Girls in their 20's who want to lose about 100 pounds
YAY SWEEPIE!!!!!
i wish i was as on track as you. way to go!
Oh Dalma, I was saying the same thing all last year. But this year is going to be different, I can feel it!!! I'm going to beat this I know that I can. I really need to up my exercise though. I'm slacking really bad...I'll try again for a full week next week. This week is already shot...bad snow storm tonight possibly 6-10 inches by morning and then another 2-4 tomorrow afternoon, it's snowing pretty good right now.
Plus tomorrow (may cancel it for now) I'm supposed to have my Mary Kay bridal make over that I won from the bridal show...most of the girls that are attending it live 25 miles north...I don't want to burden them with driving to my house in a snow storm. I guess we'll see what it's like tonight before bed, and how it is in the morning, if it's too bad, I'll definitely cancel it.
hey ladies!
Happy Friday everyone. I just had a great turkey sandwich. Light bread, extra mustard and turkey. I wanted to splurge a bit today , so I planned to eat a bag of popcorn that had been around my house for a while. But when I came home, I found out that one of my brothers had already eaten it. Talk about coincidence or serendipity! So instead I made myself a nice healthy sandwich and I still have some calories left for the day.
sweepie, sorry about the weather crisis :S Hopefully your plans can go ahead as you want to.
dalma, that pic is w0w!
Boots, wb!
Sweepie, grats on the weight! Very excited for you. And all that fresh fruit sounds delicious!
Ana, that sounds like something I've love! I love turkey. Especially in a sandwich with cheddar cheese. I limit the cheese, but still, so yummy.
Looking forward to my weigh in tomorrow. Although, this is normally my bad week. And my scale has been saying low batteries for a little bit. I really need new ones but just haven't gotten around to it. Gawd, how upset would I be if I found out the scale has been lying and I'm not at my current weight...and saw the 3 in front!! But, I've been doing well, eating healthy. And I'm putting off working out which I need to really go and do. Hmmmm....maybe a protein shake after. Sounds good too! And yay for the weekend!
"As to your question, I agree with you 100%! I am trying to lose weight because I am the heaviest I have been in my life, and it is taking a toll on me."
Ditto!
I JUST joined CC. I'm Asia, 27... Currently at 260 lbs. *YIKES!!* My son will be 2 this July and I am stressed out just constantly, because I simply can't keep up with him at the moment. Not with as out of shape as I am. I've got to get healthier, and I'm not getting any younger, and it's not going to be any easier to lose as I get older if I insist on maintaining the lifestyle that go me here in the first place. I would *love* to be 150-160 lbs, but currently focusing on that first 60.
Wondering how long it's going to take, hoping I can stick with it, knock out some bad habits, etc.
I hope this place is as great as it seems on the surface. I'm excited already! :D
Hi Ladies,
Thanks for the welcome! I am feeling pretty positive and am doing well. Survived the first week and my first dinner out last night so thats good. I spent 3 hours grocery shopping and this stuff is very time consuming but Im glad that it really isn't too bad if you take the time and I've been tagging food ahead of time so I can add it all up before I make decisons about my meals. Also I decided to go up to 1600 calories for now, it seems like a lot of food, so Im glad that Im not having any deprevation issues. Next I have to tackle the execise stuff. So far Ive managed longer walks with the dogs, and thanks to the wonderful weather in upstate lots of snow shoveling, which really is a work out..I have a huge driveway LOL. I also do crunches and a few other things with the stability ball, I love that thing!! I just bought the 30 day shred last night getting ready to try it for the first time, any body used it? I hear its hard...Ill report back on my first experience later
Hi everyone,
just wanted to report in. I've done 10 hoursof my 40 hours of exercise, so thirty more hours to go. I have to say it was very hard to do and I give the people on the Biggest Loser lots of props. I don't think it's something I can keep up for long-term but for January it is my goal, I think 5 hours is more reasonable--lol..But I am challenging myself and pushing myself---goals keep me inspired.....I haven't lost any more weight, but it's my time of the month--so I'm thinking that's the reason--or at least hoping. Not much else going on..Just relaxing today and fixing to take a nap because the cramps are bad...I'll check in later......
