Girls in their 20's who want to lose about 100 pounds
hi jpetty!
we have just about the same stats. i'm 28, i'll be 29 in april. i'd like to see 240 in the near future, too, though i gotta get from 270-something down to there, first. welcome!
Hello all,
So, i am really struggling. I gained back the five pounds that I lost and probably more (I have to buy a new scale today). I think I'd be doingmuch better if I had the time to figure out the claorie count for everything I like to eat. I also struggle because my husband likes to eat out A LOT and of course the kids make choosing meals difficult.
Does anyone have meal plans already written out with calorie counts and all that I could sample for my family?
Also, how do you lose the water weight? I know I'm supposed to drink lots of water (but how much) and avoid salt (but what's an acceptable limit) and I'm sure there are other things that I'm not doing that I should.
I could really use some help, guidance, advice...
Congrats to all of you that have lost weight...your stories are inspiring
Here's wishing us all the best in our healthy goals
Hi all!
I got some motivating news today! This is the 5th week of the challenge that my fitness club is having and the biggest loser of this week will win a 2 night 3 day trip to a destination of your choice!!!! I NEEEEED A VACATION SOOOO BAD! My husband and I have been taking care of my grandmother for the past 5 years and have not so much as spent the night anywhere but home and she is now in a nursing home temporarily for therapy so I could possibly take off for a few days of much needed R&R before she returns home!
I am soooo overly motivated to win this thing!
To emmakea: Don't stress! The week before last I lost no weight and this past week I had lost 6lbs so it can be un-done!.....I do not have meal plans, but what I do if we are going out for dinner is, I look up the restaurant before we go and usually SOMEWHERE hidden in the website is the nutritional information (Trust me you really have to dig for it sometimes!).....If all else fails order a grilled chicken breast! A lot of times we will be out and decide to go out to eat so I cannot be overly prepared but I have looked up all of our favorite restaurants and know what I can and cannot have.....Also as far as the water consumption it goes by your weight, here is a link to the one I used. http://nutrition.about.com/library/blwatercal culator.htm
Best of luck to you!, Jessica
that said, I hope everyone is well! and not eating fries! *cries a little*
Hey all-
I'm so glad I have this forum to come to. Sometimes I have really bad days, don't feel like writing and just read, but it helps. So here's to it being Wednesday. We're almost half-way done with the work week right? That's something to celebrate...
Hi there, I'm new to CC, but so far I'm enjoying. Really enjoying the forums and everyones great advise and support.
Me in a nut shell....I'm 27 (28 in May), 5'2 and 246lbs. I want to get down to 130. When I started my pursuit to be a healthier me I was at 254.4 and in 3 weeks I have worked down to being 246. Go me! Exercising is my enemy. I hate it. It's easier when I have a buddy, but since I don't always have someone to work out with I found Tai Chi and Zumba which I don't mind going to do alone since I am with a group of people.
I have a lot of incentive to be healthy...through work we are doing a weight loss challenge so whoever looses the most at the end of 22 weeks wins some money. And I have a friend who has said that when I get down to my goal weight of 130 will pay for a trip to Orlando for two friends and me!
I am very excited and very determined to be healthy!
I wanted to congratulate everyone on such great weight loss success! Keep it up! You now have one more cheeleader in your corner.
Emmakea - with the water, I was taught that you take your weight and divide it in half, and that's how many ounces you drink each day. But it doesn't have to be water. Every drink has water in it, so you can have juice or something else with no caffine so you don't get tired of too much water.
I would also like some recipes or meal ideas, so if you get any forward them my way!
Hey everyone. Okay, I am cutting it close at the age of 29, but I definitely need to lose around 100 pounds. EDIT:my first goal is to get to 200 and see how I like the look. I do not have aspirations to be skinny, just healthy. I dream of the day when I can walk into the misses department.
I am currently 259 and I am 5'8.5. I started this journey on this website in July of 07 starting at 279 pounds. I got all the way down to 254 and then birthdays and holidays came, I started craving junk food and fast food again etc. Anyway, the situation was getting out of control and I realized the other day that the only person making excuses is me so I am back on track of journaling every day and also logging my foods every day. I have realized that there will be days that are bad but that does not mean that we have to throw in the towel so....
Back on track I am...now if I could just get my butt back to the gym (I go early in the morning so I don't have to take the kids and it is freezing here!)
Original Post by kelly27:Hi mladdy. We seem to have a lot in common. I am 27 and married with a 1 1/2 year old. I am 5' 5" and 194. I really want to get to around 135, but I'd settle for 150. I would love to talk some more, maybe help each other out. Where do you live? What have you done so far to lose weight?
