Hi I'm just getting serious about this weight loss thing. I'm 5'5" tall and 151lbs. I used to weigh 125-130 so this is very depressing. Anyone else want to talk about it let me know

Right here with ya!!! 5'4 and 148. Used to range between 127-135. Sadness.

I'm 5'5 3/4 inches tall and am just getting back into calorie counting after a long while of not keeping track. I weighed 170 at my highest and am happiest at 130. However, I have done a lot of eating since Thanksgiving and my weight is about 137. I'm just trying to keep it under control here and keep my sanity. It is so hard but reading these posts helps me a lot. Thanks!

Hey girls! I'm also in this boat.. 5'5.5" or so, and 160 right now. I've never been a skinny Minny like you guys have down at 130 because I have a large body type, but I would be GLAD to get down to 145 or 140.

Losing weight should be a good thing for us to make us feel better and to make us appreciate that we are capable of doing so. And, at the same time, I feel like we still have to love ourselves or else we'll get so mad and upset we will eat or not eat, and only hurt ourselves.  : )

If anyone has any really good ab/core fat-busting exercises, please share!

snazzykcat I know you can do it! I have a couple tips on ab exercises, I got hurt about a year ago and I've been in physical therapy for 3 months now so here are some that they gave me...

If you have one of those big balls they come in real handy.. Take the ball and lay down on your back, put you feet on top of the ball just like your laying down with your feet up watching tv. All you have to do if roll the ball to the left then the right just enough to lift one butt cheek off the floor. So when you roll the the right your left butt cheek will be off the floor. Make sure your engaging your ab muscles at the same time. ( pull your bellybutton to your spine, don't let your belly pouch out) It's simple yet effective.

Another is the bridge. Lay on the floor on your belly. get up on your elbows. now using your ab muscle pull yourself up on your toes like your making a bridge with your body. make sure you stay level like a board. Hold for 5 seconds come back down and repeat. THis one is still hard for me. You cann also do side bridges. Same concept just move to your side, it's best to have a towel or something to put under your elbow for the side ones.

Those are a couple that I have to do and they help. Also if you want to get Windsor Pilates with the Circle its a really good ab workout, it's all abs pretty much.

I totally understand where your coming from.

I am 5'4" and I weighed 163 pounds initially.  My current weight is 148.8 and my goal weight is 131 pounds.  Im starting to give up on losing weight because its so hard.  It was so much easier to not track calories, fat and not exercise.  To eat whatever I wanted.

I do agree with snazzykcat.  I would love to be in the lower 140's.  Ive never been skinny, ever!  I would love anything to feel better about myself and to be considered hot.  To be able to wear a binki which I have never done before.  I fear that I will never get there. :(  Help!

tgeving...I know it's hard, I've been up and down in weight since I was very young. I was very overweight when I was a kid, I lost it when I was a teenager then I got married at 22. I weighed 160 lbs when I seperated from him. I then lost 30 lbs in like 2 months, but it was because I stopped eating and started being very active. I ended up getting back together for a couple of months and I gained some of it back. I finally seperated from him again and started a new job and I met someone else, we're actually getting married. I was down to 125-130lbs then I got hurt at work. I havent worked for over a year and I couldn't walk for 3 months so needless to say I was back up to 152. I just started counting calories about a week ago and I've been going to physical therapy 3 days a week for the last couple months so thats helped.

I completely understand about not liking yourself, I never really have, maybe a few times in my life when my weight was down. I keep trying to get back to that but I have realized I'm getting older and I don't know if I will ever be back there again, but I'm trying. I reached that point that I couldn't takt it anymore and thats what has driven me.

You will get there I promise you, but you can't give up. You've already come this far your down to 148 that great so whatever your doing its working! You will be able to wear a bikini I know you can do it! If you need anything I'm here, I 've been through this a couple of times.

It seems I'm right in there with kelisahack.  I'm 5'4" and started on here at 145 just over a month ago and I'm currently down to 138.  My goal weight is 120 but we'll see when I get there.

