Girls in their 20's who want to lose about 100 pounds
Welcome Queen Bee! You have found a great forum. I am on a diet where I eat every 2-3 hors also and I can have 1250 to 1500 calories a day. By making myself figure out my meals for the day can be while fitting them into my calorie budget has helped. I don't make things foridden(like chocolate). I just have an amount that fits into my caloric intake for the day. And I don't beat myself up if I go over by 100 calories or so. I couldn't follow those 6 week plans or things like nutrisystem because I had to eat off of their menu. I decided to just build my own everyday and use calorie count as my guide. I also was a vegetarian for a year and a half(up until last week), so I understand the extra constraints you have. I won't get into why I stopped, but if you need any advice, we are all here! Good luck!
You live in SB? I am in Los Angeles and mladdy is in camarillo! WESTSIDE!
welcome queen bee! You can do this!
double post
HAVING A MINI MELTDOWN! HELP!
Can anyone check how many calories are in a McDonald's Med. Iced Coffee. Blocker at work won't let me look it up and it is agrivating me! Plus CC doesn't have it listed. Thanks a bunch! ![]()
I looked it up and it appears to be 200 calories bzb.
Hey queenbee! You're at pretty much exactly the same weight I started at, and I am a vegetarian too! So welcome! Glad to see you on here!
My Spring Break is getting closer to it's end ladies.....I'm not happy about that.....Off to the gym again tomorrow morning. Keep kicking butt! :)
dani-Thanks soooo much! That is what I thought. ![]()
haha. told you i was horrible at math. so a 650 is good? why do you guys talk about a 1000 than?
fallon - I think that a 1000 calorie deficit is the highest this site (and many of the people on it) recommends. If you have a bigger deficit than that, your body may think it needs to hold onto nutrients....although the argument of truly being in "starvation mode" is waged pretty hotly all around the site. A 650 deficit is pretty good. So don't be mad at yourself!
Recently my grandmother, mother, and self got 3 generation pictures done (at the ages of 66, 44, and 22, respectively) and we just got them back. I can tell that I've lost weight. And for those of you who remember me talking about wanting to be smaller than my mom....well I most definitely look it in the pictures! :) ::Evil, but happy about it::
Had a rather good day - went out job hunting for a summer waitressing job near Lake Michigan (very touristy and only about 40 minutes away - and I know someone who lives there whose house I could sleep at if necessary). I have 2 interviews next Friday and one of them is with a guy that owns two different places! One is a more upscale Italian bistro - they serve lots of wine. The other is more of a restaurant bar - they serve more beer and mixed drinks. I can't decide which I would prefer to work at.....any suggestions? Please feel free to weigh in on the situation! Have a great night ladies!
Bistro! Wine gets people buzzed faster and they spend more $$$. Looks better on a resume also.
I can't wait until I can look at a picture and tell I am smaller. I am goung to TN at the end of the month and I know I will be taking lots of pictures. By then I hope to have lost 18 lbs or more so I should notice a bit of a difference. Seems far away, but I I am half weigh there. I know I can do it.
I am going to the gym tonight. Last night I did 30 minutes of interval training on the elip at moderate effort and 25 minutes on the second day of couch to 5k. I felt a little sore this morning, but I stretched it out. I am going to do 60 minutes of the elip tonight or 45 and the 3rd day of couch to 5k. Luckily I have updated my iPod touch with all the latest motivating music.
Speaking of motivating, WHAT MUSIC GETS YOU PUMPED FOR A WORKOUT? OR HELPS YOU BREAK THROUGH A WALL DURING YOUR WORKOUT? I capped everything so you guys would read it. My current list includes Rihanna(Please don't stop the music), Pink(Who knew), What you got?, and Webbie(Independent) mixed with a bunch of other current stuff. Oh! Can't forget Flo Rida(Low). And to break througha a wall its Journey(Don't stop believing).