Hey, kelly27. That's cool that our stats are similar! I'm living in Southern California now, but my heart is back in the midwest. I am NOT a Cali girl.
So far I've been logging absolutely everything that touches my lips. When I cook, I put it all in separate container so that I don't get tempted to over eat. I've also cut out all soda (diet too), sweets and baking.
My daily analysis goals are under 20% fat, 25-30% protein and 50-60% carbohydrates. My fiber goal is at least 30. I'm also a little obsessed about making sure my Vitamins A&C are at least 100% along with my calcium. I probably eat 2 cups of veggies and 2 cups of fruit a day and have switched to only whole grains (bread and pastas-still like my white rice though). I've been exercising quite a bit (walking on an incline on the treadmill and walking outdoors-very brisk pace up and down hills). On a normal day I eat around 1700 cals and burn a total of 2700 (7xx from exercise). I've also been avoiding sodium rich foods and drinking lots of water (avg. 4L a day). My husband thought I was insane went off the deep end when I made all of these changes all at once, but he's really started to appreciate my determination to become healthy. This new lifestyle has also been very good for my son. He is going to learn good eating habits from me! Tell me all about your journey thus far!
Here's a recipe for you all! Look up Turkey Vegetable Chili on this site. I just threw a bunch of things together one afternoon. It ended up being 9 different types of veggies in there, and it tastes really good! I added extra kick to mine with black pepper, chili powder and cayenne powder. The servings are very generous and it lasts a long time in the fridge; freezes beautifully. *It is high in sodium, so you may want to adjust your eating for the remainder of the day or try to by the canned tomatoes, etc. in a low sodium form.*
Welcome missfaybel, sonini, jpetty5, ingy12, and ericka1031! So now we have the UK, Canada, Australia and the US represented, right? I can't remember if it was on this forum or another that I read that there's someone from Austrailia.
Anyway, we're all on the same mission! Way to go for making the decision to live healtier!
allydan- I wouldn't stress about eating some fried calamari. What I'd probably do is just be sure my fat intake and overall calories are lower than the day before. Exercise is good, but don't use it as punishment for slipping up on your eating. ![]()
emmakea- I'm sorry you're having a rough time. I don't really do meal plans, but I also limit the things I bring into the house now. Could you quickly replace all of the "junk" food with a healthier alternative, even your kids' stuff? I made it clear that there won't be any more convenience foods laying around. If my husband wants to snack on something crunchy and get a salt fix, he's gonna have to settle for peanuts. Also for the going out issue, could you make a little booklet of the restaurants you like to go to and choose 1 or 2 of the more healthy options to write down? If you know what you are up against off the bat, then you can adjust you calories earlier in the day. Try drinking 2 large cups of water before you go out to eat. Maybe that will allow your body to become full before all the food on your plate is gone? Check out my Turkey Vegetable Chili for a quick meal (You can puree some of the veggies so the kids won't know what they're eating.). Try to eat only whole grains (pasta, breads, etc.). I'll try to keep better track of what I fix for dinners and post it for you if you'd like to sample what I do. Hope this helps, but really, don't let the 5 pound regain get you down; you can do this!
kimnkick- That would be so awesome if you won that vacation! I'm rooting for you! Thanks also for the water consumption link. Pretty interesting.
freddiechick-
R.I.P. Here lies french fries. The vehicle to clogged arteries and bloating. Your impact on my hips will always be remembered. LOL
They're not worth it!
danibelle414- Here's to less "bad days" for us all!
ingy12- What's Zumba? Is it some form of dance? Tell me more! Good luck with your work challenge!
ericka1031- Congrats for getting out of bed so early to exercise! I am such a slug in the morning. I don't think I would get out of bed some mornings if I didn't have to go tend to my son. ![]()
To everyone: Sorry I'm always taking up so much space on my posts! I'll try to be more to the point. ![]()

Hi everyone. I am Blanca. I am 232lbs and I use to be 270lbs. I would like to lose 100 pounds too. I am 5'4. Asian and middle built.
I would love to work with Suzanne. I really need motivation. There are times I want to give up. Like it will never happen - me being healthy -sexy. Sometimes I block out everything and also, what I eat so I end up eating more and more.
I try to go to the gym 3 times a week. I want and should go 5 to 6 times a week. But I get lazy. I rather sleep.
But this week been to th gym twice. I notice I have mor energy despite my muscles are aching.
I am glad I join CC today.
Hello, I am 27 and 213.8 lbs. I started at 220 and am trying to get down to 130 = 90lbs. How tall are you?
I have some support at home, but I really think I need some additional. I'd love to keep in touch with people in my same situation. Anyone on here, please feel free to add me as your friend.
