helacious pms,  I love love love not having periods. I haven't had one for over 2 years thanks to my Depo.

To each her own I guess.

If you continue to have issues, check with your gyno, not every form of birth control is appropriate for every woman, it may take a while to find what works best for you.

I have had the Mirena IUD for about 4 years now. At first it hurt becaue the doc had a hard time putting it in, being that my uterus was tilted. Then I had the worst cramping for about a month. For a long time I felt fine! No periods, nothing!

However I still got the usual bloating and moodiness that usually comes with PMS, other than that it was liveable, until recently (starting about 2 months ago) I felt I was getting my period every two weeks! I had more spotting, more cramping, and I'm constantly bloated! I CANNOT lose weight. I cut out my worst foods like candy and sweets and cut down my portions, also walking more than usual but my weight will not go down! I managed to gain about 15 pounds the past couple years.

I have had a good past with the Mirena, but at this point, for some reason it has changed on me, and I just can't handle having PMS 24/7 and the constant water retention etc. I'm at the end of my rope.

I would recommend the IUD, but as soon as you feel like you're not yourself get it out!!
