Girls, I feel seriously weird.
I dunno what's up with me. Seems a bit early for hormonal stuff to be kicking in, but maybe that's it? PMS is never fun, but I've been eating fairly healthy the last few days and I'm still super bloated and MISERABLE... And I keep getting these waves of nausea. Stupid. Here's what I've eaten today (So far...)
Breakfast
1/2 an apple & 1 serving Smart Ones Breakfast quesadilla
Lunch
1 Healthy Choice Steamers Chicken pasta thingy
Snack
1 South Beach Meal Replacement Bar
1 Natural Light Beer
Dinner
1 Lean Cuisine Potato Broccoli and cheese
1/2 Lean Cuisine Pepperoni Pizza
That's it. And I worked. And I can't even fathom trying to eat anything I'm so bloated. I just feel weird. And I've had plenty of water today.
I wouldn't worry so much and I know being "under" cals isn't that big of a deal if it's only once in a while but I've got something like a 2500 calorie deficit going and that seems a bit excessive. Tums didn't help at all... Any other ideas?
You could have some kind of virus, of course. Although, looking at your food choices I expect the bloating is in part coming from all the processed junk you eat.... all those ready-meals and bars are larded with salt, sugar and additives. The fact that something is called 'Healthy Choices', 'Natural' or 'Lean' doesn't mean it's healthy in large amounts. I wouldn't be surprised if you're also constipated because there are no vegetables or fruit in your menu..... very little fibre. That can make you feel nauseous.
Try switching to a more natural diet with more real food.... Breakfast could be some oatmeal/porridge or an uncomplicated breakfast cereal with some milk. Lunch could be a simple wholemeal sandwich filled with salad, egg, tuna, a little mayo... a piece of fruit to follow. And at supper time you could grill a chicken breast or some fish, steam some fresh vegetables and serve it with some boiled new potatoes... seasoned with a few herbs and pepper rather than salt... maybe some more fruit. Keep ready-meals as a stand-by or occasional treat rather than trying to live on them.
Drink plenty of water to combat the salty foods you have been eating, switch to a 'cleaner' diet with more fresh fruit and vegetables and I think you'll feel a lot better. You could also benefit from a multivitamin with iron as a short-term measure until your diet improves. A 2500 cal deficit sounds excessive...
Gi-jane beat me too it...but I was thinking the same thing as I read your post. That's a lot of processed food and it can really make you feel miserable, especially in warmer weather.
Thanks, ladies. I don't eat processed stuff all the time... But the last couple of days nothing has sounded good due to the way I've been feeling... It's easier to zap or unwrap something when you aren't even hungry then trying to plan and cook a homemade whatever when you don't even want to eat. (If that makes any sense.)
I do eat "real" food. I kind of figured the health-food fanatics would get on my case about my choices today. I should have put a disclaimer in my original post. *lol*
There's nothing really wrong with your appetite if you could eat all of that .... lol! However, if you're feeling rough, give things a rest and just sip fluids for a day or so .... fruit/herb teas, water, sugar-free squashes.... maybe spoon down a cool yoghurt or some juicy orange segments to keep you going until you get you feel better. I don't know if it's hot weather where you are but that can make you feel off-colour. And if you still don't feel well in a day or two obviously go to see your doctor.
Yeah thats what i was gonna say....try liquids for a day...teas, soups, etc. Hope you feel better soon.
processed foods = wayyy high sodium and salt contents, and like half the nutrition of whats in real foods. i suggest getting some real foods into your diet:)
Hey akela! If you're feeling yucky I'd recommend the "BRAT" diet. Bananas, rice, apples and toast. Easy to digest, easy to prepare. Hope you feel better soon hun
Thanks, girls... Doing much better.
Must have just been a kink, but it was really, really strange (and miserable!!)
Thanks, jane.
And senorita.
elf- Next time I'm under the weather, I'll def. give the BRAT diet a go! Sounds like it'd be very easy on the tummy. *Hugs*