When I'm running I like stuff like The Blood Brothers, The Chinese Stars, CSS (cansei de ser sexy), Tegan and Sara, Big Bang (a Korean pop group), Gogol Bordello, etc...
Ugh, Blech, Rubbage! I would NEVER get weightloss surgery! If I got into the mess, then it's by my own strength to get myself out of it! For the morbidly obese who have maybe fewer than 5 years to live, then by all means have a gastric bypass, but otherwise, it shouldn't even be legal or an elective proceedure!
bzb- I don't own a bike, but I'm sure I would be able to rent one for a ride along the coast! That sounds fabulous! The only catch will be working around my new, unpredictable schedule. Let me know how much planning you would need, because I typically don't get a weekly schedule until the Wednesday prior.
To All- Plan your next trip to So Cal, and we can meet up! That would be such a hoot!!! I think of you all as kindred spirits and weight loss sisters, so I'd be delighted to meet up with any and all of you!
danibelle- That's so cool to have noticed changes in yourself! I'm proud of you! I'm pulling for the bistro job for you, but even the alternative one wouldn't be bad in such a touristy place. I'm sending good vibes your way!
fallon- I like to strive for 1000 deficient just so I can lose the 2 lbs. a week. It's ambitious, but it's not out of the question either. You should be seeing at least a pound a week drop with your current intake of 1650.
queenbee805- My apartment complex in Camarillo accepts dogs and cats! Maybe you should look into a move! I was vegetarian for 12 years. Being younger though, I did not see the importance of eating balanced, so I'm pretty sure I was protein deficient.
Boots- I hope that you work your way out of that funk soon! Plan something that gets you out and about and energizes you and is also out of the norm. I'm sorry to hear about your grandmother. I sure will send thoughts and prayers up for her.
sweepie- You'll get back to the point of smaller sizes sooner than you think! With resolve and determination, you're going to amaze yourself!
sarabear2008- No worries for asking the general newbie questions. We've all been right where you are with this calorie counting business. Feel free to ask away. Just as a word of caution, I would be very leery about any fasting. Your body consistently needs nutrients from a wide range of sources. Cutting several of those out over the length of 3-4 days doesn't sound wise.
allydan- Are we still weight loss twins??? Sounds like you're on quite a roll! I'm down to 194.8 as of this morning, where are you at? I'm happy that "The Guy" is back in your good graces. It's fun to be caught up in someone and vice versa! I don't think that your success is any sort of accident. You're definitely getting the hang of this and it is part of your lifestyle! Keep up the awesome work!!! Oh yes, and come to visit me! I don't have a spare room, but I do have a comfy couch!
girls with the back pain- I really need to quit complaining! I can't imagine going through what you do! I will pray for healing and an end to your pains.
Suzanne- Your husband sounds like such a jem! Believe every word he says about your fitter body! Your pictures look soooo good! I can see a difference even from your wedding pictures. Keep it up! If and when you do come to So Cal, you MUST look me up and connect!
alibuch- I love your comments about everyone else's posts, but what's happening in Ali's life lately? How have you been and what's new?
fallon- Isn't reading 10 pages on here so time consuming!?! I did that one day and was like, "You have GOT to get in here at least every other day to avoid ever having to do THAT again!" Don't get me wrong, I loved reading all of the posts, but I felt so unproductive that day. I must have read the equivalent of a short novel that afternoon! Maybe you can set yourself a mini goal of eating all of your calories in the form of food (not liquid) for the next 2 days and see how your body thanks you!

I, personally, hate American pop music so I tend to listen to more indie rock stuff.
When I'm running I like stuff like The Blood Brothers, The Chinese Stars, CSS (cansei de ser sexy), Tegan and Sara, Big Bang (a Korean pop group), Gogol Bordello, etc...
