My Glutes are Sore!!!
I have been running 6 days a week seriously for about two months now. I do some light weight two days a week also. All of a sudden after my four mile run yesterday, my glutes started to hurt. I stretched before and after. Would it be safe to run today or should I give it a break. Why is this happening now?? Oh and one more question....is it true that running gives you a bigger butt!! It seems like my butt has gotten some what bigger since the running. Any thoughts would be helpful. Thanks.
I don't think running will give you a bigger butt. Typically, running (steady-state) will not increase muscles much.
Now, if you *want* a rounder, firmer, shaplier, tush, I've heard that sprinting can give you one.
I have also noticed from my recent weight lifting that my bum is much more shapely that it used to be. Smaller, since I've lost weight and 2 pants sizes, but definitely perkier and firmer.
For me, deadlifts = perkier rear.
Hm, I'm not sure why your glutes would start hurting now, but I can say that in my experience running makes your butt, thighs and legs firmer overall and as for myself, smaller. The only thing that running makes bigger are my calves, but that is ok with me.
I added you as a buddy if that's ok because I'm looking for friends on CC who are into running.