I'll be your buddy! But would you rather do this as a public thread or private thread? Are private threads available on CC? Anywho, please take up my offer.

I gained weight my first year of college, as expected. Here are my stats. Please take note that I'm Asian so a GW of 110 isn't "underweight."

Height: 5' 5"

CW: 118-120

GW: 110 (what i weighed before college)

Currently I work out 6 days a week, but caloric intake is what I struggle with.

well i'm not 5'5" but im 5'8". not too far away. I gained a lot of weight from pregnancy... about 172 now. :( I want to be around 125.

4'11" and 144 pounds!  I lift alot of weight though, but could still stand to lose 20 pounds of "fat" weight.  This website has been tremendously helpful!!!  I am sooo much more aware of my calorie intake now.  I THOUGHT I was doing so well eating, but my portions were WAY out of whack.  Hopefully keeping track of every morsel that passes your lips will help you too!!!  Its been a few weeks for me and I just got my first compliment today at the gym that I look like I am starting to lose.

sabel12... what kind of workouts do you do? I'm about to end my physical therapy next week and I'm worried about not getting enough exercise. Right now I'm almost being forced to workout, but after its over I don't know what to do. So far I'm doing well I've lost about 1.5 lbs in a 4 days, I don't want to mess this up I need it to bad.

Since you're just getting done with PT I don't know what to recommend. But here's what I normally do. Since I've been runnning so much, my shins are killing me, so for the past few days I've taken a rest from my run/walk and replaced it with an hour or more of tennis with my friend.

M/W/F:

  • 30-40 min of weight lifting (various machines at my local YMCA, 10-15 reps 3x)
  • 30-40 min run/walk on treadmill (I alternate b/w a 3 min run @ 5.7-5.9 mph and a 1 min walk @ 4.0 mph)
  • 15-20 min of floor work (stretches/crunches/other ab work)

T/Th/Sat:

  • The same, but no weight lifting.

Sunday is normally my rest day, but if I'm up to it I take my dogs for a walk. I hope that helps in any way.

How does everyone else (on this post) "control" themselves when it comes to cravings?

how u doin sexy i think i need a buddy to. holla at ya boy

When I am having a craving during the day, at work, I chew eclipse peppermint gum!! Its really strong & the flavor really lasts.  Plus it satisfies the chewing aspect.  It seems like a small thing, but it works!   I have discovered Skinny Cow chocolate truffle bars, which are AWESOME, and I have those at home.  I do allow myself ONE everyday for dessert.  Knowing that I can have a "treat" every day has helped me control my treat cravings as well.

Oh yeah, I love Skinny Cow too! And Slim-A-Bear sugar free ice cream bars (just like Klondike but with less calories)! But my problem is sometimes one treat a day is not enough. It becomes another....and another....and another....especially with candy or cookies :)

I'm 5'5" and 140 lbs. I was at 170 lbs. I had a baby in september and it feels impossible to get that last 10-15 lbs. off. I'll get there slowly but surely, this site has helped me loose seven pounds so far. Its great.

How is your effort, thus far?

Well i was down like 4 lbs a couple days ago, but we had a b-day party for my fiances daughter  and we are trying to buy a new car and it's been stressful beyond belief because of the loan company that our old car is through. Don't ever use Wachovia for an auto loan! We've been short on money so food choices suck so I think I've gained 2 lbs back I'm not real sure. But it's been tough so far because everything hit at once. How are you doing?

Aside from food intake, have you had time for daily exercise?

As for me, it's slow and steady. I've lost two pounds as of yesterday, but I have my days when I want to binge eat like crazy but I try to suppress it before I go over 1500-1700. The weight loss is keeping me motivated enough though!

I haven't really had time to exercise like I would like. There has been way to much happening lately. It sucks, but this coming week things will have calmed down.

I was motivated with the weight loss, but when I gained some back I felt horrible. But things will look up soon.
