Glaceau Vitamin Water--opinions?
Does anyone have an opinion on this stuff? Is it even that good for me to drink?
*Stands up* I'm le_tigre, and I am a reformed Vitaminwater addict. Everyone in my classes knew me to have one everyday, and ask which flavour I had today :P
But now I drink waterwater. Vitaminwater is so high-cal for a beverage-- but then I'm the person who drinks only water and black coffee, as I hate wasting my precious cals on drinks LOL-- and really high in sugar. 125 calories per bottle, and 32.5g of sugar! And the vitamins? My mom (RN) and a lot of articles and such that I've read say that it pretty much gets peed out. Not to mention the fact that it's pretty expensive-- good ole water is generally free. For vitamins, take a daily supplement. Much better for your body and your wallet.
EDIT: I'd generally label it as okay for when you're sick or something though. Most of them have Vitamin C and that'll help boost that immune system. I just wouldn't make it a daily thing (like I did :P)
I have tried the Walgreens version (0 cal)....it is okay tasting...not as good as the normal vitamin water that has 50 cals per serving tho....
Maybe you cannot taste the difference I suppose - but i for sure can. I can also tell the difference btween "light" or "low fat" cheese and full fat versions. I would rather fit in the full calorie versions of cheese thant he nasty light kinds *although laughing cow cheese wedges, they are wonderful...so that is the exception there!*. Also - naturally lower fat cheeses (i.e. goats milks, mozerella, etc) are also an exception, they are NATURALLY lower in fat....rather than tweaking the original to lower fat (i.e. light cheddars, etc).
Basically, my comparison between vitawater and cheese is trying to show that I would rather have the original versions (and fit them into my eating plan) than the lighter versions, in some cases....and Vitawater is one of them. I can def. tell the difference between vitawater and the walgreens 0 cal version.
I haven't tried that walgreens water because I rarely go there. I might try it for comparison. I agree with the chicagogal, though---I'd much rather have a little of the real thing and enjoy it that a bigger amount of the leaner thing and gag the whole time while having it!

Vitamin C is actually Ascorbic acid, not citric. Just to let you know. (Sorry, my years of biology and chemistry class have made me quite the nerd)
It is a bad idea to drink vitamin water instead of taking your miltivitamins...
First, vitamin water does not provide all vitamins and minerals you need.
Second, as it was mentioned already - it has 125 calories per bottle: just too much for a "water"...

They ought to start calling Coke "Coke Water" and watch people lap it up and think it's healthy. Seriously, though it has some vitamins added, once you add flavorings to water, you've got yourself a soft drink.
It's not water, any more than other soft drinks are still water. I have to hand it to their marketing people for getting people to associate it with drinking water, though.