Thanks for the music suggestions. I absolutely love to branch out and listen to new things. I'm totally going to check those out!
alibuch-mladdy took the words right out of my mouth! I was going to see what everyone answered and try to listen to some new stuff. Nice to hear your opinion though. One of my good friends at work is Korean so she would probably know Big Bang.I listened to some Korean music while I was in her car and I liked it. I just wish I could understand the words. Too bad I took Japanese in college for two years.
mladdy-I have 2 bikes, so all you need is time! My schedule is pretty flexible. I am one of two finance managers in my dept. so we are really good at switching and covering for eachother. During the week is easiest. Weekends at dealerships are bananas and they count on the both of us to be there. I am off every other Sunday, though.
I ended up doing 50 min. on the ellip and 15 min jogging. Woohoo! Time to walk Chopper Bean! GN
Hi everyone, I am 28 and from the UK I recently went on a weekend away with my boyf and for once allowed myself to be photographed for some holiday snaps (I usually insist on being the photographer!) when I saw the photos I was shocked by how big I had gotten and deleted them from the camera straight away. When I got home I weighed myself and am 294lbs (!) the heaviest I have ever been and I can't believe how it crept up (I guess I had convinced myself the sizing on the clothes was wrong!).
Anyway wake up call well and truly received so here I am ready to get healthier, happier and slimmer I want to reach an overall target of 140 but seems soooo skinny to me so I will just see what weight suits me as I don't want to lose my curves!
Love this forum! :0)
hahaha Nothing really new is happening in my life. I've been dealing with a lot of b.s. with my employer (my school was sold to a new guy) regarding immigration and the US Embassy. It's been quite the hassle and to put it blutly, pain in my ass.

If anyone wants any Korean music, just send me a PM. I can send it to you via AIM/MSN or something. I don't have a lot of variety (Big Bang, Wondergirls, etc) but I like the little bit I have. I'm pretty picky since I don't like pop music and that is what most Korean music is (K-Pop).
I haven't been exercising besides my normal walking and I've been eating pretty well. I'm still working on getting that recipe for the spicy tofu soup since so many people were interested in it. I know the ingredients but don't know how much to use (it's not important for the veggies but for the pastes you have to use, it is). I need to pester my co-worker a bit more... she just keeps forgetting to get the recipe from her roommate.
But yeah... just really tired. I'm supposed to get a couple beers tonight with my co-workers at this bar we frequent. Apparently last Friday when I was wasted (which is putting it nicely) I hit on our waiter. I scored a number and he's been texting me constantly since. He asked me to come up this weekend while he's working but I have a friend's birthday tomorrow so I have to go tonight... but he's 19 so I don't think I'm really interested in anything with him (I'm 23). But yeah. A long weekend of drinking I'm sure but I've worked it into my calories.
People people, I read and read and OMG then there's more!! Any who , stop talking about beer, so many calories but so much yumminess!! sad to say but I have sometimes not eaten since joining CC because I knew I was going to want a few micheladas and didn't want to go over my calorie allowance for the day. ![]()
Before you ask a chelada is a texan beer drink (totally delic!!!) made w/ any Mexican beer corona ,tecate, dos x , clamato , some lime juice and hot sauce you mix it all together serve really cold and it is surprisingly good!! plus I heard somewhere that eating spicy foods ups your metabolism and like I always say I need all the help I can get and maybe all these little tricks will add up to something! Oh plus now corona tecate and even modelo come in light!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (yay I can die happy) <---- Okno , not really but sorry all this beer talk has me salivating after weeks of being dryer than...........(cant think of a good analogy sorry
)
ANYWAY... I see that almost all of you are either in or from the US. Anyone chillin' in Canada? I rock the T.O every night.
Alibuch, O I hear you on the Korean Pop music ;) My boss is Korean and he plays the pop music like everyday could be his last. It kills me. I'm more of an old rock fan than anything else, but I enjoy punk rock.
yessica, that...drink...sounds...amazing! I am going out tonight, and I will pay top dollar to have the bartender make me that drink.
Is jump roping as good an exercise as running?
In terms of calorie burning, moderate jumping is about equal to running a 10-minute mile, although calorie burning is always a function of time... Read more
