Girls In 20s Looking To Lose Weight... OFFICIALLY CLOSED!

Quote  |  Reply

Hey guys! I'm Ana. I'm 20 yrs old. I weigh 148.5 lb. at 5'4. I want to be eventually 125-130 but for now my short term goal is 140 by the end of the summer. Anyone looking to lose some weight? Let's motivate each other and just keep in touch to see how we're progressing. I want to make this a small group so I don't want to be more than like 10. This way we can really help each other out.

- edit - 07-30-09

So the group has grown over night lol and I've decided it is best to close up the group to 9 people. So the group is as follows:

1. Urbandecaay (myself)

2. Helent123

3. loseweight1234

4. shortiegurlie

5. horvathsgirl

6. cnm151

7. sbahnson

8. kdaughe5

9. born2doit2

That should be everyone... I don't think I left anyone out. Let me know if I did. I know born2doit2 is the last member to have written.

Hi Ana,

I'm Helen and I'm 22. I weigh around 146 lb  and looking to get to around the same weight around 128/130. I'm 5'57 and I think having someone the same height and stats as you is really good for perspective. I'm going overseas to see family in about 1 or 2 months so would love to loose the weight by then! I can usually be pretty good with calorie counting, last week I stayed within my 1500 daily limit during the week but on the weekend had to meet some friends of my boyfriend and drinking and eating played havoc on my diet! Today I had 1700 which isn't horrific or anything but I think having someone I have to be accountable to will make me stick properly to my limit which will make weight loss that much more effective! Obviously I have my days where I binge on something silly, but thankfully they are getting fewer and far between and when I do "fall off the wagon" I'm better at not going into full guilt mode and just get back on track.

haha I started laughing about the "full guilt mode" comment because I can relate. I think I was bloated from the weekend to be honest bc i'm usually 145-146... Yesterday I was 148.5 at this time in the morning and now I'm closer to the norm, 146.5...the weekend really seems to affect me. I'm going to try to be better on the weekends because during the week, i'm pretty good. I also see my boyfriend's friends a lot and they're always doing like 2 am food runs which sucks... a good amount of the time I try not to eat because 2 am + crappy food won't equal weight loss lol. I agree about the same stats because a good perspective for us. I'm confused, are you 5'5? or 5'7? lol To be exact I'm like 5' 4 3/4 lol but I usually just say 5'4 or 5'5. I definitely want to be the late 120s as my every day weight. We'll get there eventually :)

hey girls!

I am roughly the same stats! Im 20, 5'5 and I weigh around 149-151 pounds! My ultimate goal is to lose another 20 pounds and be around 130! I would love to have some people accountable and to make small goals together :)

I started the 30 day shred today by jillian michaels ...pretty tough but i definately can stick through it. Ive been in a plateau for the last two weeks and Im hoping this will kick it through. What do you guys say about weekly weigh-ins? Mondays?

Hey ladies!

I am 5'1 ish and weigh 130lbs.. Id like to drop about 20lbs (but I have a lot of muscle mass so we'll see how it looks).  Id love to help keep people motivated and have them do the same for me!

I forgot to mention.. I'm 21.. which sucks bc my friends drink alot and I pretty much will eat anything free or cheap lol.... well that and I babysit alot so kids have the most tempting foods... I exercise like a beast so limiting my unhealthy foods is definitely where I need to get some will power!

Hey girls!

We could definitely do like Monday weigh-ins! Is that good with everyone else? This Monday the 27th can be our first week. We'll put our starting weight, current weight, and goal weight... if you want you can put your measurements as well. I just got my measurements yesterday so I'm going to check again in like 3 weeks if anything has budged lol So we're basically between 20-22 years old... thats cool.

Let me know what you guys think about Monday weigh-ins!

Hi girls, is it OK if I join in? I'd be the oldest of you all... just turned 23 about a month ago and I am 5'4", 129 right now trying to get back to my pre-twenties weight of about 115 (actually I was 113 my senior year). Regardless, I am here for the same reasons as you are, and I agree that a smaller group is much easier to relate to and share with!

