Anyone have a pair of goal jeans? or a goal dress? How many sizes down do you buy goal clothing? How often do you try to squeeze your butt into it? I am 5'2" and at 144.4 (today! down from ~150).
Right now i'm wearing a size 8A(nkle..shorty) Gap jeans, but still can fit into my old pair of size 6A non-stretch jeans....but when I try to buy a new pair of size 6 jeans from there, they are just way too tight. So when I bought this pair of size 8--I bought the exact same jeans in size 6 (they were on sale for $15!!)
I keep wanting to try them on....but I don't want to be discouraged, so I'm trying to wait as long as possible.
Reason: Moved from Weight Loss to Motivation forum
I've got "goal clothes". They're in Australian sizes though so i'm not sure you'll totally relate. The sizes are 14, 12 and 10. What I did was measure their waists ... therefore I kinda know when there's a remote chance that they might fit me .... which is no time soon that's for sure.
congrats on your progress!
I'm also 5'2 and started out three years ago in high school at 145 and wore a size 11, sometimes 13. two days ago when I last weighed myself i was 114. I started using calorie count after I'd already lost ten pounds just through walking, spring 2007, (i was a size 7-9 in some pants) when living in a dorm room and eating the caf food was getting me back to an unhealthy weight and state of mind. I lost another ten pounds by last fall, I was 124 and wore a size five. then I gained ten pounds back and my regular jeans were getting tight, let alone my skinny ones, they were out of the question. I started this past april first and now I weigh the least I ever have not only in my adult life but since my early teens.
I had a pair of 124 dollar guess jeans a friend had bought me, they were a size 28 or something. Who could waste a present like that?! I had a lot of motivation from those pants, haha. Now I have to go shopping for another pair of skinny jeans. I'm looking to fit into a size three! from 11 -3 in about three years. Jeans are a great motivator.
Try them on. Yeah, if they don't fit there wil be that moment of frustration and little sadness, but it quickly turns into fuel for motivation so if you ever find yourself drifting from your diet and your goals try them on to give yourself a little kick in the pants (my puns are awful, I know).
I don't buy jeans with the intentions of fitting into them someday, but i do reward myself with them if I drop a size.
Unfortunately I have about 8 pairs of goal jeans and about 20 goal shirts, hahaha. They used to fit but I could never bring myself to throw any out. I love them and can't wait to wear them again!
that's usually my method--my soph yr of college i went from 156 to 140something and bought myself a LOT of new clothes (went from a size 12-8). I stayed between 135-140 for like a year....I went to Australia (Freo, WA)for a semester last year (Fall 07) and apparently gained a lot of weight this past semester when I got back (Australia-South Bend, Indiana is kind of a depressing move).
However, Last time I was near 150 I was a size 10-12, and now I'm closer to 8-6. I think it's because even though I've gained weight, through out I've been exercising a lot more, so I have some dense muscle under the new fat. So I don't feel so bad about myself at 144 as I did last time around because I think I look better.
Right now I'm training for a Sprint Triathlon (500m swim, 10mi. bike, 3 mi run) in 6 weeks...and when I have to go on my long runs, my mantra is "Size 6 jeans...bikini...Size 6 jeans" although towards the 45min mark it turns into "Screw size 6!! size 4 jeans!!!!" hahaha
It was also nice because I had things I could keep trying on as I lost and my closet became a range of clothes. Over time, my wearable range moved from one side of the closet to the other with new pieces coming in and old pieces going out because they got to be just too big!
I never thought I'd wear anything under an XL shirt, but I've had to start buying Larges, and now that I'm wearing all my size 40 pants, I've got my eyes on the pairs of 36s on the far right side of the closet =)
So yes, I've bought a lot of goal jeans, and I still get the same feeling of WOOHOOOOO every time a new pair fits!
that's absolutely amazing! congrats!! :) keep going! that wooohooo feeling is the best, isn't it?!
My goal jeans are size 9, I bought them at Christimas time and I can get them on but have a serious muffin top and don't like that but I am down from a size 16 so I am still pretty happy!!!!
