What is exactly the benifits of doing this? How hard is it? What is gluten? Sorry so many questions
some people have celiac disease and they have to avoid gluten. others have allergies and they can't tolerate it.
If you don't have any health problems, don't bother.
Gluten is the protein in wheat, rye and barley. If you ever make bread you need to seek out flour with a high gluten content so that the dough is nicely elastic and rises well. There are no benefits to a gluten-free diet unless you happen to be someone that has an allergy to it, as explained very well above. Wheat allergies are thankfully much rarer than some would have you believe.
they mentioned in the new 90210 about how they can't get gluten free in kansas but now can in bev hills? is this true do some areas not sell gluten free? i thought all wegmans sold gluten free products (or other supermarkets) no?
and i only know that its for celiac/ wheat allergies. i don't know if it is any less caloric. my sister in law says the pasta doesn't taste as good.
I know for sure that you can order gluten free products online. even if some people don't have access to gluten free products, they can always get it online.
I'm not gluten-free but I have tried the gluten-free breads and pastas of a gluten free friend, and the texture and flavour was not so hot. Think cardboard. There could be better options out there, but I haven't found anyone yet who's found a gluten-free product that tastes as good as the original. If I had a wheat allergy, I think I'd avoid bread, pasta and other gluten products instead of eating tasteless substitutes.
Bear in mind that gluten is found in all kinds of random products, such as soy sauce. I imagine it's pretty hard to eliminate from your diet altogether.
Maintaining a gluten free diet can be pretty hard. My mom has celiac and so many little items that you would never think have wheat in it actually do. For instance soy sauce. Ingridients such as modified food statch is in a ton of food items and it contains gluten which limits your diet even more. I know my mom has an extremely hard time when we go out to eat. Even though more places supply a gluten free menu the place can still cross contaminate her food and still make her not feel well the next day.