To all the new people...welcome! I have to say for those of you wondering how long it will take to lose the weight..try not to rush it...You didn't gain the weight over night.....I have been with CC for over a year and still have a lot to lose and I'm still giving myself 2 years to lose it even thought I would like it all to be gone like Biggest Loser style 6 months ago...lol...but it's not real life. I guess I'll I'm sayin is don't give up, give it time--lot's of time.......
Welcome Asia!
Scarlet, yes, sometimes the super market takes longer than other times. But, you'll get the hang of what you like, what things you buy now, etc. I've heard the shred is really hard, so don't be discouraged if you can only do a few minutes (most people that have mentioned it can only do a little bit). Sounds like you're already on track with everything. Good job!
Boots, grats on your 10 hours. I can't imagine just how much they do on the Biggest Loser.
Hehe, and like boots said, it does take lots of time. I think the problem is that real life gets in the way. All the stressful times do take a toll on us. And we have all the emotional crap to deal with of why we're losing weight and why we got to the weight we did to begin with.
On a good note, I weighed in today at my lowest weight from before Christmas! Very excited about this. Although, humerous that I somehow "lost" 5 lbs since Wednesday.
topez: congrats at being at your lowest weight before Christmas! ![]()
I'm interested to hear how everyone is doing on their excersize hours goal so far. Bootser congrats on doing 10 hours already! Looks like you are on track to hit the biggest goal of 40! I did about 1 hour in the past 2 weeks so all of you on the challenge are an ispiration to me!
Scarlet-I know what you mean about the time consuming part of counting calories. Sometimes I don't even feel like adding everything on the site cause I start to feel like I ate a ton of stuff because I sit there adding, and adding, and adding...! You have a good idea to add the food up before you eat it because I was just adding everything at the end of the day and 'hoping' that I hit my goal which isn't working! My goal is 2050 cals a day and I think I hit it twice in two weeks! your way will probably help me plan lower calorie meals! Where are you upstate? I am from upstate NY! NOT missing shoveling!
miabel-congrats on the 3/4 mile jogging! I think I am going to try to walk/jog with a goal of doing a mile without stopping!
Dalma-I wish I was in your shoes! I can't even imagine what it would be like to have size 10 in sight! Or a bikini!!
Thanks boots! I was very excited about it. There's nowhere but down, right?
One of the things with adding foods, you can tag items that you normally eat together. So, I always have 3/4 cup of fat free milk with my 3/4 cup of Kashi H2H cereal. So, if I tag both of those with a label of "Kashi", I can look at my tagged items by the names I gave them on the right side of the page and find "2 - Kashi +" and click the +. This will take you to the next page to add both items at the same time. It really does cut down on how long it takes, as long as you eat the same amounts every time you eat them. Hope that helps!
I pigged out a bit much yesterday. Part of it was by accident. We were going to the movies, but since it was sold out, we had dinner out to wait for the next showing. Granted, there were other things I ate throughout the day that weren't so good either, but I did it thiking I was having a normal dinner on my cheat day anyways. Oh well. Have to work out today anyway.
hey ladies!
Since it's sunday, I have a loooong time to figure out what to have for lunch and to look for new recipes to try out. By the way, I recently baked the famous Diet Coke cake and it is really awesome. You can't tell the difference between the real stuff and this imitation. It's really easy too, you just need to mix a box of chocolate cake flour and a can of Diet Coke. Bake as directed and you're done! I baked a batch of cupcakes (for better portion control) and they turned out so great family ate all of them in a single day. Depending on the flour you use, each cupcake is between 110-200 cals.
welcome akela!
scarlet, good luck on trying the 30 day shred!
boots, congrats on the 10 hours!
topeze, I didn't know that tagging trick. I have used tags before but not to place items together. By the way, congrats on losing the holiday weight!
iwilldoit, I did 4.5 hours of my 20 hour challenge this week. Since I'm not a "tae-bo/cardiosalsa class person" (or at least not yet) my routine right now involves interval training and weight lifting. Just like Ally said a few posts back, the key is to sneak a bit of exercise in your everyday schedule. I started just walking around the block and then when exercise was a habit I started trying out different kinds of exercise.
