5'11 Girls.....Anyone out there??

Quote  |  Reply
Hi Everyone.

I'm just wondering if there is any other girl out there that if 5'11? I so rarely meet other people my height. Id love to get some input from other people, share stats, goals etc. Even things like what clothes size you want to be? It's so different when your so tall.

Anyway, ill start. Im 5'11(obviously), and 148lbs. I'm currently between a size 12 and 14(uk). Id love to be a size 12, just to make things easier. My dream size would be 10, but don't think ill ever manage that. Apparently i have a small body frame. I find that hard to believe though, because i have a huge ribcage, and very broad back.(one of my pet hates!Damn my dad's genetics...).

I'm close to 5'11", I'm 6' foot, but I weigh a WHOLE lot more than you LOL.  I currently weigh 259 and I'm trying to get to 160.  I've been overweight my whole life, so I don't even know what size I will be.  Right now I wear a size 22 that are getting pretty loose.  I picked out a size 14 "goal-outfit" for when I eventually lose the weight, I hope it fits!
Sorry I can't be too much help, but my partner is 5' 11 and thinking about logging food intake etc.... on here, although it would be through myself as she has no internet access (I do from work).

Good height to be ladies :)
I was thinking of starting a tall girls' club and see that you beat me to it! Excellent! I would love to connect with other women of height to compare stats and share progress, etc. I find this site very supportive but sometimes find it hard to relate when people speak of goal weights of 100 to 120 pounds. It somehow makes me still feel heavy, even though I realize that being tall necessarily means being heavier.

Anyway! I am 5'10'' and currently 146 pounds. I currently wear a size 8 (treanop2 ... sizes in Canada must be made bigger than in the UK because it sounds like we have very similar stats) I started at 176 pounds about 5 months ago and am quite content at maintaining my weight at about 145. I am still counting calories and intend to keep doing so in order to maintain my current weight. Would love to share motivation, food ideas, recipes, and progress with other tall women ...
Hey, I'm 5'10" and 170.  I wear size 10 US sizes.  I would like to get down to a size 6-8.  i just need to lose 10-15 lbs and I'll be back in them.  When I'm 148 people tell me I'm too thin.  I think I might have heavy bones or something.  I was a size 4 at 150.  Hmmm, I'd be shopping in the plus sizes in the rest of the world.  Guess I'm stuck in the U.S.  Hey I don't know if you all order from the Gap at all, but they have created all sorts of clothes in tall.  All the turtlenecks, blouses, pants, skirts.  It's great!!  I can never find long sleeve shirts that are long enough for my monkey arms.  I got a couple and they fit great!!
I'm 5'10" but weigh a lot more than you all.  It does help me to carry it better though.  The bad thing when I was younger was that I always weighed 20 to 30 lbs more than my tiny, short friends.  Well guees what, that was normal and I thought I was fat when I wasnt'.  Arrggh to the messed up body image that got me.
heyy im 5"11!! its so hard finding pants long enough, its always been such a struggle (a tip tho, Off The Wall has awesome stuff for tall people hehe). i weigh 123ish...and im on here to maintain calories...ive only been a member for about a week, but already i find that its so interesting when you have to think about everything that you eat. it makes me not wanna eat the crap i used to eat late at night lol.
anyways, good luck to those wanting to lose!! so looking forward to dinner tonight, turkey smells amazzzing hehe
yeeehh, other people do exist!

stewie, I agree. most people talk about there goal weight been around 100lbs, and just makes my jaw drop:) And i think "I'm never going to get there", but you have to remember that the height does make a difference.

And talking about trouser lengths. Do ye have that problem too. It's a pain. I had a pair of size 14L trousers, that were part of a suit. They were getting too big, so I decided to buy the size 12L, just to have it to match the suit when i get there. And can you believe it, there about an inch shorter than the exact same size 14's. No fair.......

So, most of us seem to have the same goal weight. Are you happy with it? Do you think you will be happy, and content when you reach it. I'm happy with my weight, its very healthy for my height, but i still have a belly, and that kind of ruins it a bit. I don't want to lost more weight, just the belly. Easier said than done though!!
Hi, I'm 5'9", ok...it's not as tall as some of you (with heals it is) but tall enough not to be able to find jeans/pants that fit.  I hate going shopping for pants, I do agree that Gap has a great selection for tall women.  I have been "blessed" with a younger sister who is 5' 10/11"-ish and we used to share clothes, especially jeans (we live in different states now).  I currently weigh 124lbs. and am working on maintaining, counting calories and just staying healthy.
both gap and banana republic do great with tall stuff, but you have to go on line to get the good selection.  i go to the stores and try the regular stuff on to find my size, then go online and order it tall.  gap just added shirts, skirts and sweaters to the tall list too.  i have long monkey arms so i'm happy to have gotten some button down shirts with long sleeves!!  also there is a company called longelegantlegs.com.  they are small, but have some nice pj's and good shirts.  i like my shirts to come down lower then my belt so it's nice they make them a little longer.
I'm 5'11 and 145 pounds. I started out at the beginning of the summer at 162 pounds and changed my eating habits throughout the summer. By the time I got back to school in september I weighed about 156 pounds. Since then I've been using this and have dropped the 11 pounds. I'm generally happy with my weight now but i have a very thin upper body and a larger butt and thighs that I'm really hoping to lose. My goal is to get down to around 135 pounds. I eat just about 1500 calories daily and I go to the gym 6 times a week (burning about 700 - 800 calories each visit). I'm currently a size 8 and would love to go down to a 6... we'll see how it goes :)
Oh my goodness... i feel huge when you guys say that you are 145 pounds! It makes me feel like I'm doing this whole thing wrong! :O I just started this week though...and I got really frusterated today though :-\

Let me introduce myself though

I'm 21, I'm 6'0, and I weigh 175.  I played volleyball here at my university, but unfortunatley my 4 years of eligibility is up.  So i'm on here trying to lose some weight that I gained last years...At one time I was 159...and I really liked the way I felt about myself, i wish I could get back to that.  I wear a 33-34 in jeans from the Buckle....