I have a pair of silver jeans that i bought last summer that no longer fit me property. They are a size 27 and i can kind of squeeze them on but they are not buttoning lol. I hang them on the back of my door.
yeah, mine are on the towel rack in the bathroom
I just did the same thing at the Gap over the weekend - they are having a great sale! I replaced a pair of loose 14s with a snug pair of 12s and picked up the 10s on sale for a goal pair. I can get them on but they are skin tight. I'm planning to try them on once a week until they fit for motivation. I don't want to try them more often because I'm afraid of stretching them and want to keep it honest. Good luck!!!
(I'm 5'3" and 177, down from 235 originally - the 14s that are loose were purchased in April and were my 1st pair of non-plus size pants in years.)
good for you!--i remember it was a real mental hurdle for me when i went from a 10 to a 12 (when i was at my heaviest)...so i bet it'll feel great for you going in the reverse! :) keep going!
another aspect of my goal jeans is that they're low-rise...even tho i'm only 20 i usually feel much more comfortable (probably bc of the belly fat) in a mid-rise jean. so it's not just the fitting in a size 6--it's a looking good in a size 6 low-rise!
I have a size 4 pair and another pair that i can't remember the size because it was measurements at the time...a 27 or something? Well they were a little snug on me at 130 but i liked them anyways, and now they are pretty wrong on me at 135, and i can barely button them up, lol. im just trying to fit into them and eventually hopefully i can be down to a size 2!
I have a great pair of size 30 Diesel jeans that I try on every Friday after my weigh in. The last time I wore them was probably in 2004 and even then I wasn't totally comfortable in them. They are actually ugly jeans and I can't believe I spent the amount of money on them that I did, but it's the size I am going for!
After I am done with those I am going to start on the size 27 Citizens of Humanity that my boyfriend used to wear...yes, boyfriend...
I want to fit into a size 7-8 jeans without stretch and a size 6 with stretch. I don't know if it's physically possible but I will try really hard to do it. I have a large body frame but my boobs are big, medium waist and giant lower body. I naturally have large hips, muscular legs (not small ones either
) and a big butt so fitting into those jeans will be great if I can get down that far. Right now I'm in a 8-9 with stretch and a 10 without stretch so maybe I can do this!
I'm 5'6" and 151lbs and I want to be 140-145 if I can. When I'm at Walmart (or places like that) I try on 2 different sizes to see how well they fit me. A FULL year ago, I couldn't even come within inches of buttoning the pants that I can wear now. I guess that's because i'm in a 10-ish and I was in a 16. My grandmother, who lives in Ohio where I used to live (I'm in the Carolinas right now), bought me size 6's from a GAP outlet store because she didn't know what size I wore so I hope I can eventually get into those sizes! ^_^ Good luck everyone!
I'm 5'2.5 and my jean size is 7-9 depending on the store i get them from.
I don't so much have a jean goal. I'm trying to lose 20 lbs. though. so 20 lbs off of a size 9 would put me in what pants?
i have a pair of goal jeans that are 1-2 sizes too small right now. i know that i could just firm up a lot i could fit in them really comfortably.
I saw a dress at JCrew that was $143 off the original price, and so I had to buy it. It's a size 8, and I used to be a 12 (now am more of a 10 yay!), but I'm really excited to be able to wear it soon. Classic Audrey Hepburn (Breakfast at Tiffany's) dress--I'm anticipating the day!

I'm 5'1, and my jean size seems to follow a 5 pound rule. At 140 I wore 12, 135 I wore 10, 130 I wore 8, at 125 I wore 4-6, at 120 I wore 2-4, and right now at 117 I have a pair of size 1 that I wear, but most of my jeans are size 2. My goal is a 0. I'm short, so I the right to want to fit in size 0!
So my guess is you would wear a 1 or 2. Good luck!
when i was 156 i was a 12; when i got down to 136-140 i was in a size 8...so for 20lbs i dropped 3 sizes. Now I'm much more fit even though i'm back up to 144...so I'm still a size 8.
hope that helps?
