Girls in their 20's who want to lose about 100 pounds

Quote  |  Reply
Hi, my name is Suzanne and I am 23 years old. I weigh 258.3 pounds(yikes) and would really like to get down to between 140 and 150. I was wondering if there was anyone else out there in their 20's who has about that much they want to lose. We could work together and stay motivated to reach our goals!!! Also, if there is anyone in their 20's who has lost that much and wants to share their success story, I would love to hear it! Thanks!

Hi, please stop me if I've come to the wrong place or done this wrong it's my first time on this forum.

I'm 20 yrs old and looking to lose about 80 pounds. I'm 209 (started at 222 originally) Just thought I'd come to find some like minded people.

I'm 5'5" and would like to get down to 133 orginally but mostly I'd just like to hit onederland this year.

my problem is the exercise. I hate it! I drag myself through it and I feel good at the end but I can't run for more than a minute but I can walk really fast for about 4 before I get really out of breath and have to slow down to normal wlaking pace. but I still put myself thought 30 mins on that treadmil (or outside) three times a week alternating between the two. I seem to be losing... but I dont' know for how long.

wow, you guys are making me dare to dream that i could be a size 14 by the end of the year, afterall.  especially, if i'm looking at a 14W (closer to a regular 16) rather than a 14... i can get down to the hips of a 14 regular probably but not to the waist of a 14.... my waist is always trailing!  hence the W sizes always fit me so much better than the regular stuff!  254.8 to 210 doesn't seem so far!!

Welcome, alice! You and I have basically the same start point and goal, so you'll definitely be getting support from yours truly. ;)

As for the exercise - just do what you want and what you can, I find that when I force myself through a routine "just because" that just makes me hate what I'm doing and I end up giving up. I've dedicated myself to working out "this time around" but I also listen to myself and my body and not sabotage myself because I'm trying too hard (or something... you know what I mean ;) ).

Keep up the great work! You're doing great!!

And now... about me. jk jk I promise I'm not THAT self-centered! I have a bit of a sore throat - it's gotten worse throughout the day, so I'm laying low tonight, drinking a lot of tea, and I'm going to make myself go to bed early. Tomorrow it's haircut and to the gym, then a BBQ/party thing, so I'll be saving some cals for the evening (and probably doing extra minutes/reps at the gym!).

Also, anyone watch "Project Runway"? What's up with "Suede"!? Obviously he thinks he's starting some sort of trend by talking about himself in the third person... Random.

Happy weekend, ladies! :)

I just had to come here and Vent to my ladies for a second:

A lady e-mailed me today and cancelled our interview saying she already filled the position, that's fine, I think the thing that bothered me the most was that she couldn't even pick up the phone and contact me! This was for a job where she called me and told me specifically that she was holding an interview spot for me because she thought I would be a great fit! WTF? At least have the decency to pick up the phone---After that I realize I would not want to work for her anyways!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!

At least I still have 3 interviews

hey ladies!

Lol with the SBS replies. I'm thinking on going to Victoria's Secret to treat myself before I go back to the road. It's pricey but I like the designs. Lol.

welcome, alice!

Watchme, congrats on the weight loss!

dalma, I also prefer group dating! I feel less stressed and if it doesn't work out I still have fun!

boots, I hate when people do things like that! Happened to me once and it sucked!

BIGGEST LOSER WEIGH-IN

Last week: 230

This week: 229 (yay!)

pixie- Wii exercise is awesome!  I plan to "play" for 30 minutes, but I just can't get off until I've "played" all my favories (and they're allll fun!).  I get a kick out of having the top scores and beating my latest records.

watchme- I started at 233 lbs. and sizes 18/20.  I've seen the biggest drop in my hips, thighs and butt.  My cousins tease/envy me for my "ghetto booty".  I've still got BACK, just not BAAAAACK!  lol

Edit:  Oh, BTW, I wasn't in the 14's for very long, but I think I'll be chillin' in the 12's and 10's for a good while.  I've posted some new pics (finally).  The tan pants are a size 12.  The 10's that I have are shorts, but they're still a little snug.