I'm eating a little under 1450 calories a day....depending on the day.  I really want to fit into this SUPER NICE EXPENSIVE pants that I bought for christmas one year...that i can't fit into:( but hopefully soon:)

I think the thing that frusterates me most is the amount of time it takes to lose it.....kinda wish it would magically disappear...
selayher, don't let the time it takes to get there keep you from starting!  i started in january at 182, not knowing whether it would work or not, and am now 150.  you have to start somewhere, and you have to keep at it, and your body will thank you for everything you do to make it healthy!   i suspect you may need more like 1650 or 1700 cals a day, though.  don't try to do it too fast.   i averaged about that much per day, and reached my goal in august.
hey selayher, don't worry. At one stage I weighed 210 lbs. (god, i can't believe that now), and I'm down to around 148 - 150lbs depending on the TOM. Just think of how your going to feel when you get there. It's great - I still can't believe the difference when I look back at pictures!

I average at around 1300 - 1500 cals per day, so I would guess you need more than that. What did the tools here tell you that your expenditure is?

God, we all wish it would magically disappear!! I still wish that:) My dream as a child was that a my fairy god mother, or a genie would come along and grant me one wish! (unfortunatly, that never happened!!) Once you get into it, you will become more motivated, and losing weight will keep you going, no matter how long it takes.

Good Luck......(and thanks for posting in my tall girls thread. nice to know there is another one of here!)
Twindaze you are just like me.  I'm 5'9, but all my friends growing up were like 5'2-5'6, so even though I was a little over weight I always thought I was much bigger than i actually was because I weighed 20-30 lbs more than them.  It wasn't until a few years ago that I acutally came to this actuality, when I was looking at pics of me younger and thought how could I have thought I was so big when i really wasn't.  I wish I could be that size again...someday.
Katchuy -I know exactly what you mean!!! That's how i feel right now

I feel so gross right now.....i'm sick and had to visit the nurse on campus today and got antibiotics....i'm tempted to go work out right now...if only i had the energy.  Maybe a hot shower will do the trick.

Is anyone else kind of dreading Thanksgiving.  I'm very thankful for the fact that my boyfriends aunt is making cheesecake for dessert and i don't like cheesecake! So i kinda luck out there... :) lol

Hopefully the whole thing won't set me back...
Hi, I'm so glad someone started this thread.

I'm 5'10" and 141.  I'm mainly trying to tone up right now and get more physically fit, though I am curious to see how I'd look a few pounds lighter.  I'm mainly working on my cardiovascular health and losing inches right now, though.  I wear about a size 6 at the moment, but I have trouble finding stuff long enough.

Does anyone else have trouble finding clothing long enough?
there's a chain of stores in the midwest and canada called tall girl.  they have a website, too, but i'm not sure if you can order from it.  most of their pants have a 36" inseam, but they are starting to get some 34's now.  i love their clothes.  mostly their own brand, but some haggar for women, and some pendletons.

here's the link:

Hey tall ladies!

I'm 6'2 and currently 195 down from 210 (my highest ever). I'm getting married in May and really want to be down to 175 for that. Only 20 or more pounds to go! I'm a 16 at New York and Company (they have FABULOUS pants, very long and decently priced) and want to get down to a 12 (or a 10 at gap since they cut big) but I don't know if that's possible. Don't you hate it when people say regarding your weight or how you look "oh, you can pull it off!" or "but you're tall so you can't tell!" Drives me up the wall.

I think Eddie Bauer women caters to tall women as well but definitely look at NY&Co.
Hi, I'm 16 years old, 5'11", and I currently weigh about 127 lbs. I'm on here to guilt trip myself into quitting the comfort eating and illicit snacks, by logging everything I eat every day. So far it's working quite well! I just want to lose a few more pounds.

Yeah, it drives me stark raving bonkers trying to find clothes that fit! If the trousers are right around the waist, they stop half way up my shin. If they're long enough, they fall down 'cos they're too big on the waist! Grrr....
Laeille - I know how you feel with finding pants that fit. It's difficult. One store that I go to a lot for pants is American Eagle... they come in Ankle/rgular/long lengths, and the long cuts are generally perfect in length. They have cuts for different shapes; I like the stretchy jeans they have, but if you're thinner, which you probably are according to your weight, you could go with the skinny fit jeans. Hope that helps. As for actual pants.... the pain with that is most retailers dont make "long" sizes in non-jean pants. It's super annoying. But I think, as other people have mentioned, tall girl is good for that.

Anyway, on a personal note, since my last post I have made it down to just below 142. Little more to go.
