GNC - Women's Ultra Mega Vitapak
I recently started taking the Women's Ultra Mega Vitapak as a healthy, active female who is just trying to maintain a healthy lifestyle and weight. You take one pack a day, with a meal, of:
Calcium 600mg, CLA 1000mg, L-Carnintine 500mg, 2 Multi-Vitamins without Iron and 2 Energy Enhancers.
My problem is, every day since I started taking these vitamins, I've been nautious for most of the remainder of the day! Has anyone else experienced this and was there one particular pill that caused it more than the others? I've tried to take 3 pills at 1 meal and the other 4 during a different meal, but that didn't seem to help at all.
what is in the energy enhancers?
Acetyl-L-Carnitine beats L-Carnitine cause it also boosts your memory. (L can't cross blood/brain barrier but A-L can)
At 500mg, the carnitine might be causing the nausea. Its best in 250mg increments for most people, twice a day. (what I am currently taking)
But my spidey sense says it is the energy enhancers. :)
With the energy enhancer, I get 2 pills in one shot of:
guarana seed extract 495mg, black tea leaves extract 272mg, meganatural grape skin and seed extract 210mg, ginger root extract 200mg, meganatural gold grape seed extract 125mg and dill weed extract 5mg
I should mention that I drink 12-15 oz of Dr. Pepper a day also. Do you recommend cutting out the energy enhancer, L-Carnitine or both to see if that is causing my nausea?

Why do you need to take all these? I'm not saying you don't need them, but it's a good idea to know the reason your taking something other than 'the people who sell this stuff for a living told me to'.
How much cheaper would it be to buy all these pill on their own instead of in a 'vita-pak'? How much less trash would you be producing if you weren't throwing away the 'pak' everyday?

I'd take both of them out, wait a day (or until nausea is gone) and try just one and see how you feel. Try the other one on a different day and see how you feel. I am betting it is the guarana seed. The ginger helps with nausea, I bet they put that in to counter the guarana.
I looked up guarana and it can cause upset stomach but didn't say nausea specifically (pacifically muahahahahaha)
anyway, if you want more info: http://www.drugs.com/mtm/guarana.html
Its a sister to caffiene, and maybe there is just too much of it in that pill.
I bought that pack and had to stop taking the pills after 3 days because I was nauseous and I felt weak. It's just too much and I don't think the body needs it anyways.
hey...im certainly not a "health buff", but i recently began taking one-a-day energy vitamins. they offer you a boost, your necessary daily vitamins, and most importantly it's conveniently offered in 1 pill. they also offer one-a-day women's which might be beneficial.....just a suggestion:)
Well, this is my take.....
I am a big fan of taking a multi-vitamin everyday! When I first started taking the Ulta-Mega from GNC I was very sick to my stomach!! I would go to work and end up lossing my cookies in the bathroom! I think my co-workers thought I had an eating disorder!! I thought, OMG, I'm pregnant!! Come to find out it was the vitamin itself!!
My suggestion is to eat a good breakfast! That is the only thing that has helped me in the morning to keep my vitamins down!! Another suggestion, take your vitamins at lunch!!
I do not have any experience with the engery enhancers.....sorry!!
Thanks for all the input! I appreciate it!!
For anyone following the chain of messages here, I took some advice and tried taking a variation of the vitamins to see what was causing my nausea. Once I stopped taking the energy enhancers, I felt better immediately! Thanks for the input!

Are you suggesting that I'm nautious after ingesting my pills because of the money I spent or because I'm swallowing the packaging? Otherwise, I don't see how either would be relevant to the question.