Pixie - Thanks I've added you to my friends list. :D

I'm feelign really low today! all of friends (and boyfriend) are busy with other people and I'm feeling really lonely....

I'd kill to be a 14 again! I still have my very expensive diesel jeans in a size 14 and some hugo boss ones (the only thing close to designer I own) that I refuse to throw away even thought I'm a size 18 atm... (I'm actually like a 17... if thats possible)

what exercises do you like that works as cardio but isn't running? I'm getting fed up of the same routine!

Hey girls,

Just updating my BLC but I'll have to come back and read everything.

LW: 326.2

CW: 324.0 (2.2 lb loss!)

I did 2.23 hours of working out and did drink at least the 384 oz of water since monday.

BLC weigh in

Calorie Count Starting weight: 286.4

BLC Starting weight: 244.4

Today's weight: 239.4

Thats only down .4 from last week. But, it's a loss, so I'll take it. And I didn't even think I'd have any loss since I've been seeing numbers in the 240's all week. Plus I ate like a hog yesterday. I'm thinking I might give zig-zagging a try. Because when I eat more calories one day a week I tend to drop the next day. Like my body finally realizes I'm not starving it and decides to drop some of the weight. Who knows? Anyone have success with zig-zagging calories?

I got in 3 hours of workout this week and well over the amount of water for the challenge. Let's go black team!!!

BLC Starting Weight:  258

Last Week's Weight:  257

Today's Weight:  254.8

all my water in, got in my exercise hours

Exercise challenge:  21.5 out of 25... will add more later today!

happy to contribute a loss to my team this week!! :)

going to weed out my closet some more today!  fun!

danibelle, your face has slimmed out a LOT!  way to go!

mladdy, your pics are fabulous!  i'm so proud of you!  it gives me hope that i can be where you are in like a year since i'm 20 lbs higher than your starting point was in jan!  even that seems like a lot to me but at least i'm not like 60 lbs higher than your starting point anymore, right??? :)

boots, that woman was rude and really unprofessional.  she should have called you cuz not everyone necessarily checks their email all the time esp when she knew you were probably flying out shortly and could very well have been planning to come out a few days early to enjoy a weeked in cali.  no matter what, she should have called you to explain.  it's just good manners.  at least you still have 3 more interviews lined up though!  i'm sure you'll find a position that you love out of them.

Haha, about the SBS, what I’m looking forward to is going down from the 4 hooks in the back.  I mean seriously, that’s way too many.  3 hooks is perfectly fine.  So when I get there, I’ll be super happy.  As I had gained weight, I went from a full C to a full D, so it doesn’t surprise me that I’m losing in that area now.  But it hasn’t been a ton.  I have a bunch of bras that I’m waiting to be able to wear again.

Watchme, what weight were you when you got out of 28s?  I’m still waiting for that.  I’ve lost 40+ lbs and still have the same clothes.  Yes, a bit looser, but not substantially so that they’re falling off.

Welcome Alice!  What I would suggest is getting the stamina up before trying to push yourself too hard.  If a minute of running winds you, try a half a minute and build it up slowly.  Also if you have digital cable, there are a ton of workouts you can do from the Fitness channel.  I don’t get the channel, but I have it on Demand.

Boots, I’d have been quite pissed off.  But woohoo for the other 3 interviews!  So excited for this huge change of yours!

Mladdy, you look awesome!

July Challenge: 12.42 of 15

liza, i started off in the 320s and was in 28Ws.  i basically went from 28Ws to tight 24Ws and elastic 24Ws at 290-295 lbs -- since i didn't have any size 26W pants for the in between phase i was wearing sash belts to keep my 28Ws up for 5-10 lbs before i made the leap to the elastic size 24Ws.  at 275-280 lbs i was a good size 24W.  at 265-270 i hit size 22W (very quickly, i know).  and, at the mid to high 250s (where i am now) i fit into most size 20Ws.  i don't fit into regular size 20s yet though.  i carry my weight in my abdomen though and have relatively smaller hips/thighs/butt.  hope that helps!  keep trekking! it felt like it took forever for me to get OUT of a size 24 but then the jump to a 22 was a snap and the jump into the size 20s has also come relatively quickly.  it's because the gap at the highest sizes are 3 inches hips and waist wise to get down a size and the gap then goes down to 2 inches hips and waist wise and then 1.5 inches to go down a size and then 1 inch and then 1/2 an inch!!!  it's great because seeing the changes of size come quicker eventually is what will keep you pulling through!