I've been curious.... Have any of you ladies had any success with Lean Cuisine? I am currently using to help me get a real grasp on portion control and to curb "fast-food" cravings. People seem conflicted. Some swear by the meals, others say they're too high in salt, etc. to be effective for weight loss. (I drink LOTS and LOTS of water, so I'm hoping the sodium won't set me back, too much.
Any of you ladies able to share LC stories? Am I wasting my time? I sure hope not. The meals seem satisfying (Esp. with a salad or veggies) and I'm *so far* not feeling very deprived with them. There's a huge selection, they're fast and easy, and I can usually have something similar to what my beau is eating... I'll fix him his normal meal, and have a comparable LC meal with him.
topeze, thanks for that tip on using tags. I am going to give it a try! Just trying to add a turkey sandwich with tomatoes, lettuce etc takes forever!
unlimitedana, that diet coke cake sounds awesome! what kind of chocolate cake flour did you use? did you use frosting? nice job on the 4.5 hours! I am going to do what you did and just start walking. I have plantar fasciitis (if that is how you spell it!) in my foot so it gives me a problem sometimes but I love to be outside so I think it will be a motivator to walk outside. Then I want to move up to jogging like miabel....if this foot holds out!
akela, in my case frozen meals (LC + Others -No Hungry Man though!)helped me to give up my fast food addiction last summer. They were portion controlled, and were quick to prepare (something important for a busy college student like me). The disadvantages? Sodium and price , but they were healthier than my regular meals back then and I made sure to eat a plate of veggies along with the food to satisfy my hunger. Gradually I decreased the number of frozen meals from five a week to zero in a matter of two months as I increased the number of healthy home cooked meals. I must say I haven't bought a single frozen meal since early August. Advice on frozen meals: Read the labels because some contain more cals than others, log them always and learn how to make swaps. I learned how to cook low-cal pizza, muffins and even tofu burguers. Check out the Hungry Girl site, they have some good recipes there :)
iwilldoit, I used a Betty Crocker Devil's Food Box, no frosting though but I heard about some people frosting this cake with Cool Whip. Good luck with the exercise!
akela:I don't think I have any advice on exercise. I just really like to challenge myself and prove my husband that I can do it, lol(He said he didn't think I could, and I like a good challenge)... I have my own elliptical at home--so I really feel like I have no excuse not to exercise..Also when it's warm outside I like to go for long walks....My challenge is only for January but after that I'll probably aim for more like 5 hours a week. The 10 hours that I did this past week----I never let myself make an excuse--no matter how tired I was or how much I wanted to cry---I made myself do it.....I also set it up like it's an appointment--so I don't let myself back out of it or cancel. Let me know if you have any other questions!
As far as the LC--I think they are fine when you first start eating healthy because they do really help but if your feeling like your hungry or depriving yourself by all means eat more! Eat lots of veggies and have a big salad with your LC and yes make sure you drink lots of water...I used to do them but got sick of them....Right now I rarely eat anything out of a box or a can, but I did this weekend...
Alright girls, so I ate like crap this weekend. But I'm fixing to cook up a pot of veggies soup and bake some sweet potatoes (yummy).... Hope you girls had a better time then I did--I had awful cramps and let my cravings get to me.
Thanks to everyone for their stories so far. I've been pretty miserable with the whole dieting thing, so far, to be honest. It isn't as bad as it could be, granted, but I really guess I need some support at the moment. I love my beau, but he doesn't *always* give me a the right kinds of encouragement.
The Hungry Girl site IS awesome. I can't wait to try out a few recipes. ![]()
Sweepie, seems like you're doing great. Congrats on the low!
Dalma, I like the chocolate and ice cream, but I think mine is in pasta...but I have to say that I haven't had pasta or pizza and yellow cheese in a year and a half since I started all this...it was just my thing that I really love that I decided to not go near it all. And that picture....drool!! :) I liked the now picture you had up too, I kinda like the older guy look in general but then and now...he's is smoking and sounds supportive and great! So Enjoy!!