I am what you call the skinny fat girl. I am at a size six right now but I have absolutely no muscle tone which makes me very flabby; I have a "donut" around my waist basically :( So in addition to the calorie counting (I'm new to that but I am an overeater so it is helping) I am working out about three times a week, working my way up to four or five. I like the elliptical or I power walk, usually either for 30 minutes

I would love to join your group, let me know if I'm a good candidate (for lack of a better word.. ha)!

-Jess

I think mondays are the perfect day to weigh in.. so it can help us not go crazy on the weekends. I am with shortiegurlie ...i go out so often.. and it always involves alcohol and late night pig outs (ugh) ...ive learned to control and save calories over the year but i still have no control with my eating while im hammered and not to mention tired from dancing all night long.

Anyways heres my stats:

SW: 177

CW: 150

GW: 130

Ok so Mondays it is! That's definitely a good idea...

SW:149

CW:147

GW: 127

Should we close the forum at like 8 people? What do you guys think? We have like 4-5 right now. I feel like a smaller group is better so we can keep tabs of each other better. Let me know what you girls think...

- Ana

I think thats a good idea, I feel like I would be held more accountable at least if we were a smaller group (more guilt for failing haha) and Mondays is a good idea, weekends are when I tend to do the worst but that will hopefully encourage me to work out more and eat/ drink less!

SW: 130

CW: 128 (bought a digital scale yesterday!!)

GW: 105

My first goal date is November 1 (going to Vagas for the first time with the girls and then a cruise to the carribean in December so I need to look better in a bikini for both.. eek!)

Hey gals, I was wondering if I could join in. I'm 23 and a graduate student, so I'm still living in the college/crappy diet and exercise routine. I'm also a different body type than the rest of you. I'm 5'8" and 257 lbs. At my lowest (that I started caring when I was 20) I was 185. This was right after I had my tonsils removed and the complications from that... so I basically didn't solid food for almost 2 months. But as soon as I could eat again, my weight shot back up to 225-230. This 257 is the heaviest I've ever been, and I have big goals for myself. I've always been a bigger girl, danced and played softball til I was 17. So I'd like to think that some of my weight is muscle and bone structure... but I don't want to use those as excuses, lol.

So, my current is 257, my goal weight is 160 by my 25th bday, so Oct 21, 2010.

SW: 257

CW: 257

GW: 160

Monday weigh ins from the 27 sounds good to me. I'm 172cm tall so not quite sure wht that is in feet! i think it's 5'6. I'm moving house at the moment and am not working for 3 weeks before flying to Australia for a month so am partially terrified that all my hard work shall be undone. I have to just keep telling my self that this is who I am now and I can do this.  My family and friends are in Australia who I haven't seen since September so I want to try and loose a dress size by August 24th. I've been attacking calorie counting with military precision these last two weeks and have stuck to my 1500 limit each day apart from once.

Yesterday I spent half an hour bagging up carrot, cherry tomatoes, figs, dates and peppers into 30 calories sandwhich bags. Every every every time I go out I try to remember to take some with me. Seriously helps so much. Yesterday I was walking round the bakery section of a store just inhaling deeply then was like, ok yo've had the smell now GO, go go and just left and started munching on carrot sticks I had in my bag when I got outside, I find it really takes the stress away, espically when you're stressed and bored and out the house. It has definatley avoided some mishaps for me over the last two weeks so I would recommend that because even if you're not in a "danger" mode and are just hungry I sometimes find it impossible to find something snacky and healthy when I'm out and even if I do it's like 150 minimum which is fine but I find it more staisfying to crunch on some carrot sticks for like 30 calories...also cheaper which is always good!

Hi there!

I'd like to join too if that's alright. :) This seems like just the right group for me. I need accountability and have done some month-long challenges, but need a bit more.

I'm Sara. I'm 23, 5'2", and currently 132 lbs. I started CC in January at 186 lbs., with an all-time high of 205 lbs. At this point, my body is not losing the 1.5-2 lbs. a week that I was used to, so I've been a bit frustrated the last few weeks. I just need to remind myself that even a half a pound a week is good and still progress!

Great idea, Helen, to bag up your snacks. Something I'll try to do this weekend when I have more time.

Well my goal is 125 (or 120 would be even more awesome), so I'll be checking in for those Monday weigh-ins.

Hope everyone is having a great week and thanks, Ana, for starting up the group!