Just posting BLC weight, will catch up later.  My body is totally playing games I'm at 223.6.

Though had a BAD day today, have not had one like this since I started this a year ago, so not sure what this week will bring, I'll have to be extra good this week, eventhough I am good, so not sure how I can be better, maybe more working out!!

Hi all, just doing a quick BLC weigh in.  I'll try and post more tomorrow.

Last week: 176.2

This week: 176.4

Even though it's a gain, I just can't bring myself to mind since I had dropped so much last week ( 3 lbs. is a lot for me in a week) since I was sick and then last night I ate REALLY badly.  I'm sorry Red Team Embarassed; I should have tried harder!

Pizza is still my #1 trigger food that I really need to work on.  Anywho, my goal for next week is to be under 176 lbs!  The lowest weight I ever remember being my junior and senior years of college was 173 and that was during a diet phase.  I'll be so excited to surpass that and get under 170.  The next weight range I remember being was at the beginning of college and I think I was 140-150.  I don't even know if I want to get back to that weight considering how my body has matured since then.  I feel like I'm a lot more muscular and womanly now than I was then, but who knows, maybe I won't even be happy with my size until I'm 125 lbs (I'm only 5'3'' so it's a definite possibility).  I'll know what size I'm happy with when I get there, I guess.

Thanks for the encouraging words, ladies.  I'm happy about the way I look, but I have to snap out of this "comfortable" phase I've landed in.  I got myself some new tops from American Eagle, and I continue to be complimented on them.  I guess I'm "rockin' em" :)  I need to remember that I'm not at a healthy weight yet, and even though the compliments are nice, I'm going to get oodles more when I get to my happy weight.

Speaking of weight, I'm coming in at 186.  Booooo...  I didn't lose from last week.  I really didn't try very hard either.  SORRY!  I did get all my exercise and water in, but I also ate and drank (Starbucks, Coffee Bean and McDonald's Iced Coffees, OH MY!) too much.  My new addiction is a frap I've concocted at work...  Grande Caramel Frappuccino, with a whole banana, 3 scoops of protein/fiber powder, and whipped cream and caramel on top.  Be afraid; be verrrry afraid!  Don't try it!!!

Confession:  I had a vegetarian burrito for dinner tonight, but it probably could have been 3 servings itself!  I ate it all.  Laughing

I'll catch up with you all tomorrow.  Good night!

hey everyone, i feel bad because i did not exercise today and i did not stick to 1600 calories.  instead, i had about 2000.  yesterday, i also ate above 1600.  i had 1500 calories plus my dinner (not sure what the dinner total would be-- i had this noodle soup with 3 chicken dumplings in it...)....

i was really sore from weights on thursday night and i did walk home from work (2.5 miles) at least 3, maybe 4 times this week.  need to go back and check but i'm pretty sure it was 4 times. plus, i did 2-3 hours of elliptical and 2 weights sessions.  i should NOT be feeling bad and yet, i do.  i sat around all day and chatted with friends online, talked to friends on the phone, sorted through a TON of clothes, threw out some crap (i might be moving) and just vegged on the couch watching tv.  did not cook or go get fresh veggies for the week... did not hit the gym.... hence, guilt.  i had been out a couple of nights in a row this week, including last night, so just didn't really feel like getting out of my pajamas today.  anyway it's almost midnight and i actually have to go into work tomorrow to get a ton of work done so i guess i'm off.  i'll talk to you all later.

Watchme, not every day is going to be awesome.  Just as long as the next day counts.

