What is it?

Its a vegetarian diet which sounds scary but the results seem to be good. This is what i found when i googled it.

I was wondering if anyone tried it..Laughing

Nope, I've never done it, but it smacks of "fad"!  These short term diets only lead to short term weight loss.  It's much better to go on a "diet" you can sustain for life.

Are you sure that you're eating enough?  Not eating enough can cause just as many problems with weight loss as eating too much.

What are your stats?  height, weight, goal weight, exercise level?

Ht - 5 ft 6 in

CW 179

GW 139

Age 26

I have been tryin to reduce for four months now. i exercise for 50 mins a day (steps or weight training) and eat around 1200 calories. But i am just not losing any weight Cry

Your stats are close enough to mine that we could be twins.

If your body is anything like mine, you're not eating enough.  1200 is the minimum if you're sedentary and it's still a bit on the low side.  I'd recommend 1500 per day to start, give it a week or two and see how your energy levels are and if you start losing weight.  Your burn rate is estimated at 2100 per day with your exercise.

Do you belong to a gym? Changing up your workout routine might help.

Try taking classes if they offer them for free to members. Get on the elliptical machine (or treadmill if you can handle high-impact) and try out the different programs to see which one gives you a challenge and makes you work the most. Try adding high-intensity intervals to your workouts as well -- this will help your body burn more calories for hours after you've worked out. What I do is run for about 5 minutes at 6-6.5mph and then kick it up to 9mph for 1 minute, then bring it back down to around 6mph for another 5 minutes, and then sprint for another minute, and then bring it back down to 6.5 and then cool-down. I've been reading a lot about this and it seems like the way to go for losing fat, but it's not easy so ease into it! Check out my journal for helpful links on HIIT.

Also, maybe don't do just the stair climber or weights...do both. And from what I hear, although I haven't read anything on this so I'm not 100% certain, it's better to do weights and then cardio.

I attend step classes for 3 days a week (50 mins each) and 2 toning classes(50 mins). I try to get 15 or 20 mins in the cross trainer before these classes. I dont work out over the weekend, i am worried that that is the reason i dont lose any weight..i dont binge but sometimes i just cant stay away from french fries.

I guess eating better and cranking up my work out routine seems to be the way out....thanks a lot for ur help :)

That diet seems wrong.  I'm a big critic of any diet that has you eating things like all protein or all bananas and milk.  If you can't just eat well with some education - like tracking your diet through this site, boy is that a wake up call - a super restrictive diet is not the answer.  As much strength as we put behind recommendations, it's not the same as proof of effectiveness.  Don't stress that the diet your friend uses doesn't work for you.

I think you are eating too few calories for your exercise load.  How are your clothes fitting?  You can stay pretty static on your weight, but still be slimming down.

start lifting weights!  the more muscle you have the higher your metabolism will be.  at rest, you will need more calories to maintain.  plus, this helps prevent osteoporosis.

my pants are lossening up and the skirt i bought last week is loose on my hips. I guess it is working after all. Yeah i changed my mind about GM diet...everyone says you would gain all the weight lost and some more. I dont want that happening. CC is the best thing that happened to me. Noting down everything i eat keeps me from stealing the midday snack.

That is the cabbage soup diet only without the soup and the meat/protein day.  I have done this sort of "diet" before.  I think I went about 10 days just eating rice, corn on the cob and fruit.  I think of it more of a cleansing than a permanant life change.  I lost about 8 pounds in a week.  I put it back on when I returned to normal eating.  I felt pretty good.   That's all these diets really are though.  They aren't permanant solutions to a weight problem.  They might help you lose some weight fast - for example if you had an event that you wanted to drop some pounds for real fast.   You could not eat this way for the rest of your life.