Ana, I know what you mean about the respecting food and all, I'm not quite there I don't think, I eat really fast, one of my issues that I have to constantly remind myself not to do.
Ash and Topeze, she totally gets the whole diet, eating healthy thing so she's never do anything to get in the way, we totally motivate each other all the time, but she looks amazing, she thinks she still has lots to lose but she doesn't, she's a big girl so she carries it all amazingly, I'm short next to her but we're kind of the same size now, which is nice since I was always much bigger than her, and she is leaving with half my wardrobe...but somethings I bought and haven't warn so if she is going to wear them then I'm happy, since I wanted to get 1 or 2 new things I'm bored of my winter clothes, but always feel guilty since I have things just not in the mood of wearing them.
Welcome Asia.
Boots, all that exercise, you're total inspiration!
I got a couple of sessions with a new trainer as part of an upgrade package that I had to do anyway, so had him for the first time on Thursday...OMG I could not move on Friday night and Saturday...but I did ask for the pain, I'm strange that way :) I told him I can sit at home and watch tv and have no pain I don't need him for that...boy did he deliver, he also told me I have to try for 4 hours of cardio by the time I see him next which is wednesday, not sure if I am gonna get there since I've only done 1 so far but hopefully will manage, and this totally has gotten me all into the groove again, so hope to really take advantage of this opertunity while it lasts (not for very long) the trainer that is, and put a serious dent in me!!
Have a great day everyone.
ally - your exercise routine sounds very similar to what my hubby has had me doing. i get bored too... that's my biggest problem! and now we're talking about buying a house b/c the market is so low right now in vegas! it's the perfect time to buy if you can afford it! so if we do, i will lose my free gym. but my hubby says we will get gym memberships somewhere, so that's good. i just don't know how to keep in interesting. i get bored and don't want to do it! the plus to a gym membership will be the aerobics classes and stuff, i think i would enjoy it more than just doing the weights and treadmill/elliptical! and i am very lucky to have such a supportive hubby... when we stopped the detox... he wanted french fries from mcd's... so we went and got some and sugar free iced coffee. the next day i told him we couldn't do that anymore and i know it's not fair for me to ask him not to eat that stuff and he said it WAS fair b/c he doesn't need it either... so that made me feel much better about it! and for your calorie deficit, are you encluding the calories you're burning? i had that problem a few months ago... i was actually starving my body and didn't realize it b/c i wasn't including my exercise. i was hungry and dizzy all the time because i wasn't giving my body enough fuel!
hi watchme!!!!
topeze - i can promise you i do NOT buy the real thing! LOL! I get the malt-o-meal kind... it's not exactly the same, but much more affordable!!! and congrats on being at your lowest weight!!!!!!!
boots - welcome back! good job on your 10 hours!!!! and i know what you mean about not rushing the weight loss... i want it to be biggest loser style as well, but i know as long as i stick with it, it will happen. i just get impatient sometimes!
dalma - i love that picture of jay! he is very hot!
sweepie - CONGRATS on the weight! you're doing such a good job! you totally inspire me to work harder!
dana - i will have to try the diet coke cake!! yum!
welcome asia and akela and iwilldoit!
scrlet - the grocery store trips should get shorter... once you get into a routine it will be easy. my hubby and i are on a budget, so i plan out my meals and snacks for calories but also so i don't spend too much at the store. i do tend to spend more time shopping if i'm at walmart... but it's not all for groceries! :)
akela - i have been getting hungry girl newsletters for a while now and have checked out the cookbook! good stuff!!!!!
fay - i'm glad you have had a good time with your sister! new clothes are always nice :) and you can totally get that cardio in!!!
i did eat my captain crunch and it was SSOOOO good! :) i did pretty good on my exercise last week... we were going about 2 hours a day. but i only made it 4 days a week instead of 5. but it was hard doing all that exercise and not getting able to eat much b/c of the detox! but today is a new week! i'm going to get my 5 days this week!
things have been busy in here and i feel like i can't keep up!!! :) hope everyone has a great monday!!!!