So, I decided to try on some of the 26's that I have around my house.  These are things that hadn't fit when I moved down here or didn't fit soon after moving down here.  So, we're talking 1.5-2 years ago.  But, the capri's don't fit that wonderful.  Way better, but there is a lot more stretch in them and they aren't stretching very nicely.  But the long pants that I have I stopped wearing when you started to see the pockets cause they were pulling.  Well, in one of them on one side you see just the tiniest bit of pocket, but otherwise, way more comfy.  By the time I would wear them in the "winter" (which is just not as hot here), they'll fit more then fine.  With this last weigh in, I hit my mid goal of 325.  And my "until I see the family at Christmas goal" is another 25 lbs, which I know I can do since it's just a little over a pound a week.  So, I should be in the 26s by then for sure.

Watchme, thanks for the weight ranges.  I think I wanted an idea what to expect.  I know we're built differently (I'm more a pear right now and a few inches taller), but it's nice to know about when you dropped.  I'm hoping to jump over having to buy in the 26's though and skip to the 24s.  But I'll have to take a look and pull out all my clothes that are put up to see what sizes I've saved through the years.  Some are just out of style I'm sure, but I always kept things hoping that I'd fit them again.

Keep up all the hard work girls!  Even with our cheat days, we're doing great!

Ok, I jsut had to post here to all of you lovely girlies!!

I'm 208 today!! thats means I've lost 14 pounds in total (which cus I'm from England is a stone!!) so I'm really happy considering I was up yesterday, cus i know it was only bloatingform the monthlies.
Anyways, I'm happy today

Oh, and I managed to do week 2 of C25K which means I was running for 1 and 1/2 min blocks!!!! with 2 mins walking in between. thats so good cus I can never do that!!! so I'm happy with myself. :D

so cool to hear of all of you throwing clothes away! I dont have any that are too big yet. hopefully by the end of the year I will. I jsut want to wear my diesel jeans!

clothes update:  tried on lots of pants to sort through them and come up with more to donate.  ALL of my size 20 pants now fit AND my size 18s with the semi-elastic bands now fit too.  hurray!  i still don't like the way they grip my stomach though.  they make my legs look good (cuz they actually fit and aren't too baggy on them!) but grip at my stomach.  my size 22 and 24 pants camoflauge my stomach a lot more but make my legs look like they are double the size.

Good Morning girlies!

Ok so first thing's first BLC weigh in @   180 !    ( -2 from last week )  Wohoo , I haven't had a 2 pound loss in a while, feels great.

Ok so I was reading y'alls post and even though I am a little late chiming ( as usual : p )  in I have to comment on the boob thing.  Mine have shrunk since I started loosing weight but for the better. They are firmer and more shapely if that makes any sense. I am pretty flat chested ( b cup ) and before they where bigger but just like fatter on the sides.  I just recently got some new bras because all my old ones where either way too big and mostly sports bras and I went to get measured to make sure I got the right size and it looks like I am a 38 B , before I was like  a 42 b ( or thats the biggest I could find anyway) and it's weird because even though your boobs shrink as you go down in band inches your cup gets smaller but stays the same size, in my case a B.   Speaking of getting measured my waist is now 36" and I am fitting into size 14's a lot better.   I am so an apple shape to quote watchme.  I am the thinnest ever and still my waist is so thick!!! Ughh frustration.

Mladdy - I saw you your new pics you posted , you look so awesome!! I love the one w/ the dress. How tall are you by the way? I am so jealous you are in a size 12 there is no way you're still 186lbs.

Alice- Welcome I don't think I've said Hi before.

Liza- I think that is really helpful to keep smaller clothes a round and to keep trying it on for motivation. I remember having size 18's as my goal pants and now I can hardly believe I am wearing 14's.  trying them on to measure my progress is def. a motivator.

Alli- I am so proud that you are trying so hard to not go back to smoking. You are here to loose weight and get healthy and qutting smoking is the best thing that you can do to improve your health.  Keep it up girl , you know you are my inspiration.

Everyone- have a wonderful Sunday !!