Hi guys...so first weigh in! I jumped on the scales this morning...as soon as I woke up I went and had a pee (I figure that's like half a pound or something :-p). My weight is 142 pounds / 64.5 kilograms (I grew up in Australia so I usually work in kg but for "group continuity" I'm going to post in pounds as well) Hope you guys had a good weekend....mine was calorie blowout but I didn't hop on the guilt train at all...well maybe for a second or two, now I'm back on calorie counting with a vengeance! I'm moving house at the moment and started a new university course today so am trying to make sure these stress issues don't result in eating ice cream/bisuits/whatever is in the cupboard!

Hey gals... today starts the beginning of two busy weeks at work, with not much time to work out. That always happens before a much-needed week-long vacation, doesn't it? Haha. Anyways, this morning I weighed in at 255. Good luck to everyone else, and congrats!

-Crystal

I weighed in this morning ..149 pounds! Bye bye plateau and thank you jillian michaels 30 day shred!

This week I have done the shred everyday and eaten 1300-1500 ..and im under the 150 today finally!!! More motivation to stick to it.

Its the long weekend next week so im hoping I will be able to stick to my plan this week ...but I feel much stronger and healthier this week and am starting to see some definition in my arms!

Im doing a year abroad in Nice, France this september! Meaning that I will be on the beach everyday ...aka. the dreaded swimsuit. Im hoping to lose about 6 more pounds before I go to France! And im so scared to gain the weight back there!

Well girls... I was bad. I did not weigh myself this morning.. but I did yesterday and I was 126, so that is pretty darn good! I started CC last Monday at 129. I'm sure this is just water weight, not sure, but I'm doing good I guess! I have been good exercising, but the eating part is bad. For instance last night my friend had the genius idea to eat at Outback Steakhouse. First of all, I'm a former vegan. Second of all, I'm counting my calories. The good news is I only ate half of my mean, which consisted of fish and veggies, and when I brought the leftovers home my boyfriend ate them all so that is good. Those mashed potatoes would have gone straight to my ass! I feel sort of guilty for not exercising today but I did wash and vacuum my car which is lots of exercise and I polished the wheels. It's about 105 with the heat index here.. HOT.. so I was definitely sweating. Well, I suppose that's it for this week!

Good luck to you all ladies! I need motivation to work out more!

Hey sorry I've been MIA guys... I haven't weighed myself. My grandpa died and I haven't been online much. I'm going to give myself a few more days. I will come back to put in a weigh-in on Monday.

Hope you guys are doing well. I'll talk to you ladies soon!

- Ana

Hey guys!

I'd like to join this group too if that's ok. I'm only 19, but I'll be 20 in Sept so I figure that's close enough haha. I'm 5'9" and 172 lbs. I found out I have a really slow metabolism so I haven't lost as much as I thought I would, but I've been eating a ton of fiber, and taking some supplements and that seems to be helping. I started eating healthier and exercising in the middle of June, but I figure it would be really helpful to have other people to talk to about it instead of just doing it myself. I really hope I can be down one pant size by the time I go back to college!

Oh and loseweight1234 I've done those Jillian Michaels workouts! They really are killer, especially the boost your metabolism one, it's a whole hour but you feel so good once your done....but after you feel like you're going to die of course haha.

SW: 177

CW: 172

GW: 145 (I don't expect that by the end of Aug, that's just the overall goal)

And my best thing to do when you're sitting at home craving sugar is to chew a piece...or 5 of fruity gum. It will last a long time and you'll get a sugar fix and it calms down that oral fixation.

Also drinking way more water then you think you boosts your metabolism like crazy....but we all knew that.

Hey guys sorry I disappeared, looks like the group got big quick. I have been working for a week straight and go back again tomorrow (I am a nanny and the parents have been traveling alot) That means Ive been eating lots of "kid junk food" like pizza, fruit snacks, cookies, cupcakes, chips, you name it....  Also there is no time to hit the gym or go hiking being as I am responsible for 3 kids.  I have been trying to do active stuff, but with all the munchies entering everything on here went out the window on the first day.  I did not lose at all since I first joined, but I have maintained which is better than expected given my poor diet and the fact that doing the rock wall at an amusement park has been the most exercise I have gotten.
