GLUTES! Did I create this problem??? Help!
Unaware of too much cardio when I started my weight loss journey, I walked and walked, and walked. Whether it be at home on the treadmill or during my lunch hours when working. I went from 235 and am now down to 153. About 3 months ago, I added light weight lifting, resistance training, exersize bike, elliptical and the ball. When all of a sudden the weight dropped alot all at once and being a busy single mom, my butt now looks so awful!! I can feel my tailbone between my cheeks as though my butt needs lifted (no I am not going for a body lift, could'nt afford it anyway, plus I still have at least 30 more pounds to loose, and the worst problem is the glutes. the fat between the butt and the back of the upper thighs meet. Has anyone else had this problem? I know they say that your body will loose the weight where it wants to and in reverse order in which you gained, but who can remember? I bought the elliptical and run it backwards and when on the treadmill, I set the incline to high, and have been doing my squats, butt........ help please...

Unfortunately, you can't spot-reduce particular areas of the body either with exercise or diet. You haven't done anything bad to yourself by doing a lot of walking... after all, that's how we're designed to get around. If you keep losing weight chances are that everything will even up eventually. And if it doesn't, well at least you're a whole lot healthier than you were 80lbs ago. Just make sure that you're getting a balanced diet and sufficient calories... undereating tends to compromise muscle tone.
Well done so far and don't let this set you back at all.
Maybe I didn't understand the same thing as gi-jane. But I think you are worried about some loose skin on your behind, or maybe I'm just obsessed with sag at the moment.
I have been using a firming cream on my chest, as going from a 40DD to a 32C has been quite a change. I don't think the firming cream it self works, but the moisturization (I don't know if that's a real word in English lol) definitely helps the elasticity of the skin. I think a good cream can help skin in need of a little TLC, worst case scenario you smell great and feel an extra bit more sexy ![]()
P.S. I have been using the bust firming cream by Clarins
Deadlifts can help firm up your glutes (although if the issue is fat, jane is right about spot burning, and if it's loose skin, time will probably be the best thing).
But do add deadlifts to your routine.
Deadlifts are GREAT. Like I say, now I know why they call them deadlifts: they kill the legs and lift the tush! They might not be able to fix all of what nature has done, but they do help. Go to YouTube for videos of how to do them, and make sure to choose a weight that is challenging! Your muscles need to be challenged.
Good luck!!
Why can athletes eat so much?
Athletes need adequate calories to offset those they burn in training and competition. They eat to either maintain their body mass or gain muscle... Read more
